  1. Awww man bummer! Is there another one on here you can jump on that works for your dates?
  2. NICE!! I am glad it will still work out for you Ania, London: no, San Fran: we can make it happen :-)
  3. I am planning to wear my hair in a bun style. I am not risking the frizzies if I try to flat iron it. Question for you bun wearing girls: are you fastening the veil above, or below the bun? I have a chapel length veil and I really do not like the look of veils just plopped on top of your head, if that makes sense...
  4. yet another random question: did you ladies have to bring adapters for the outlets? I know in Europe they are different, but I am unsure about the Caribbean.
  5. Here is my original request on 5/2/2010: Here is Karla's reply on 5/4/2010: Looks like Ania was not on the list when I was added on, the person right before me was in January, which means my request was probably the first one. Again, not to step on toes, but there is NO way that she can guarantee I will get it from the UK in 18 days. I think some adjustments need to be made to the list so we can keep this thing going. Sorry guys, I am an attorney, what do you expect!LOL ;-)
  6. Thanks for the reply Lisa! I think we will be ok since we have a month between us, but I am concerned I will not receive it! Ania is in London and her wedding date is February 20, with me leaving for the DR on March 10, that is pushing it and I do not think I will receive it in time. I am unsure what her travel dates are... Karla: Not sure who signed up first between Ania and I, but I do not think it will work with only 18 days between her wedding date and when I have to leave, considering it is coming from London. Please let me know who signed up first, that way the other person can maybe sign up for another starfish. Not trying to be mean, but realistically that is not enough time in between weddings to make it!
  7. Hey ladies, Something just dawned on me, we need to know where people live in order to see if it will TRULY be feasible for shipping to occur in time for the next bride. It can be a little difficult to estimate shipping times between the US and other countries. I just noticed that both the person I am receiving from, and the person I am shipping to are outside of the US, which may present an issue. Maybe when we sign up, we post our home location as well, that way if we see that the person is in another country, maybe we do not sign up for that starfish too close to their date. I know most brides will not be shipping from their wedding location, and will wait until they get home and settled. It is my experience that shipping to/from Europe from the US can take up to two weeks! I have never shipped to/from Canada, so I have no clue what to expect. Karla: can we post home locations? I am in Texas, if that helps Thoughts? please chime in :-)
  8. I am looking for you on FB now, I am Khalia :-)
  9. Girl wear a veil!! When else in your life will you get to wear one? :-) I am wearing a veil for the ceremony and taking it off for the reception and wearing a flower
  10. Ok funny, I just found it is Karla's Butterflyaniam: I am going to add you as a friend since so far you are right before me
  11. I know I am signed up but now that the thread is so long, I can't find which one!!! I know it is a blue one My wedding isn't until March, but I want to be able to go to the person when that time comes, and by then this thread will be hundreds of pages. Any suggestions to make this more efficient? On the hunt through the thread I go...
  12. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! It helps to know I am not alone in this and there are other ladies who have been through AND survived this! We too have been long distance for most of the relationship. We live in two different states, but the longest we have ever gone without being together is one month. We are hoping for three months (until June) and at that point we need to re-evaluate what our plans are. I was SO looking forward to it coming to an end finally, then we got this news about the transfer... I recently bought this book "The Commuter Marriage" by Tina Tessina, so we will see what insight I can get from that. Thanks again ladies, yet another reason to love BDW forum :-)
  13. Hey guys, Bittersweet news, my fiance's job transfer did not work out as planned, so we will be living apart as husband and wife for at least 3 months :-( I feel lonely and stressed (not a good time with wedding planning) but I guess I can look at it as our first marital "test" of the relationship and roll with it. Sometimes it helps to talk with someone else who has been through it, or is going through it, so I am reaching out...
  14. So on a SEMI positive note, I got my gown from David's. I had gone in there before, so I knew what to expect. The ONLY reasons I went in there were A) I already have a reception dress from a bridal boutique that I LOVE! and I did not want to spend over $300 for the ceremony dress. So, I found a dress for $250 that I am satisfied with. It is lightweight, flowy, and exactly the type of thing I was looking for. The service is not all that spectacular, and it is a little rushed with consultants often juggling brides. Best time to go is on a weekday, then you will likely get one on one attention. It is a busy place with a mall store atmosphere, no aesthetics or nice decor. If you go in there expecting a posh boutique, with boutique service, you WILL be disappointed. I knew what I was up against so I just took it all in stride, handled my business, and got out of there.
  15. LOL I got it too BEFORE I saw this thread and PM'd Tammy. Weirdo...
  16. Saturday night (March 12) we are having a night out on the town. We should meet up then Sonya!
  17. This is true, now it seems like it is REALLY going to happen soon. Can't wait! Do you have your tix Sonya?
  18. way random question, but were any of you former brides disappointed by the "quality" of the beach? I hear that it is not that pretty since it is the Atlantic and not the Caribbean Sea... Â I DO want to see the crystal blue water and white sand I experienced on past trips to the Caribbean. If not at the resort, can we at least find it near? Â Thanks
  19. I can't believe it!! I thought this day would never come  We bought our plane tix today so we are officially going now, SO exciting!!!
