  1. Wow you pictures are sensational, looks like u had a fun group and a perfect day!! Congrats
  2. FOLLOW UP: I ended up wearing a long veil on the beach for my wedding. It was windy and there was a storm that was due to hit and I was fine with my veil here are some pics of it. BTW I bought 2 veils a long one and short one for my reception dress. and paid $30 for both on ebay!
  3. Thanks for the info! Quote: Originally Posted by Sllefebvr @ Soon2BNJersey Room service? Well the beaches/sandals resorts have butler rooms!! So if you get one of those then yes!! It is about a 90 minute ride from the airport!!!
  4. Negril is on our checklist, can't wait to go there next...I hear they DO have the BEST sunsets! Do they have room service? how far from the airport? (cause RIU Ocho Rios is almost 2 hours away from montego bay)
  5. we did RIU in Ocho Rios. We fell in love with the resort before we even go there. We chose Ocho Rios because it was beautiful, much larger than Montego Bay and More things to do. Check out my review for full details. After my trip I am quite happy with RIU as a whole. loved it!
  6. Congrats akamikey11 you were a timeless beauty! Can't wait to ready your review! 7. i have seen heels, flats, and barefoot. What I did was wear my flip flops my feet were barely visible and I decided that I would make sure I was comfortable that day. My bridesmaids had on low heels and they did just fine

  9. Hi Karen, I was recently married there and I will share what i know: 1. Semi Private Dinner - Mamee Bay Steakhouse is the usual choice since it's included in the free package. In order to have dinner other places there are more fees involved. (message me with your email if you want to see the current menu) Private Dinner - At Plantation you could book a private dinner at $500 for 2 hours and $1000 for 4 hours. If you want to add music you will pay extra for that too. (i have that menu too) If you book the poolside reception, or the beach party you will pick from either menu i believe and pay per person (not including a DJ) 2. First Dance - The only way you can do that is to pay or a private space as specified above. After your wedding see if Keisha will let u do your first dance in the beach gazebo right on the beach, its worth a shot since the sound system will already be out there for your ceremony. 3. Photographer - For all of the money you will spend on the vendor fee ($350) for an outside photographer plus the photo package, you might as well pay to fly in your own photographer. if they are a guest at the resort you don't have to pay the vendor fee. if you decide to do this, get it in writing via email and bring a copy when you arrive. It cost me $950 for my photographer's flight and accommodations. I got unlimited pictures from thursday to sunday. HOWEVER: you cannot use the resort's videographer unless you book their photographer. I know, messed up right? 4. Renova Spa - I didn't use their services. I did my own hair and makeup. I was going for a simple natural look. (I also have the pricelist if you want me to send) 5. Upgrades - I GOT AN UPGRADE! I paid originally for a junior suite, I told them I was getting married and it was smaller than I thought, and it actually had a "moldy" smell from water damage. I had 30+ guests and the offered to upgrade to a suite for FREE! (pics in my review check it out) 6. Flowers - You are correct, the free flowers have toooo many colors for me so I opted to bring my own real touch calla lillies from (afloral.com) I used 24 callas per bouquet they worked out fine and traveled great. Note: use real rose petals on the beach silk petals are not allowed. (i have pics of the flowers from Tai flora if u want as well) NO worries, I know its tough but your gonna have a blast! Ask away... Glad to help ~Ericka
  10. I didn't have to pay for the sound system for the ceremony, it was set up for free. I would check with Keisha on that one.
  11. check out the RIU Ocho Rios thread, tons of information and pics... http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/70511/ror-brides-riu-ocho-rios
  12. hey subbbiiiii! you looked flawless! and everything looks great as well. awwwww (happy tears for you)
  13. Idea: After your ceremony and after the pictures, the outdoor sound system is still set up, maybe they will allow you do to a first dance and a dance with your father in the beach gazebo. your guests are already there and it would only be a little extra time added on. I saw a couple have dinner at the gazebo at night with candles and lighting. just the two of them...so it doesn't hurt to ask Keisha, just a thought. As for me, the cost of the DJ is why i got the disco. $600 for 2 hours including DJ, open bar, and private area.
  14. I know she had some pretty tasty dreams and thoughts about Eric and Bill.. that girl was totally confused at the end. I am still mad about "TARA! and Lafayette and Jesus... BUT hey ding dong the witch is dead, FINALLY RIGHT?? I am a die hard fan, but I have a question... you remember the vampire who was at Jason's door, wasn't he in charge of that group Jason used to be with and how did he die, i forgot...help! oooh one more question. Was it Russel (the former king) that dug out of the parking garage????
