  1. Then, using the sewing machine on a straight stitch, at the longest stitch setting I sewed along the top (straight edge) without reverse stitching on either side. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/content/type/61/id/165595/width/200/height/400[/img] http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/content/type/61/id/165596/width/200/height/400[/img] http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/content/type/61/id/165597/width/200/height/400[/img] http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/content/type/61/id/165598/width/200/height/400[/img] Then, by pulling only one of the threads I was able to gather the tulle so that it was the length of my comb, then tied the long threads. I then sewed over the gathered stitches, this time reversing on both ends to make sure it doesn't come undone. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/content/type/61/id/165600/width/200/height/400[/img] http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/content/type/61/id/165601/width/200/height/400[/img]
  2. The supplies: Tulle - I bought 2 yards of the double wide stuff for $5 at FabricLand White thread Needle Sewing maching Scissors Comb - most people recommend the wire combs, but I prefer plastic because my hair is very fine and slippery. I bought this one at Ardene for less than $2 http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/content/type/61/id/165591/width/350/height/700[/img] I'll wanted a fingertip length 1 tiered veil. So I started by cutting a square of tulle, I folded this in half and then folded the bottom up to make a triangle. I tried to take lots of pictures because I knew it would be hard to explain. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/content/type/61/id/165592/width/200/height/400[/img] I'll had my fiancé hold a piece of string and the corner of the triangle while I used the other end to help me draw a curved line that would be half a circle when the tulle is opened up. I then cut along the traced line with the tulle still folded. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/content/type/61/id/165593/width/200/height/400[/img] http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/content/type/61/id/165594/width/200/height/400[/img] This is when I held the tulle up to my head to figure out how long I wanted the veil, in my case, I wanted to fall at just about the too of my bum, so I ended up cutting quite a bit off the top.
  3. So, I've finally done it! I got out my sewing machine and made my veil. Here is the finished product, minus the beaded edging, which I plan on doing another time. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/content/type/61/id/165589/width/350/height/700[/img] I'll post the steps I took below.
  4. Tulumbride2013, we are dress twins!!! Mine should be in for the end of November and I will be able to try it on again. Great choice, if I do say so myself!
  5. I agree, don't limit yourself to a designer. I had no idea what was going to look good on me, I'm petite as well so didn't even think I'd be able to pull of a full length gown. I would suggest going in with an open mind, and try on a dress in each silhouette, you'll know immediately what you feel best in. Having a few things you want (mine were white, no satin, sweetheart neckline, and a little bling) will help the ladies at the store pull dresses with features you want. Taking a few pictures of dresses you are drawn to will also help. Good luck, and enjoy the experience!
  6. Anyone looking for personalized stuff like travel mugs, tote bags, pens etc. I found a catalog for 4imprint at work. I've checked out the website and you can choose exactly how many items you want to buy, even if it's an odd number. For us Canadians they have 4imprint.ca as well!
  7. This may sound a little weird....but was anyone else nervous about their FIs having a negative response to the photos? Don't get me wrong...I'm sure he would love the pictures but I don't know if in the back of his head he'd be constantly thinking about who's seen me posing in lingerie (photographer, person developing the photos etc.) Am I just overthinking this?
  8. I 'd love to do a boudoir session, when do you think you'll give your pictures to your FI??
  9. Wow! This is beautiful. If you attach it to your hanger I think it will be sturdy enough right? Your dress only hangs on the wooden part of the hanger. Yes, you'll have to be gentle with it but it should be okay.
  10. I saw glasses like these at Ardene, obviously you can't get them personalized but they were pretty cheap. Maybe you can just write on them with a Sharpie or use stickers to personalize them.
  11. I like the pearls...I think it would be pretty to have a little cluster of pearls on either side of your word.
