  1. I can second that Vanessa is really the best and ONLY floral artist - she was the first in Cancun and unfortunately for her everyone just copied her ideas.....this is the way down here!

  3. Welcome! It is difficult to find someone who didn't like the resort where they stayed...some are much easier to deal with! Dreams is a great option and we love their gazebo and deck by the beach for private receptions
  4. Welcome! With the new beach the hotel has just "received" I am sure you will have a faboulos wedding.
  5. Welcome! As a local I can just tell you that you will be having a great time in any of the resorts. Dreams Riviera is just a bite more upscale than NH for my taste and have plenty of areas for private events....and I love their special gazebo.
  6. Welcome! Both resorts are great - as you said Dreams is more wedding oriented but Paradissus does wedding all year long as well...so any of those will work well for sure
  7. Welcome! I am sure you meant 2011 or maybe another month... Well there are so many beautiful resorts and all of them very different in style and price. I suggest you do a list of your priorities and from there start picking your top 3-4
  8. Welcome! I am sure you will find all you need on this forum......and Excellence PLaya Mujeres is a great choice...one of our favorite hotels!
  9. Originaly, Mariachi are from Mexico City and the Guadalajara region - there you can hire them for nothing. Locals use them all the time for Birthday and any celebrations. Now the one that are in Cancun/ Riviera Maya are dedicated to tourism and got used to hotels and are VERY expensive. If you contract them from outside, $700.00 is normal for a 8-10 piece Mariachi. The trick from the resortsl is that they hire a Mariachi band on a daily base: what they do is use the one they contract for their Mexican restaurant, and ask them to swing by to your receptions....this is why resorts can come up with great rates.
  10. Well I just wanted to let everyone know that the beach recovery project in Cancun is almost finished....some hotels have now a beach space they have never had in 20 years!! This is great news because events can now be done right on the beach again...a unique setting. here is a press release: Recognized around the world for their unique beauty, the beaches of Cancun have almost terminated a fantastic recovery project whose results are already visibly astounding... Cancun tourists and locals couldn't be happier! The project commenced on September 4th, 2009 delivering more than two thousand tons of pipeline material to destination and more than 1.3 billion gallons (6.1 million cubic meters) of sand to replenish all of Cancun's Hotel Zone seashore. These videos show the process used to create this new beach and the infrastructure involved: YouTube - Beach recovery in Cancun - Time-lapse - December 2009 YouTube - Cancun's beach recovery project With a investment of $71 millions dollars, sponsored by the state and federal government, local municipalities and private investors, the project will create a spectacular beach oasis of more than 131 feet (40 meters) in width between Punta Cancun and Punta Nizuc. The project is expected to be completed early February 2010 and then will be moving south to the Playacar area of Playa Del Carmen and eventually over to specific beaches on Isla Cozumel in the near future.
  11. Welcome - the forum will help you a lot! Good Luck
  12. Welcome! There are quite a few threads on Gran Bahia Principe so I am sure you will find great information
  13. Well you normally need a working visa for this kind of events, same applies for musicinas. BUT...we have never had any problems when the photographer just says he is a friend of the bride/groom and he is coming to take picture of their wedding....meaning he is not coming for work...and that is ok! With regard to material, if he comes in with 3-4 cameras it may be a problem, but with 1-2 it is ok. The all thing is that Mexican Government doesn't want people to come in and resell cameras!
  14. keep checking the forum...it is a great ressource. Welcome!
  15. Welcome! I am sure you will find a lot of info on the forum....we love private villas, and have decorated quite a few.
  16. The WC at La Amada is also taking care of Excellence PLaya Mujeres so ...a lot to do...and that is the reason it may take a bite long...but the property is absolutely great. Not sure the size of your party but you almost feel the hotel is just for your wedding...we did a great one in December and will publish pictures on our website because they were fantastic!

  22. there are many restaurants on 5th Avenue that do weddings - the oter options are beach cluba depending on the size of the group. Dinner cruise: unfortunately because it is open sea there is nothing in the PLaya del Carmen area.