  15. Thanks! and I don't mind at all, I did the review in microsoft word and copy/paste in the review section, i then added the pics afterwards. If you want me to email you the word document PM me your email address.
  16. We selected the free wedding package ($350US) with the beach gazebo ceremony (3:00pm) and semi private dinner at mamee bay at 6:30. We did the private disco rental from 8:30-10:30 with the last half hour free. ($600 includes DJ and open bar). When we saw how small the room was with all of the wedding traffic we told them that we expected a larger room than the junior suite that we brought 32 people is there anything they can do. They agreed to do a free upgrade. My mom, maid of honor, and friend also got free upgrades from standard rooms to junior suites. Try your luck. I didn't have an upgrade with my wedding package. I didn't get the caprice package because I got my nails, pedicure and hair done before I got there. I was able to style it and do my own makeup. I didn't care much about a free t-shirt. the free package was the way to go for me.
  17. hey Ladies, I finally did my review from my 9/10/11 w/ a few pics check it out: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/riu-ocho-rios-all-inclusive/reviews/5074 If anyone has questions about RIU (Ocho Rios) please feel free to contact me Soon2BNJersey (Ericka)
  18. wedding twin! you better work that camera, if this is just a sample I know your other pics are FIERCE too!!! Congrats again!
  19. your next chica! I am a new Mrs!!! I had a great time and my review will be posted for RIU Ocho Rios Tomorrow. I made sure I had Deep woods off w/ Deet because those bugs are crazy at night. sunblock and lip balm w/ SPF (you can get sunburn there too) LOL bring some comfy shoes, sneakers, and water shoes, you never know what you might get into. lastly enough sunblock so you have enough to reapply. 30+spf means in 30 min u have to re-apply or be burnt LOL bring enough! I wore strapless bathing suits so I wouldn't get tan lines. and for make up. I am glad I didn't get airbrush that would have been too heavy for me. I sweat!! i used Mac Studio Fix Fluid w/ SPF after I dabbed the color still stayed perfectly with flawless coverage all day! OOH and I also packed a citronella candle in my bag when I wanted to sit on my balcony with friends. You will be fine, enjoy and congrats!
  20. we booked room 1161 we originally booked an oceanfront junior suite and asked for an upgrade which they did for us FREE. So we upgraded to a Suite It had a sitting area that stepped down from the bed. a Jacuzzi next to the bed, a large bathroom, walk in shower, a huge balcony and much more. here are the pics and view from my room which was right above the beach gazebo. BONUS! If you plan to have a lot of traffic this room has the most space. We didn't get the jacuzzi suite because we stayed in the pool or beach and we only used out jacuzzi in our room 2x. This room is the same size room without the outdoor jacuzzi. so worth it!! AND HERE IS THE JUNIOR SUITE: HERE IS THE STANDARD ROOM AND FINALLY THE JACUZZI SUITE: also Try Trip Advisor they have loads of pics: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g147312-d578213-Reviews-ClubHotel_Riu_Ocho_Rios-Ocho_Rios_Jamaica.html
  21. we're back!!! I will be posting my review this week ladies, I had a blast and feel free to ask an questions. For dinner I would say Mamee Bay Steakhouse for the semi private. I saw people book the private dinner at plantation (which has birds walking around where you eat during the day) and poolside (which is smaller than it looks) the beach party at seagrape (which is right under the stage area so your music may be hard to hear)
  22. Ladies, We are back and I had a blast in Jamaica, You would never believe the change in events. a few weeks prior to the wedding, My new maid of honor and my original maid of honor switch back. I know crazy right? but at the end of the day it taught my original maid of honor to pay better attention and be honest with me. I am glad I switched back to my original maid of honor because she was a HUGE help on the wedding day! She is a cater and knows weddings and events backwards and forwards. she kept me cool calm and collected and I couldn't have gotten married without her. This wedding road was a rocky one with my bridal party but at the end of the day..the one who cared the most stepped up and all else just enjoyed the spotlight. Word of advice, choose your party carefully, but be patient with them too.
  23. Beach Gazebo Semi Private Reception Dinner Poolside Private Reception (price is per person) Pond Gazebo
  24. Toya It's time to enjoy with no worries, have a beautiful wedding day I wish you and the hubby to be all the best
