  1. Hi Ladies, If you are a year to 8 months out from your wedding day, I highly recommend a site visit. There is nothing like it. Plus, wouldn't you like to visit the Riviera Maya now? Best of luck with your planning, Jennifer
  2. Hi Brides to be, We just shot a wedding at Dreams Puerto Aventuras as outside vendors. I would imagine the policy is the same at all of their resorts. We do have a blog post about the charges at different Riviera Maya resorts. Read it here. Best of luck, Jennifer
  3. Hello Future Mrs Warner, We have worked with several Asian brides. This bride used Anne Marie Coté from www.makemebeautifulbride.com She looked fabulous. This bride used Melissa from MVP. Both artists were great. Good luck, Jennifer
  4. Hello Brides, Here a couple of photos from different artists. The first bride used Anne Marie Coté at www.makemebeautifulbride. com This bride used Melissa at MVP. We enjoyed working with both artists. Good luck, Jennifer
  5. Hello Riu Palace brides, We just shot a wedding there last month. We think it is one of the nicest resorts on the Riviera Maya. I did notice a couple of comments that should be addressed. The sunset time for April 2 is 6:03, not 5:00. Daylight savings time begins on April 7, so the sunset times for the rest of the month are a little after 7:00pm. We always suggest that you plan for the ceremony to end about 30 minutes before sunset to leave time for the creative photos. While I can't vouch for the quality or the expertise of the specific resort photographer, if you choose him you will be missing a good opportunity to work with one of the many exceptionally talented wedding photographers who call this area home. We think the photography is the most important part of your wedding day. Make sure you like your photographer's style and that you have at least one Skype conversation to determine if they "get" you. Good luck, M&J
  6. Hi Kristine, Congratulations on your engagement. Sounds like you are planning on a fabulous day. St. Lucia is beautiful. With the prices you are going to see on St. Lucia, you might consider some of the boutique properties near Playa del Carmen, Mexico such as: Le Reve, Esencia, and The Viceroy. Check out Ana y Jose and Be Tulum in Tulum. You might find that the top resorts on the Riviera Maya are the same price or even a bit less than the top Caribbean resorts. Plus, the Riviera Maya is cheaper and easier to get to from North America. Good luck with your planning, M&J
  7. Congrats to the Christmas brides of 2012! While the beaches of Cancun are nice, don't skip seeing Tulum, or some of the spots near Playa del Carmen. Getting a travel agent who is experienced with destination weddings AND doing a site visit are very smart moves. We have more tips listed here: http://www.mandjphoto.com/2012/03/tips-for-getting-married-in-the-riviera-maya/ Good luck with your planning. M&J
  8. Hello Naida, Sorry to hear that the North American media has made your family think that Mexico is not safe. Did you know that the Riviera Maya, which is in the state of Quintana Roo, had a lower crime rate than Wichita, Kansas in 2011? The problems in Mexico, while real, are concentrated around the borders and a few West Coast states, more than a 1,000 miles from here. We have lived and worked here for more than two years without incident. Take a look at this post, it might help you decide which resort to choose in the Riviera Maya. http://www.mandjphoto.com/2012/03/tips-for-getting-married-in-the-riviera-maya/ Good luck, M&J
  9. Congrats on your engagement. Since you are non-conventional or traditional, maybe a boutique hotel is best for you. There are alternatives to large, all-inclusive resorts. There are some pretty special boutique hotels (non-AI) on the Riviera Maya that are worth checking out. I would look at Le Reve near Playa del Carmen, Ana y Jose in Tulum and Al Cielo, south of Playa del Carmen. The Viceroy is cool, hip and elegant, but the rooms are around $600 a night! We think the friendliness of the locals, the incredible diversity of things to do and the beautiful Caribbean are big reasons to get married on the Riviera Maya. But, we are biased, since we got married here and we live here. Good luck with your planning, Jennifer
