  1. He is almost 7 years older than me... we don't even notice the age difference! I have always been mature for my age and he's just a kid at heart so it works out great for us. Plus he's Filipino and they hardly ever look their age so that's a bonus! lol
  2. My dad is from India, my mom is from Pakistan and I was born in Italy... we now all live in Canada.
  3. Ooooh good to know, thanks Princess J! When is your wedding?
  4. All these dresses are so beautiful!! I'm still looking for mine... will post a pic when I find one!
  5. I'd much rather have a meaningful keepsake from the shower that I can look at down the line and relive those memories... most DW brides feel guilty about having showers because they don't want their guests to feel obligated to attend and purchase yet another gift. The cost of attending the wedding is expensive enough so I totally feel the same! But a keepsake gift (be it a scrapbook, photo journal, recipe book, etc) is something that I think most guests will enjoy being a part of. Â
  6. I was thinking of tying guest's names to large finger starfish with ribbon and standing them up on a tray filled with sand... I have yet to find the starfish though! With under 3 months to go, I better get a move on!! lol
  7. Why is it that centerpieces from the resort cost an arm and a leg?! My WC sent me some options that we could use and the cheapest was $25 and it was a pathetic looking little thing! The nice ones run $60 and up... Â I'm bringing my own centerpieces down, and will just have petals scattered instead of flowers. I refuse to use fake flowers at my wedding.
  8. Update: I've found turquoise sashes! Â Still looking for - 30 purple sashes, 1 turquoise parasol, 1 Thank You parasol, and about 30 large finger starfish. Â Thanks!
  9. Thanks! I meant the pashmina tags on the scarf itself... couldn't care less if the price tag was on the or not. Now that I know it's on there, I may just order from ebay. The price is definitely waaaay better! And if the quality is the same, why not right?
  10. Exactly! A shower is a tradition that most guest enjoy attending... well, a bridal shower anyways. I've seen people rolling their eyes when the words baby shower come up. LOL
  11. What a fantastic idea and tradition! Â I would like to join dc22173's CLEAR starfish line-up I'll be in GPR in Playa del Carmen from November 21-28, 2010
  12. wow ladies I sure am glad to hear I'm not the only one having BM issues... lol (sorry, that sounds kinda bad!) And here I thought having a DW was supposed to be easy and worry-free! Â I have 2 co-MOH's (my 2 younger sisters) and 2 BM's... originally had 3 BM's but one of my best friends can't afford to go (2 babies and her hubby was laid off this week - with her just returning to work from mat leave they are barely getting by). She was totally up front with me and I completely understand her situation. No hard feelings at all. Of course it sucks that she cant' be there, I was her MOH and threw her bridal and baby showers, etc but what can you do? Just rolling with it... Â Here's my problem: my parents are completely against my marrying FI (different religions) so they've basically disowned me. FI's parents are happy for us and supportive, thank God! My sisters both live with my mom and she is now saying that she forbids them to go to my wedding. They are 23 and 18 so they can make their own decisions but obviously they are trying not to piss off my mom any further. My dad refuses to have anythign to do with my mom's decision (they are divorced and barely speak to each other anyways). My sisters both swear up and down that they will be there no matter what but there is a very slight possibility now that they won't be able to. Â One of my BM's, who I've been best friends with for about 12 years now has been completely MIA during this whole wedding planning process. FI and I got engaged in Dec 2009 and the wedding is in Nov 2010... with 3 months left she has yet to step up to anything. She lives about a 1 1/2 hour ferry ride away so of course I don't expect to see her as much as my other bridesmaids but she does come down quite often to visit family, etc. She even stays with us and treats our place like a hotel during most visits! FI wants me to just 'vote her off the island' but I feel like I'll lose a friend over it. She just refuses to talk wedding or participate in dress shopping or anything! This past weekend I went dress shopping with my BM's and she didn't even have the courtesy to returns my call/text/email to say she couldn't make it. We just assumed she was busy and carried on. We send her pictures and asked for her feedback but I have yet to hear from her. I have sent her a total of 2 emails, 4 text messages, and left her 3 voicemails. I just dont' know what to do with her!! She's booked her trip so I know she's coming to the wedding but I feel that she's just coming for the trip and to party, not really to be there with me for my wedding. Â So sorry about the long rant but I feel a little better now!
  13. I for one am looking forward to my shower... my bridesmaids are throwing it in a couple of weeks (I'm not a big fan of surprises). I've hosted and attended countless bridal and baby showers over the years and I love how they bring everyone together. I'm so looking forward to seeing what my bridesmaids come up with for mine since I've been to go-to person for everyone who needed help and ideas for showers within our circle of friends. Â As for gifts... It's not about the gifts at all, it's the experience. I'm looking forward to having a girly afternoon with my closest friends and family. I haven't registered anywhere because I actually do not want gifts. FI and I have been living together for almost 2 years now and we certainly do not need anything. I've asked my bridesmaids to come up with something creative that guests can contribute towards and that be a keepsake from my shower instead of having guests give me traditional gifts. I'm hoping I get some sort of memory book or scrapbook, how fun would that be?! Â
  14. It states that they are new without tags - did yours come with tags?
  15. They're gorgeous dresses! If you don't mind me asking... where did you get them made? I'm looking to have my rehearsal dinner dress made and would prefer someplace local.
  16. OMG took me forever and a half to come up with our color combo!! My fave colors are hot pink and purple... and FI's is dark blue. But he absolutely hated the idea of hot pink at our wedding. Â So... I tried different combos with purple but he turned them all down! LOL We ended up with purple and chartreuse but in the end I changed my mind and decided to go with purple and turquoise. I now LOVE LOVE LOVE my colors!
  17. These are fantastic! Congratulations on your wedding!! Â Where did you get the cards printed?
