  1. Looking through all the requirements it does seem pretty expensive. My fiancee and I are getting married the morning we fly out. We sign the papers and then hop on the plane! Yipee!!!
  2. There's a whole thread on photographers in the DR. To have outside photographers come to DPB you have to pay a day use fee but that's about it. I'm looking at HDC and Photosouvenior right now. Both do really good work! Although one thing I like about the DPB resort photographer is that they don't limit the time they'll do your pictures. I've noticed many require you to buy packages for set amount of hours but I really want pictures of us getting dressed, the ceremony, bridal party pics after, happy hour and maybe a few of the reception.
  3. Just received the ceremony selections from Pastor York and I love them! I think we are going to tweek them a little bit but overall they rock!!!
  4. The couples I've spoken with who have done this met with the judge earlier in the day to do the legal portion then had Pastor York officiate the actual ceremony. So technically they were married after the judge had them sign but theny they were married symbollically in front of their family and friends that same day.
  5. Welljen - Thank you! Your pictures are amazing!!! Amazing!!!
  6. How fun! Where did you ladies go and what did you do while all dolled up?
  7. Waiting to hear back from Tropical Storm and Barcaza right now. I found another one Catamaran Bebe that does charters for not too much but they max out at 20 people. The group excursions average $90 a person!!! Luckily the charters are looking to be much cheaper! Thank you everyone for oyur help!
  8. Oooh only other thought is if you have sections of the table in lieu of individual tables. Then people can look at their table card and know what section they're in. This would allow you to still do fun table numbers.
  9. I think sitting in the middle is best because then it brings your guests into you versus you guys at the end. I think you can get away with just place cards. If you're only having 30 it won't be hard for people to find their seat.
  10. Thank you so much for posting this! I've been trying to find a floralist outside of the hotel but haven't had any luck!
  11. Does anyone have pictures of the linens, flowers and cakes offered? If you've used an outside florist or rental store for linens do you mind providing me that info? Thanks!
  12. Just a thought but do you need a dance floor if you're having the reception by the pool? The ground is already hardened cement which is great for dancing unless of course you plan on doing the moon walk and need a wooden dance floor for that.
  13. We were getting married at the Excellence and ran into the same thing. I was told don't stress! Since Photosouvenior is the resort photography commpany the resort has them already for your event. They are a group of 3 photographers so one is always covering the weddings (as there's only one a day there) and the other two can work weddings off site if they're not needed at the resort.
  14. Hi! I'm using Wright Travel Agency and have been super impressed so far. My TA Patty has been super responsive and got us some amazing rates. She even went above and beyond when we had to switch resorts from an adults only to the Dreams Palm Beach as we were surprised with a little blessing She's been great! 15. Debating on who to use! I love Photosouvenior and HDC! Although we get a much better rate if we use the in house photographer at the Dream Palm Beach. Has anyone use the in house photographer?
  16. Yes the only one I could find was Baracaza (sp?). They seem like a great coppmany but more geared towards dinner and dancing. I want something where we can jump on in, swim around, motor about for a little bit. It doesn't have to be anything fancy but something to bring the fmailies and friends together. We're staying at the Dreams Palm Beach. Thank you so much for your help!!!
  17. Just contacted Pastor York to do our wedding in May. Fingers crossed he's not already booked! He sounds great!
  18. Hi Ladies! I'm trying to find a boat that we can charter for around 3 hours the week of our wedding to take our group on a little cruise/snorkeling tour. I've found one boat company but they mainly just do reception dinners. Does anyone know of a vendor I can contact? I think this would be a really fun way to bring everyone together!
  19. I had to email them twice. They're hard to track down especially now that it's wedding season for them. Stick with it!
  20. ahaeley - Yes I've been dealing with mercy! How about you? Have you made any decisions?
  21. I feel like I've been away from this forum forever!!! I just got back from my bff's wedding in Mexico and it was amazing! Can't wait until it's my turn! So our date is set and we got the confirmation back: May 18, 2012. I'm still trying to work with the timing of the event. Not sure if we want to get married at 5pm, cocktails 6-7 then reception 7-10 or what... I plan on taking most of the pictures that don't include my fiancee and I together before the ceremony to save time. So excited! Has anyone seen examples of the flowers they do or the pricing? Also I heard they're putting in a new wedding gazebo. Can anyone confirm?
  22. Mandys- Thanks for the pictures! Love them! Does anyone have the pricing info for the bonfire? I'm not seeing that in my package. They charged my card for the deposit last week but still haven't gotten the date confirmed... I need to get my save the dates ordered.
  23. I've gotten emails back from Awilda but I'm not counting on her being the only WC I enteract with. So what your wedding plans? What are you envisioning? I think we'll end up having around 30 people... although at times I'm wondering if I'm being hopelessly optomistic and in reality will only have 6. However it works out I want to get married on the beach. I want flowy fabrics, slightly relaxed atmosphere but not bathing suit attire relaxed. I'm thinking of keeping the white chair covers but then changing the ribbons to shades of blue/green. I want to have the reception on that little island thing in the pool. I've heard amazing things about receptions there. I'd like to go with a peacock theme of sorts and really bring in the bright blues, teal, hints of purple,etc... I have the ideal place setting in mind but no clue how much it would cost me to replicate with the chargers, napkins, etc... So I'm trying to think of cost effective ways to bring the theme to life. I'm thinking white flowers with some peacock feathers sticking out, perhaps teal table runners... Still thinking and dreaming....
  24. jillbu11 - You'll be getting married one day after I do! Congrats!!! The one thing that I still haven't gotten a good answer for is the beach set up. The packages say that the beach area is included however the extras menu say there's a price for setup. When I've asked they've said that the chairs are included. So what all is included in the packages for the beach?
