  5. Hi Lea We are getting married in Dominican Republic, but decided to do symbolic ceremony there ...well long story short, we have been very against such a things with my H2B at first...but when we looked at reality of things (£ lol) it seemed like we could use this extra over £1000 for our second honey moon later on in a year!!! )) We are going to get legally married in UK about two weeks before we go - everything very secret secret!!! ) with our two friends being witnesses cos they cant make it to DR and then still count our REAL wedding day the one we will have 6th of March in DR!!! ) and after we will be back about May-June we are thinking to have church blessing, cos our families are quite religious and thought it will be nice for everyone to attend who couldn't make it to DR ) ...so hopefully it will all work out just well Michelle, GOD you are one creative lady!!!! I tell you, as i am least creative person ever, I look at things you do and just hope that maybe somewhere along this journey of wedding planning I will get some of what you have too LOL Btw your pink shoes look beautiful, I have quite few Ted Baker shoes actually and they are all crazy comfy, so you should go with them at least you will be able to relax and enjoy yourself on your big day,...not to have worry about soar feet ((.. xoxo
  6. I will have to put hair appointment on my list now too, didn't even think of it... Thanks Dana for reminding me ) I have been talking to HDC too this past week, we are trying to put together a photography and videography package Anyway keep us posted and don't forget you will be MRS very soon yay ) xoxo
  7. Michelle YAY you got your shoes and they are PINK )))....hmmm now the decision time lol If you have the ivory ones already I would maybe wear those for ceremony and then put pink ones for pictures after or if you are changing your dress later on in the evening maybe you can put pink ones then with your evening dress???!!!) ...but again see how you feel or just an idea, maybe when you go for your last dress fitting take both pares and see what looks better with your dress??!!! hope it helped x do you have picture of ivory shoes by any chance so we all can see how they look like? Let us know what you have decided!!! xoxo
  8. Oh I can only imagine how excited you must be being so close to your big day!!!! And even thought you will have to deal with all last minute things, as soon as you get on that plane 6th of April, you will leave it all behind and you will be able to fully enjoy every moment of you wedding )) that's the whole point of destination weddings isn't it Our big day is not for a while lol... we are booked for March 6th 2012 lol!!! but i am one of those people that want to do as much as possible straight away so then closer to the date I will only have few more last minute things to sort out )) Talking about dresses, I have found "the dress" last month ) will be ordering it any time now - went with Pronovias and it takes them around 9months to do the dress...so just happy that found it so early ) Enjoy your last weeks of planning and keep us posted how are you doing )x xoxo
  9. Dana, thank you so much for your advise, i will check it out tonight and hopefully I will find something lol how is your planing coming along anyway? how long do you have left till your big day now?! ) xoxo
  10. Hi everyone! Just a quick questions for the brides who are having welcome bags for their guests. I have looked through quite few planning threads in here and noticed that a lot of ppl are including key card/ tip holders...i am from UK and I looked online and we don't seem to have them here..( Could you please share a link from where you got yours if you are doing them?! ) Thank you so much in advance ladies...is just those key card holders look very cute especially when personalized and I would love to get them for our guests too xoxo
  11. Michelle your songs are brilliant I love everyone of them ...unfortunately at our cocktail hour we wont have access to any music...so started to think maybe hiring one of the trio bands they offering for an hour ish to keep everyone in a festive mood )) ..but need to look into my budget.. You are also right I will ask one of the brides where she had her key holder done...i was hoping to find them in the UK though, found a couple online this afternoon but they are not the same and they charge about £7 for them!!! it definitely not worth 7£...so will see maybe it will be possible to get them from US ) Oh and let us know when your awesome shoes you ordered coming, really hope that they are just what you were hoping for...thinking PINK for you Btw talking about shoes, just saw online that kurt geiger is having 75% off there are some very nice ones,- thought will let you know gals if you are still in search of those perfect shoes ))
  12. Lea, I know how you feel about the music,...i am trying not to think about it at all lol and leave it all in hands of my wonderful H2B lol I am sure it will work our at the end just well ) The key card holders are little waterproof sleeves with bracelet attached to them so ppl can carry their room keys, credit cards and tip money. Loads of US brides are using them in their welcome bags for their guests...but i cant seem to find any at all online..( (here is a picture to give you an idea, there are many items there but key card holders are on the bottom right ) (this picture is from one of the BDW brides planing thread! )
