  1. Hi Everyone, I'm also looking for a flower shop to buy flowers by the bulk. I actually just need flower petals for guests to toss after the ceremony. I'm making the cones myself. I have contacted all the places above, hopefully I'll hear from them soon. If anyone else knows of any other place I can contact, I'd really appreaciate it. Thanks
  2. Hi! I agree with LisaAndDre as well! I never take favors home with me unless they are edible or used for drinking purposes I'm getting married in Mexico, and we're not allowed to bring liquids, food or candy into the country... so I'm also lingering with the idea of shot glasses. Although it would be nice to order chocolate truffles from a local chocolate store in Mexico. i have to do some research... Thanks for sharing your ideas guys! this has been really helpful!
  3. Hi LAH 1113 I'm getting married on Nov. 4th. We've been told by many locals that the weather in Nov is great! We also thought about the potential risk of hurricanes. But after looking at airfare and hotel rates, Nov. just seems to be a much better option for us price wise. Though, no matter what month, there's always a risk I guess. We went to a wedding in the RM in Feb. and many flights were cancelled because of the weather here in the US. I also went there for work last April, and got stuck indoors because of pouring rain everyday I was there. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a sunny day! Good luck to you as well!
  4. Hi Everyone! I'm very interested in hiring them as well! It would be helpful to know who, especifically, has the best reviews from this company... Does anyone remember the name of their Dj? To all future brides who will be having DJ Mannia, please check back and tell us about your DJ and if you liked him or her. Thank you
  5. Hi Ladies! Mandi- About the packages at the GV RM, I guess it depends on how many guests you're having. We anticipated about 80 (but as we get closer it seems more like 60), so our package is a la carte, meaning nothing is included. The WC at the resort are very nice, but of course, they have to stick to the resort's policy and rules... I actually just back from the GV last night. We went to meet the coordinator, try the foods, and select a venue for our cocktail reception. I was floored by the food tasting, SIMPLY AMAZING! The service is phenomenal too, they make you feel like royalty We decided to have our cocktail reception by the pool... it was a difficult decision because the resort has so many beautiful options. About vendors, we hired a separate photographer and DJ. Cost wise, it is the smart thing to do. The resort is charging us 10% of our total cost with our vendor, but it's still much cheaper than using the resort's photographer and DJ, plus all the equipment rental. In all honesty, I'm really happy we chose this Resort I hope you find this helpful!
  6. Hi Ladies, I'm getting married at the GV in Riviera Maya in Nov, and I'm super excited!!! We're still trying to decide on whether we should have the reception by the pool or by the beach. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  7. Hi mexbride49, I'm getting married in Nov, and I'm going to meet my wedding coordinator next week, as well as decide on a location for my cocktail reception. Where are you guys having your cocktail and main reception? Are you hiring any outsdie vendors? We hired an outside photographer and are considering in hiring an outside Djay as well. Have you decided on your menu yet?
  8. Thank you! You are totally right, I may need to ship this. I'll start looking into that. Thanks for your help!
  9. Hi Ladies! I'm getting married in Playa as well. We're thinking about getting cigars while we're in Mexico to give to our guests as favors, and we'd like to make monogrammed matches and bring those with us. Does anyone know if these can be shipped in advance or if I can bring them with me in the plane? Will greatly appreciate your input, Thanks!
  10. I'm still unsure about trashing my wedding dress. I spent an insane amount of money on my dress, (I don't regret it one bit, I love dress!) but I just can't picture myself going into the ocean with it... and I can't seem to find anything that looks like THE dress at a cheaper price... I guess it kinda has to look somewhat similar to the dress that I wear on the wedding day. Does it? I'm still debating... this is the hardest decision!
  11. Hi Everyone! I'm a 2011 bride as well, and my wedding is Next November! I'm super excited to start the year count down!
  12. Thank you! Yes, I definitely want to convince my FI about registering for things for our honeymoon! I'll forward him the link, thanks for the tip!
  13. Hi, I'm looking for a DJ in the Playa del Carmen area... Do you know if he works for just weddings? or does he also work for clubs and lounges in the area? I'd like to hire someone who has experience doing both... Thanks!!
