  1. Where in Canada are you? If it's Toronto, Vancouver Or Calgary Alaskan or something might fly there with a stop over.
  2. Hello to all PV Brides to Be, We are getting married in Dec 2011 either at Dreams or Las Caletas haven't quite decided. I am looking for something to do with my girls, mom and sister and law for a stagette? I was thinking spa day and nice lunch or something, but not sure. Anyone have a good ideas of something they did or are thinking of doing? The boys are doing a fishing trip so we need something fun and girly! Thanks ladies! Jen
  3. I used photoshop, designed them myself. My printer, printed them on white linen paper, rounded the corners and perforated the end so they can rip it off to RSVP by mail. (There is stuff on the other side, and I will load a picture of that later) I bought black linen cardstock from the Scrapbooking store and had the printer score them in thirds. Then I cut the angle so you could see in at the invite and glue the end so nothing came out. I printed info sheets on the package that we secured with the TA on the teal paper behind the invite. Then all I did was wrap the sleeve in silver and teal ribbon. I found the "Eat Drink & Be Married" ribbon at Michael's on Clearance I had ordered the Dreams brochures to include with my invites ahead of time, so I wrapped the invite and the brochure with that ribbon!
  4. Dec 3rd 2011 - Dreams Puerto Vallarta Invites just went out Tuesday!
  5. Well after a lot of work we are all done our invites and they have all been delivered and mailed! Can't wait for the RSVPs to start coming in next week! Here they are
  6. And so it begins... We have just mailed and delivered the last of our invitations and now I have 10 months to sit back and relax with my planning... LOL... I hope. Here is what our invitations looked like in the end: I will post some of them all printed and made up tomorrow when I can download them from my phone! Feeling great about getting the invites done and in the mail.
  7. Hey ladies, do you know if Drinks are included in the private dinner price with the package?
  8. Hi Palapa Girl! How much are they charging you for the day and what are they doing specifically?
  9. The way that it works in Canada with the TAs is that we get a group quote and that price is guaranteed for 30 days (actual invite dates will change as I am still waiting for one additional quote). WestJet Vacations who we hope to use, prices their vacations cheapest at first and then more expensive closer to the date, which is the opposite of other carriers, but they also fly guests who arent going with packages and this is the reason. So the cheapest way is for our guests to pay the deposit and then they have until 60 days priop to departure to pay the remaining. Yes that is what I mean, RSVP online OR send back that portion of the invite. 90% of our guests will go online, but some aunts and uncles, grammma etc. doesn't have a computer! Thanks for pointing that out! I REALLY APPRECIATE that. I would have been so mad had I not seen that! Thanks for the feedback Karen, enclosed is more commonly used in Canada. We are weirdos, we spell it colour, theatre and neighbour! LOL French and British influence.
  10. I used Photoshop to create them. But you could us powerpoint or something if you didn't have Photoshop or Illustrator.
  11. Great idea! these are PERFECT! What font did you use for your names and "wedding day info"?
  12. White linen paper. I am making blueish sleeves for them out of metallic blue paper and add some ribbon and an embelishment of some sort. We also ordered the colour brochures from our TA to include in all the envelopes as further enticement for guest that might be on the fence about coming. A "Travel Itinerary" will have all the booking information and our website will have more info as well. I was thinking of putting the monogram starfish on there somewhere but it looked really busy. I will try and add maybe just the starfish as a watermark. Thanks for the input ladies!
  13. Hi ladies, here is my preliminary design for our invite/STD. Please let me know what you think. I am going to include a brochure/newsletter for all the travel agent info and booking. Thanks
  14. Hi Ladies, I have read all 139 pages of the Dreams Puerto Vallarta Thread and I didn't find an answer to this question. Are we required to pay extra for drinks at the wedding or are they included in the package and the private dinner price? Thanks for your help! Jen
  15. Just waiting on our confirmation from Dreams for our wedding on May 15 2011.
  16. Hi ladies, I just found this thread and would really like to join you for your little soiree if you will have me. My fiance and I JUST decided on a May 2011 wedding in PV and I am a little stressed and could use some input from all of you that have been planning for much longer than me! Please let me know if that is ok!
  17. Thanks for posting gowiththeflow. Â When you picked your date were you able to determine where you would have the reception at that point as well. I am thinking I would like to have it at Las Palmas. It looks like a good spot but I am also interested in Oceanside. Â As for the photographer, if you bring them as a guest you don't have to pay the fee? Â What WC have you been working with? Â So much to think about, but so much less then if we were to get married here, so I am thankful for that! Â Thanks for posting! I am excited to get this all going!