  13. Thank you so much Lea )x I am keeping my invites quite simple, just putting date and time of our wedding and destination and resort name and saying that: we cant wait to see everyone there! I didn't want to over crowd invite with loads of info, so decided to do welcome bags for all of our guests and include all info about resort and area, things to do while they there(trips etc.) and also the "plan of the big day" lol , so everyone will know what is happening where ) together with little bis and peaces like little medical kit and deck of cards etc. (still in process of putting it all together ) Our big day is long way away still lol, but we were always thinking that we will have one of the Keith Urban songs for our first dance...not sure about the rest, this is the only thing that my fiance is in charge of lol :D ...and i have a feeling that it will be done sometime a week before we leave to Dominican Republic LOL :D xoxo
  14. Hi Lea The same thing happened to me with the dress!!! I went to see whats out there on the wedding dress market with my mum and friend after new years. I didn't think even for a second that I will find "the one" the very same day!!! Here is a picture of it (not sure how big is going to be on here, hope you can see it ) It is by Pronvias style called Alcanar About the invites...i am the least creative person ever LOL ...was trying to DIY my destination wedding invites and just gave up, so will be ordering some from Etsy, we decided on boarding pass style - very simple but very cute Michelle you are awesome!!! Creating all of these AHR invites all by yourself!!!! ) I just wish i could borrow some of your creativity while i am planing my big day lol And I completely agree that men are useless when it comes to the wedding planning lol )...but at the same time it is very sweet that they understand how important it is for us women to make it just the way we want it and they stay out of our way lol that's love for you ladies! )) Btw girls, does anyone of you making a Key Card/Tip holders for your guests??! I have seen that US brides do them alot, ..but not sure where to get those plastic sleeves from :/...any ideas ladies??!! xoxo
  15. Hello Lea Welcome to the forum!!!! )) You are only 8 months away from your big day!!! ...we are 13 months exactly today yay )) Your dress looks lovely btw very elegant!!! Michelle, your invites are fantastic...have you done them yourself???!!! If yes then tell us how lol and if no where did you order such a beauty??!! ) We haven't even thought of AHR just yet, but i guess we should start doing it sooner then later, because there might be quite a few ppl there Also we would like to have a church blessing at the same day before the actual reception - does anyone else doing church blessing in the UK when they are back from DW?! As i mentioned before, we decided to order DW invites and AHR invites do ourselves - so i see trip to Hobby Crafts in the very near future Btw ladies, can you advise any other good DIY shop or online, or HobbyCrafts is the best?!!! (not very crafty person so I am a bit lost at this..:/) Lea , have you decided already what are you doing with your invites maybe?! Nicy, your nails look stunning!!! wau!!! i am not quite sure what to do with mine...I was thinking to do acrylic nails day before we leave, but not sure how they withstand salty water (cos we have about 5-6 days at the resort before our big day )? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! ) Oh and Nicy good look with your diet, really hope that it will work out for you!!! :)x I get same thing sometimes, when I am exercising every other day for a month or so and see no result at all...( But for me it works quite well when I combine my usual exercises routine with some intensive yoga (i find a lot of the on you tube!), cos it tones your muscles very well you see visual results much quicker...maybe it will work for some of you girls too ) xoxo
  16. Hello ladies, hope that you all having a wonderful weekend Just have a question for all of the brides - me and my fiance decided to go with free package for our weeding and add all the extras we need to it (as we only going to have about 14 guests). How did you gals go about booking the extras for your wedding? did you ask for a quote from WC? I have inquired about prices of all the things we need from Yanna, she came back to me with everything, but she added next to some things "due the time in advance when you request this information, the prices might change"! We are happy with the price and wouldn't want to be stroked with increase of the price cos our wedding is in a year..! If you have in advise or you had some experience with it, I would highly appreciate it )) xoxo
