  1. Natalie79 - Those maracas are soo cute! I'm saving the link to my favorites so I can buy them later on! Thanks! Lady Di - I go back and look at your photos and planning all the time! It's just all so pretty and inspiring! So, I'm leaving this Friday for my friend's wedding in Puerto Morelos and we will do the site visit at the Royal on Monday, Oct 18th! I cannot wait to see this place in person! AND do the food tasting! Yum! I had my first hiccup with my WC...She wanted to move the site visit to a different time, but my TA stepped in and reminded her that the site visit had been booked for over a month. PHEW! We would not have been able to do the site visit at all if it got rescheduled because we have to catch our flight home the same day. The only thing I am concerned about is getting from Puerto Morelos to the Royal. The only thing I can think of is to ask the shuttle service (if they have one) at the hotel we are staying at if they can drive us to the Royal. I don't think taking a 45 min. - an hour long cab ride will be affordable or safe... Does anyone have any advice? CONGRATS to all the recent October brides!! CAN'T wait to see pictures and planning!!   4. Hey JHarris - She still quoted me the $350 vendor fee, so no luck there. But at least the on the other things we will save a few hundred dollars. I still haven't decided which package to use; I guess when the time gets closer I'll know exactly what I want and need! Â
  5. Thanks so much Sarah! You ROCK! Â Â Just a little tidbit for everyone...I booked my 2011 wedding in 2010 and I asked my WC if we could use the 2010 prices and she said YES! Super excited! Â Also, I got signed up with basecamp right after booking my date and my WC, Martiza, has responded in a very timely matter. everything has being going great so far. Knock on wood! Â Â
  6. Hola ladies! I just wanted to drop in and say hi. So, I thought I posted a realllly long reply on here on Thursday, 9/16/10, but it looks like it never showed up. Oh well. Â I'v been trying to keep with all the posts, but work (and life!) has been so crazy! Â Anyways, everyone has been a ton of help as always! I love checking out the updates and new ideas. Welcome to the new brides! Â This peso thing kind of worries me. It's just another thing unexperienced travelers (my parents!) will have to worry about. Oh well they need to experience Mexico once in their lifetime, right?! Â Jennifer - I feel for you! That would drive me bananas!!! Sorry and I hope everything works out! Â Â Â As for my planning...We took our Engagement pics almost 3 weeks ago and now we are just waiting to receive them so we can order our STD magnets. I am in a friend's wedding in October in Puerto Morelos, so we are going to fit in a site visit at the Royal while we are there! I cannot wait! I'll try to post some pictures if I can figure out how to upload them by then! Â Has anyone made a spreadsheet comparing the Luxury package to any of the other packages?   7. Gosh! I am so behind on the posts! Work has been crazy!  Anyways, welcome to the new brides!! What happened to all the subscriptions?! That was my lifeline!  I really need to get my butt in gear and make a spreadsheet to compare the Luxury package vs. the other packages to figure out the best option!  Just an update on my planning... My FI and I took our engagement pics about 3 weeks ago and we are just waiting to get them back so we can make our photo magnet STD's. I'm also working on my wedding website so it's finished by the time the STD's arrive. Then we can start getting people booked! I'm really happy so far with my TA. If anyone needs her info. just send me a PM. I guess once people start booking we'll find out how things are going!  I know someone asked about the house DJ services for the Royal. I emailed my WC a few weeks ago and asked if there was a way to book/reserve Doremixx for the reception or if it's just decided a week beforehand and she responded, "Doremixx is confirmed for your reception." So, I guess that's taken care of!  This is the DJ info. she gave me: DJ INFORMATION DJ Service equipment: 02 Speakers JBL 15†02 Robotic Lights 04 Par 64 Led’s DJ Booth (With Mixer Rane and Double CD player Denon 4500, or turntables) Wireless Microphone (Speeches and announcements) Professional DJ (He can do the announcements) 02 Cold fireworks (See enclosed photo, ask to your wedding coordinator if they permit these cold fireworks) Smoke machine, Bubble machine (Available only Indoors) Souvenirs (Giant Balloons, balloons, light sticks, masks) Music from the 70’s, 80’s to the best music playing today with different genres.   8. Hi Ashley! Welcome! I had a hard time figuring out where to start and what I wanted also so I contacted a few travel agencies. They asked me a lot of questions about what I wanted on the day of the wedding, what was most important and what my budget was. Then they came up with 3-4 options for me to review and we went from there. I ended up choosing one from the first three I looked at! Best of luck and congrats!!