  18. We went down to dinner over looking the Bay of Banderas and had an amazing meal. Maybe the best salad ever. Beets, carrots, mixed greens, walnuts, apple and goat cheese. So good! Followed by a seafood plate with snapper, shrimp and scallops. Verde sauce and yummy broccoli. And tempura banana with kiwi sauce. All paired with excellent local wine. Â Â Following dinner one of the ladies that works at Verana came to our table and told us a surprise awaited us in the spa. I was so excited! We walked by flashlight to the spa and finally arrived there. Â What awaited me took my breath away........... Â Â There were hundreds of candles all over the spa. It was gorgeous. I cried as soon as we walked in. There was a coconut milk bath poured for us as well as a bottle of Veuve champagne (our favorite) and a fruit plate with cheese. Â Just as I told Nolan that my heart was ready to explode he excused himself and left me in the spa for a second where just sat and tried to calm down. It was really the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. When he came back I hugged and kissed him and thanked him for such an awesome surprise. Little did I know that wasn't the end of the surprises. He was just about to make my heart burst! Before I knew it, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. Between the tears, I jumped on him and hugged him and said "Yes! Yes thousand times yes!" I don't even think I looked at the ring for the first ten minutes! Just cried and hugged him and jumped around a lot! Â Â We spent another 10 days at this resort and extended from our original reservation of 7 days. It is the most unique and extraordinary place on earth. Nothing I have seen can compare, I am without words. Â An excellent honeymoon location. All the couples that we met there were indeed on their honeymoons and joked with my fiance about what he would do for the honeymoon to outdo the engagement... I guess we will have to see. Â Fairy Tale to be continued as we plan our wedding sometime next year!
  19. Hello ladies! Â There is so much info to weed through here which is awesome, but I am certain some of it is stale dated. I know I panicked when I read on here that fireworks were banned from Dreams PV, and my TA checked into it and they are allowed. YAY!! Â So I thought I would start a Dreams PV 2011 brides thread. You can post you wedding date and links to your planning thread and anything else you want. I know there is a brides date post already, but this might make planning easier. Â Our date isn't confirmed yet but we are thinking "Late April/Early May" just ironing out the details. Â Thanks for posting.
  20. Thanks so much for the suggestions I appreciate the input. I am leaning slightly toward PV because I would like to honeymoon where we were engaged in Yelapa. The smaller resort and one wedding a day at Azul is attractive though. Â It's really hard to decide. Â Murmel - Way it rainy in April? I am looking at end of April/May dates and I see that maybe the rainy season starts in May? There also seems to be conflicting dates for rainy season which is equally confusing.
  21. Does anyone have any recommendations? They both meet our requirements for food and children, but it's so hard to pick! Â Any suggestions would be appreciated!
  22. Taken from www.unusualhotelsoftheworld.com Check out www.verana.com as well. Floating above the Bay of Banderas and embraced by the mountains of the Valle de la Sierra Oriental rests VERANA. This small, personal hotel and spa, is as unusual as it is remote. 8-room outpost of VERANA never fails to enchant guests. Luxurious yet surrounded by unadulterated nature on all sides, it is an amazing destination for weddings, honeymoons and get-away-from-it-all packages that take advantage of the fine food, setting and spa. VERANA has just 8 guesthouses that dot the 5-acre property, lush with tropical plantings and fruit trees. All the guesthouses are unique in concept and feel. As Architectural Digest's Kathryn Harris said, "The bungalows are part of an ongoing play between inside and out, past and present, privacy and community, nature and manmade." The Bar serves up sunsets, signature cocktails and a wine list featuring international and local producers as well as a good selection of top shelf tequila from the region. Not to mention the gourmet food.   *************My Journey to being a Mrs. Begins Here********************  We arrive in PV 30 mins late and all I know is we have to take a boat 30 mins to our destination. We have a 40 min taxi ride from the airport to Boca de Tomatlan which is where the pier was located that we would board the boat. The taxi trip was crazy! The driver kept doing the sign of the cross and although he said the speed limit 60 kms he was clearly doing 80+.  The driver came up to us at the taxi and started to try and take our bags. I had no idea who he was and was pretty concerned as to why he was taking our bags the opposite direction of where we were headed. Nolan had seen him in the boat, so he knew that it was ok, but didn't pass this on to me.. LOL. He just let me sweat it for a while.  View from the Pier View from the water on the boat ride    We arrive after a gorgeous 40 minute boat ride to a dock with a rock face and some stairs. We have arrived at our destination. This is me looking concerned as the porter has to carry my 45 pound bag up some stairs. I felt like such a jerk!  My finace had told me before the trip to pack light because a mule would have to carry my bags up a mountain. This sounded to me like a ploy to get me to not over pack, so I packed like any one would for a 2 week vacation, 45 pounds. In my defense 10 of it was towels and toiletries that wouldn't fit in his bag Turns out the mule was not a lie! We had an uphill hike for about 20 minutes to get to our destination, and the mule carried our bags all the way to the top.   A sign for guests at the end of the public trail The sign welcoming you to Verana  Beautiful Lily pond The steps up to the dining area    So they finally let me in on the secret. The entire staff had been coached to not reveal that we were staying at Verana. I was told we were having dinner here. One of the porters gave us a tour of the property and sat us back down at the bar. FINALLY Nolan told me we were staying at the hotel. I was overjoyed and totally excited that we got to stay here. One of the lucky 8 couples at the resort. Yes that is right there are only ever 18 people at any one time.  The following pictures are of our "room" the tea house.   There were really no walls in this "room" and we had two living areas the "Tea House"/living room area and the bed room equipped with mosquito net, which made sleeping in the jungle feel more safe and very romantic. We woke up each day and looked at the bay through the mosquito net! They deliver (read sneek:)) coffee to your door with home baked goodies each day. AWESOME.  Ok back to the engagement story...................... TO BE CONITINUED posted pics takes a long time