  14. I'm totally not into bridal showers, ugh! But our families are asking us to register because they want to throw us (me, rather) a bridal shower. And I'm not even sure what to register for? there's really nothing we need, because we've lived together for 6 years, and have stocked up on everything you possibly imagine for our home. I've heard that couples now a days are registering for travel and honeymoons... which I think would be ideal! BUT my fiance feels that we should be paying for our own honeymoon and not aunt Rosie and uncle Bill... etc. etc. I just don't know what to do.... I don't see the point in registering for stuff we don't need or stuff that is going to sit in the china cabinet collecting dust. The only thing we could use right now is a new couch, but I can't register for that... I would never hear the end of it! does anyone had any suggestions? I'm also not thrilled with the idea of opening gift at my bridal shower... I just find it silly to be surrounded with family and friends and have them sit and watch open gifts when we could be doing something much more fun! My friends know how much I despise bridal showers so they know not to throw me one, but it's mostly my FI's family that insists in having one... I don't know how to let them know that would much rather skip the 'opening of the presents' part and just have a cocktail party wih music and watch everyone have a good time instead.
  15. Our wedding is not until Nov. 2011, but we're sending out our STD tonight, lol! I know it sounds crazy, but we rather give everyone plenty of time to save $ and make travel arrangements. The STD include our wedding website, which will have info on the resort and TA information. I'm also allowing guests to RSVP on the website, which hopefully will be helpful. However, I'm concerned for my guests that don't have access to the web (for example: our grandparents, etc.). Not sure how to go about providing them with all the info that's on my website. Any suggestions?
  16. Sammyhawk: thanks for the tip on the David Bridal Sale! Where else can I get a moderately cheap wedding dress for the TTD? I'm not comfortable buying it on ebay...
  17. Thank you ladies! Yes, we had a blast! The funny thing is that it was a windy day, and my dress was all over the place! lol! I had a hard time posing for the pics and keeping it from blowing up and flashing everyone in sight! There were moments that the wind lifted my skirt so high that the skirt was on face! OMG! I was so embarrassed! it just made it that much fun though! In one of the pics above, the one where we're sitting on the wagon, you can see my fiance holding down my skirt, lol!
  18. I also tried on a Vera Wang dress and the minute I tried it on, I knew it was the one! I did not want to take it off! I cried hysterically! I loved it so much that I bought it right then and there Here's my advice: try on dresses from the previous season, for example, my dress is from the spring 2010 collection, just as her spring 2011 collection came out and I got a great deal! 20% off! I'm not sure if a Vera knock off can come close to the real thing... it's worth a try, but definitely try looking for the real ones on sale first. I dream of the day I can finally wear mine (knowing it's the real thing)!
  19. I'm also planning on doing TTD pictures on the day after the wedding and using a second dress for this shoot. I have THE dress, but haven't found the second one yet... I'd like to go for something flowy as well... anyone know where I can get cheap dress?
  20. I agree with you all! It really saddens me to think that people are so ignorant and go by whatever they hear in the news about Mexico and automatically assume that the whole country is under attack, when in reality it's no more dangerous than in some of our own cities. I was in the Riviera Maya twice this year, and not once did I encounter a glimpse of violence. I even asked the wedding coordinators that I met while I was there if they heard of any violence in the area, and they all laughed at me! They explained that it happens in remote areas of the country, far (hours away!) from Cancun and the Riviera Maya. I only asked because my inlaws made me so paranoid since the moment we mentioned our plans for a DW in Mexico. I was happy to report to them that we saw nothing wrong with having our wedding in Mexico, and that we booked our wedding there! We're giving our guests 14 months notice to our DW, and we hope everyone can make it! For those who can't make, I really hope is not due to mere ignorance. It's their loss!
  21. We had our engagement photoshoot on Jun. 30th (by Studio Manhattan) at Liberty State Park. It was a gorgeous day!
  22. Thank you Ladies! This really helps a lot, I'm getting married in Nov 2011, and I'm not sure about using the make-up artist and hair stylist from my resort either... Adrian's work looks fab!