  10. Hola! I booked my wedding at the Royal in PDC also! The date is July 22, 2011!! I've been trying to keep up with the Royal thread as much as possible; it's super helpful! CONGRATS to everyone! Â I don't consider myself a planner, but it's starting to get fun! Â Heidi
  11. Hola! I am a 2011 bride! I booked my wedding for July 2011 at the Royal in Playa Del Carmen. We just signed the contract with our TA and will be putting a deposit down on Monday for our group rates at the hotel. We also got set up with a WC from the Royal and she has been really great in keeping up with my messages. Next weekend we are taking engagment pictures and once we get those we can start working on our STD's! I want to do a magnet STD with a picture of us on it, so we have to wait until we get the engagment photos back. Â All of this planning is so exciting and I never considered myself a "planner"! It seems like our date is soooo far away, but at least it's less than year from now. Â Best of luck to everyone! Â
  12. Wow! I thought I was the only one with these thoughts! I don't really want a shower either b/c it's so awkward and the whole gift giving thing is hard. My FI and I own a home together and have been living together for just over a year now. We have *almost* everything we need. Â I don't have any family in town except my parents, so maybe it won't happen! Â Good luck to everyone!

  16. Thanks y'all! I can't wait to see everyone's pictures and hear how their big day turns out! I am becoming obsessed with finding pictures of different ways to set up the wedding and reception there! Â I have a question - Did y'all go with group bookings or individuals bookings for your guests accomodations? I am not sure what the best route is. We got a quote from the travel agent we selected for 15 rooms at a group price. Then she told me that after those 15 rooms get booked they can not guarantee the rates for anyone else who books. What?! Â Â Happy Hump Day!

  19. I am thinking about the Gran Porto Real or the Royal in Playa Del Carmen. I am going to a destination wedding in the Riviera Maya this October and it just popped into my head that duh! I should go do a site visit while I am already there! Can't wait to see something in person!
  20. Hi ladies! I am a newbie on here and I have just been "lurking around" on my lunch breaks!! I am in Houston too and hopefully a soon to be DW bride!!! I am looking in the Riviera Maya area and have a few ideas for a location. I hope to nail something down and book it mid-late next week. Tentatively my date is set for November 12, 2011! It's so far away but I can't wait! I think I live near a lot of you too! I am off TC Jester in the Cottage Grove neighborhood! Can't wait to see you pictures and keep up with your planning! I need to check out this boot camp thing! I run at Memorial 2-3 times a week, but I'm definitely far from being toned! What a great site! Heidi
  21. I really have to do next fall because I'm already in two destinations this year (one in October, one in December) and I'm another wedding in June in TX. I have to give my friends (and myself!) time to save up money for *another!* destination wedding and I don't want to jam pack all of our schedules. Have you annouced that you are having a DW to your family / friends via conversations, emails or anything? How many bridesmaids are you thinking about? I am getting worried about announcing it! Gulp!
  22. Hi! I am new to this website and it is awesome!!! I got engaged about 3 weeks ago and we have starting looking into destination weddings in the Riviera Maya area. I contacted Beach Bum Vacations and one of the coordinators there recommended the Gran Porto Real! I am so glad I found this website and can read up on it! I like the ballroom idea for a the reception part as well. I don't want everyone to get sick of being at the beach! I'm thinking about a November 2011 wedding there. So far away! What WC's are you working with? Can't wait to hear and see more from y'alls weddings!
