  1. Hello ladies, Haven't been here for few days and hope your planning is going just great! LisaRob - OMG you look soooo beautiful and pictures are amazing, looks like you all had loads of fun!!! Can't wait to read your full review ...and I feel for you that after such an amazing week you have to go back to work so soon MrsEtienne2b - -- After looking at how much we will be able to save if we were to get married in UK prior departure to DR, it was no brainner really lol we better put this extra almost £1000 towards our second honeymoon or some awesome trips in DR!!! Also we might get all cheesy and as we are leaving for DR 29th February, get married in register office in UK on 14th of February lol... Also, we are planning to have our reception on the beach and have that awesome bonfire too and Yanna told me that there will be waiters there for us and also they will set up a little bar as well for drinks (like the one you have when you do cocktail hour before reception Hope it helps...oh and fire is maintained by staff, - they don't allow it to be for more than an hour as I understand About photographer I remember someone mentioned the name of the one that is included in the package...but unfortunately it was some time ago and I can't find it.. We decided to go with HDC photographers, pictures I looked at look very beautiful and they don't mind traveling to La Romana for no extra cost. Also, they are quite flexible with their packages, so you can negotiate your own unique package to make it suite you and your budget here is their website, quite few ladies on here used them too http://www.hdcphoto.com/ - btw MrsEtienne2b, where abouts in UK are you from (sorry i am just nosy lol ) Btw, if any of you ladies planning to have your big day this February - March or in 2012, watch out for whale watching trip in La Romana...apparently 1000nds of whales are coming around there every year during that period and they can get you really close to them ...I know maybe its not everyone's cup of tea, but my fiance loved the idea and I thought I will share it with you gals Best of luck xoxo
  2. Hello ladies Really hope that you all doing well and you had a wonderful weekend! Have been crazy weekend for us, so didn't even get chance to thank you all for congratulating us with our big day confirmation! Thank you all so much We have decided to celebrate this occasion on Friday and have a lovely meal with some sparkling wine with my man And then busy weekend started next day with us looking after my SIL's kids all Saturday and trying to get her 40th birthday anniversary present too (which was a nightmare cos we couldn't find anything! ) but then last minute got her a lovely watch which she loved yay!!! Anyway, back to the point, when we were out looking for the present, we went to Bluewater with my fiance and completely accidentally I noticed that "Oriental Pearl" (for those who don't know, it's a bridal dress shop there) has opened another shop on upper level dedicated completely to bridal accessories (tiaras, bracelets, hair stuff everything!) So thought I will let you guys know, so you can check it out next time you will decide to go to Bluewater Unfortunately I wasn't able to check it out properly cos I was with my husband to be lol, and like any man he just wanted to get what we came there for and get out LOL but he promised we will come back next weekend yay, so I will let you ladies know then if I will see something good and maybe take some pictures Lyndsey - your shoes are fantastic!!! sooo beautiful!!! I was actually just looking at Dune shoes the other day and decided that if I wont find my "trendy hot pink" ones, I will go for one of those Fortunately I can get any heal size, the bigger the better cos i am 5foot 8 and my fiance is 6foot 2-3 LOL Nicy - cake topper you got is sooo cute as our "big day" is some time away we are not sure yet, will we go for monogram cake topper or for one of those personalized cake figurines...but yours looks really nice, so maybe we will steal your idea if you won't mind ;D waybulloo - I understand how you feel...my DIY skills are like non existing to be honest lol at some point last month I went a bit crazy and got to my head that I will DIY my wedding invitations (as there will be only about 17 of them)...but after many days of research and few attempts i just decided not to fool myself and order premade LOL However, after finding this forum, you ladies have inspired me again and maybe I will try and make myself thank you cards and tags for my welcome bags (if I decide to do them ) -...so maybe I will discover creative side of mine along the way LOL And that reminds me, what kind of invitations did you all go for? I was thinking to get boarding pass invitations from Etsy...i know it is a little bit risky cos they are based in US, but thought I will try cos they are sooo pretty...

