  5. Hello everyone, A friend of mine is getting married at the Riu Palace Punta Cana in Feb 2011. I've noticed a few brides posting here for this location, but not a dedicated thread. Hoping to get one going. Please post any information you may have...menus, pictures, photographer recos, etc....and of course questions another bride might be able to answer. Thanks!!!
  6. Hey ladies, so as you may remember from a few pages back my date and time were given away while I waited for them to tell me how to make a deposit... I am now being told the Central Garden is available. Is this new? I don't recall seeing any pictures for this for the wedding, only the reception? We are still debating what to do... Any advice/your thoughts would be wonderful. oh also, does anyone know if the fridge in the room has a little freezer? Thanks!

I think we'll be there Wednesday to Wednesday. No earlier times The good news....Del Sol pulled through today, they sent me like 30 slide shows with the location and which wedding planners did them, so freaking awesome! Melissa their office coordinator deserves huge props! I am also waiting to hear on the Gran Porto gazebo... but I am sure it will be days.. Right now we are leaning toward the Xcaret for the wedding, but staying at the Royal for the week.

I think we will still stay at the resort but have the wedding fully outside. Going to email Matt at Del Sol, they've been super helpful and I am sure they will have excellent suggestions.
  9. I've been back and forth with Jael.... today I was told that my date and time won't work at the Gazebo. I am rather frustrated (lots of crying)... as I already booked Kool Beach Club that night and del sol, so no changing now. I was ready to make a deposit, but it took them forever to get back to me, I had to email them for a third time today and finally it was... oh it's not available. I have no idea what to do Maybe they can put us in the Gran Porto Gazebo? Rosieposie, looks like we'll be down there the same time. My date is May 21, 2011

  11. Welcome to the forum. You have picked a very popular resort, you will find lots of information on here! I am also getting married at the royal in May 2011. There is a thread with tons of info....I started from the last page and worked backwards, found it easier. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo.../index563.html Enjoy!!!
  12. We did a maybe on our's and called it overall a "tentative RSVP" with a formal RSVP to follow. We had some maybe's. I have found the NOs just don't RSVP at all, rather frustrating, but whatever. What about.... Maybe, I'll have to see if I can find my flip flops
  13. hahaha I posted my last comment before I read the whole thread! Yes please post a link when you open up, good luck!
  14. Duprke - What a great review! Thank you for all the details, very helpful. Although I now feel like I want to buy the make up team a proper eye lash curler.... but maybe the spoon works better, easier to keep clean being dishwasher safe and all? hahaha
  15. Very excited, I just finished my first beach pillow case. I saw the idea on MarthaStewart.com and I just HAD to include them in our OOT bags. The hunt started with finding inflatable pillows. Thanks to this wonderful forum I was able to find inflatable pillows. This is the thread, it also has pictures of the inflatable pillows: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...re-find-58843/ Next I needed to find fabric. I went to fabricland a bunch of times, turns out terry coth is expensive, $12 a meter and even more for the good stuff. I returned again and again debating if I could use a cheaper material. Then one day I went in and they had stretch terry cloth on sale for $4 a meter. Has a little gold in it, which I wasn't thrilled about, but...I did the math, I could get 4 pillow cases out of a meter.... $1 a pillow case, SOLD! I bought all they had left, 7 meters. Then it was time to start sewing. I bought a starter sewing machine at walmart as I am a huge crafter and love all things DIY. You can find the sewing instructions and my inspriration here: http://www.marthastewart.com/good-th...ry-cloth-cases I was able to hem the edges of the opening and one side. Then trouble started and my machine was jamming like crazy. I gave up for now and am waiting for a friend to come over and help me. So I finished the last side by hand. I am happy to say you really can't tell part was done by hand. I love how my little pillow case came out!!!!! Last but not least, here are the pictures Front of the pillow Back fo the pillow Now a bunch more to go!

If I don't hear by end of day today I am going to call them. So frustrating.
  18. Ok maybe I am slow, I can't figure out how to quote someone? I'll look it up after... Jesmcan "Hi, non-resort guests don't need a day pass the price is just more for them. I am not sure what the rates are now but for example for the ceremony its $10 versus $5 per person if it is a non resort guest. For the cocktail its $20 instead of ten and for the dinner it was $60 instead of $30. Hope that helps " ChicagoBride2011 "Jesmcan is right, your guests do not need to purchase a day pass. You just pay more for cocktail and reception, I believe for Luxury pkg a non-guest is $60 for reception From what I hear they are allowed to come onto property 30 minutes before hand and if there is any breaks in between they have to leave. For example if your ceremony is at 2 and reception isn't until 6 they woud have to leave." Thanks ladies. I'm hoping to have the ceremony at 6pm, then send everyone to the bar for a bit. Then we'll head to Kool Beach Club for 7:30 for our reception. This leads to... we aren't paying for anyone to have cocktails or reception at The Royal. Maybe we will have to set up cocktails to ensure everyone can stay and have a drink before we head to Kool.... hmmm I need to noodle this one over... and find a way to shove it back in the budget without the FI noticing....
  19. These are some of the games I've played at past parties... Guess the baby animal.. Bear - Cub, Butterfly - Catterpillar, Fox - Kit...etc Baby Shower Game - Guess The Baby Animal Name - from Partydirectory.com Guess the baby poop... melt different types of chocolate bars in diapers and people guess what type they are. Gross but funny at the same time... What baby stuff is in this bag - Buy a lot of little baby things (q-tips, nail clips, bibs, socks, diaper, rattle...etc) Then tell guests how many things are int he bag. they make a list of all the things they think are in there. One with the most corrected guesses wins Guess how big mommy is... Everyone cuts a length of string that they think fits around the mommy's tummy. Closest size wins That's all I can remember right now. I do agree with the ladies, asking to bring the guests to bring diapers is always a big hit with the mom to be! Good luck!
  20. Hello Everyone! I have been lurking in the background while we sorted details ( I did add my date awhile back so it felt real! hehe). For awhile we were feeling family pressures to change our resort. But we have decided to stand our ground and get married at the Royal! Looking forward to trying to read through at least some of the history in here and trying to keep up with the present stuff. I do have one question. I believe guests not staying at the Royal or Grand Porto need a day pass to attend the wedding? (insert family pressure here) Anyone had any problems with this? Also do you know the cost? Thanks!
  21. StephyD - The only tall orange flowers I can think of are tiger lillies. Personally I love them, but maybe not for everyone. Posted my save the dates, mostly white with some blue and a touch of orange... now I am on the hunt for envelopes http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...n-maker-60031/