  17. As I mentioned earlier, we were very strict about us getting married only ONCE and it would be in DR lol ...however after finding this thread I realized that loads of US and Canadian brides were doing "secret" legal ceremony at home and then symbolic one in DR, - this got me thinking that maybe we could use money we would spend on all documents for our honeymoon!!! I think Lisa mentioned above that they have done exactly that and if you mention to your wedding coordinator that no one knows that you are already married from ppl attending ceremony in DR - they do their best to go along and pretend that it is all real which i personally think is a very nice and sweet touch xoxo
  18. MrsEtienne2b, I am from Chatham in Kent (originaly from North London ) moved here to be with my fiance, cos it was way to far to travel lol The HDC is outside company and they charge about $650 for their standard photo package, but they definitely worth it!!! If you will email them, Arnaud comes back to you almost always the same day with answer, and he will send you all their current package deals. The only downside is, like Dana mentioned, you will have to arrange a day pass for them with the hotel that cost $65, but again I think with standard of work it is completely worth it xoxo
  19. Lisa thank you ever so much for posting your review and the pictures too! )) Very happy that you had such an amazing time while in DR and that your big day went so smoothly as well!!! )) I guess it gives all of us future brides a little peace of mind to be honest, cos we all worry at least a little bit about things going the way we planned oh and cheers for warning us about photographer at dreams, its a shame that sometimes things are so unorganized and you had to have such an unpleasant experience... We are more than certain that we will go with HDC, I already contacted them and their packages seem very reasonably priced and very flexible too! MissTaken,- wau i didn't have a clue that we will have to pay separate bar service for reception and bonfire!!!! ...I will have to double check with Yanna will it be the same for us, when we are having our reception on the beach (probably right next to bonfire), - cos that wouldn't make any sense at all!!!... MissTaken, maybe it is worth asking Tiara about location of bonfire and if it is possible to have it any where on the beach then maybe she could arrange it to be closest to one of the bars so you and all your guests will be able to grab some drinks themselves? xoxo
  20. Kerry completely agree with you girl! As long as me and my fiance are there together it don't matter, both of us will have the most amazing time for sure! )) Also, I don't mean to sound bad...but it kid of helps to know that we are not the only ones having trouble with our families! Hope that very soon they all will calm down Kerry and you will be able to enjoy all the planing of Your Big Day properly! ) xoxo
  21. MissTaken i am sure you will have loads of fun on your very special day!!! very excited for you and it is sooo close!!! Btw, did you decide to tell anyone from your family that you are doing legal ceremony before you are leaving for DR?!!!... we are not really sure about it to be honest.. maybe it will be our little secret lol
  22. Hi Kerry Wau three weeks away sounds brilliant!!! We are thinking to go away for two weeks and then have second honeymoon in few months just the two of us...soooo cant wait ) We have also booked way in advance because of the families (even had to move our original wedding date October 2011 to March 2012!)....but they are still moaning LOL To be true sometimes i get quite upset because of it, cos it suppose to be our day and somehow most of the time it is all about the rest of them.. But hey, they are family, we love them and just need to get through it, get them all booked and then we'll be able to relax a bit more I am sure ) (sorry for the rant sometimes these things just get to me..) Kerry if you read this thread ladies here have loads of great ideas for everything so if you need any help or advice, someone here should be able to help xoxo
  23. MissTaken - you are getting married on 14th of February yay, its sooo romantic ) and it is only 2 weeks away from now!!! You must be so excited congratulations to you and your husband to be in advance!!! Btw if you don't mind me asking, did you plan anything special for that day after legal ceremony?! ...we are kind of at lost at what could we do special lol we will have our two friends as witnesses, cos they cant make it to DR for our "real wedding", they just had a baby The reason I am asking is because we are not sure should we play it low when we have our legal ceremony and don't do anything special after (cos the real wedding will be in DR) or should we still do something? Would appreciate anyone's advise on that ) xoxo
  24. Welcome Kerry and congratulations on getting married )) yay How is your planning going so far??? we would like to hear it all! We are getting married in 2012 as well, March 06 in Dominican Republic - it does seem very far away, but I believe brides in here when they say it will fly by very quickly!!! ...it has been 4 months already since we got engaged and it still seem like it was yesterday ) xoxo