So now we will officially becoming Mr&Mrs on 6th March 2012 @ 4pm!!!! 5. Nicy your shoes are stunning !!! and the bouquet jewel is sooo cute, if you don't mind me asking as well, where did you get it from?! roo - you are completely right, this site is sooo addictive!!! lol even my fiance noticed lol - he keeps asking me who I keep typing to every evening, so I told him about you gals!) I am from little place called St.Mary's Island, its between Chatham and Gillingham What about you roo? And the rest of you girls too? Maybe we are enighbours you never know Herbie OMG your dress is fantastic, soooo gorgeose!!!! Good luck to you with spin class hope you won't feel too bad after it x My fiance got us Kinect this xmas (it can map every part of your body) and it has personal trainer in there and yoga which is great, but I feel like dieing too after I do it. Been off sick for the last week with monster flu ..so not looking forward to starting my excercises again at all lol waybuloo - girl your dress is amazing!!! God i am sooo happy I have found mine already cos otherwise with all these beautiful dresses around I would have gone mad from choosing!!! and only 18 weeks left until your big day, yay! ) I am sooo excited for you and Nicy :Dx Michelle if you will by any chance came accross some nice hot pink shoes let me know lol I decided as there are no ivory ones for me, I will go with hot pink too xoxo
  6. Hi KrystalKelley, I know how you feel about paying for food and drinks at the reception, when you are in AI hotel!!!!!! lol didnt make much sense to be either....but as I understand this is more payment for their services (getting barman only for you and waiters) and menu is slightly different too. But as I was reading earlier on this thread, you can always discuss this with your wedding coordinator, they seem very helpful and understanding and together I am sure you will be able to come up with best solution for your big day. (for example maybe doing reception smwh closer to the bar so your guest will be able to get drinks themsself etc.) But either way I am sure it will work out just well ) On the other hand if you were to choosee semi-private option, you will have a place in the restaurant arranged just for your guests and you, but you will still have other people around you that came to dine there - but it can always be an option xoxo
  7. Wau Nicy!!! The trip sounds awesome!!! We did hear about this trip but were not sure about it to be honest...but after what you told me it will be our number one trip on the list ...oh could really use some paradise like this now too...its freezing and measurable outside! No worries about picture, you still look lovely and that starfish is incredible ) xoxo
  8. Hello Michelle! It's so nice to find a place like this with a lovely gals like you all for support and to share all this wonderful experience of planning the happiest day of our lives! My fiance proposed to me in November last year and since then we started to plan our big day, we wanted to get married in October, however after looking through finances decided to move it to March 2012! We are getting married in Dreams La Romana in DR, I personally never been there, but my fiance has been, so I trust him with it completely lol We booked it all just a couple of days ago, soooo exciting, we are leaving UK 29Feb and hopefully will be able to have our wedding on 6th of March. However I am still waiting for the TA to come back to me with confirmation. There will be only our closest friends and family there, but I am sure we will have tones of fun Michelle, I have been reading this thread and it's soooo helpful, gave me sooo many more ideas that I even decided to make a list lol Although our big day is still a year away, i know that time will pass very quickly ) xoxo
  9. Hello ladies! I am new to this site and just recently came across you lot - it's so nice to see someone from UK too! I am not getting married in Mexico, instead we decided to go for Dominican Republic (all booked in for March 2012), but even so thought I will say hi to all of you from another destination bride and good luck in planning! ) FYI, my heart goes to you ladies who don't get along too well with their MIL's...mine has been devil ever since we got engaged...(( but at least, looking at the bright side, now I know the way she really is and I will try and stay away from her as much as it is possible! Happy planning to all of you!!! xoxo
  10. Hello MrsEtienne2b, I have been fallowing this thread for quite some time, but just like you never found the time to contribute to it myself (hope this will change though ) Our big day is quite far off, March 2012 lol, however like many destination brides, I have started to organize everything as soon as we have booked! If it will be of any help, me and my fiancee decided to have our reception (around 17ppl) on the beach. I have got inspired by pictures of the bride on this thread about beach location and I think it will look awesome, together with a bonfire at the end of the night! And as it will be in the evening, there will be no people on the beach and I hope it will feel quite private. Just like you, after reading reviews about resorts DJ it put us off and as many brides here, we have decided to go with iPod dock solution. We will create loads of play lists and I am sure it will work a treat and after 11pm - off to the club! In regards to the documents...well me and my fiance are quite old fashioned and we wanted to get married once and for real in Dominican...however after calculating translation charges and increase in legal fees, we opted for the option of getting married in the UK (in secret) few weeks before we go away and have symbolic ceremony at La Romana. I know it might seem that all romance of getting married will disappear, however I know that we will see our La Romana wedding (in white dress and flowers etc.) as a real and the only wedding ! ) I am sorry if I wasn't of much help, but maybe it will put your mind at rest a little knowing that you are not the only bride out there worrying about these things! Btw, where abouts in the UK are you from? I am from Kent! )
  11. Hello ladies! This is my first time writing in the forum but, as many of you, I have been fallowing it for quite a while :D Me and my fiance are now in process of confirming our wedding in Dreams for beginning of March 2012!!! so when I found this forum I was very excited and after reading it all, thanks to all of you ladies, I feel like I have been to resort already and I have no worried about the weeding at all. As fanners85 mentioned above, congrats to all of you and you all look just pure beautiful I have been in touch with Yanna, so I know all the basics for now, however I have one question to those ladies who got married in Dreams already about make-up. Did you do it yourself or did you do it with a resort? And if you did how was it? And also, has anyone tried Etsy.com for invitations and wedding decorations? Their stuff looks awesome, but I thought I will see if I can get some feedback if someone used it already Thank you!
