  1. Jenny, You looked absolutely gorgeous and your photographer did a fantastic job! I used Fernando and his assistant for hair and makeup and I was not charged. He said "they know me here" and they were able to just come through wedding center and to my room with no issues.
  2. I had my reception in front of the gazebo on the beach, but they didn't set up until during the cocktail reception, so it worked out beautifully.
  3. Raveyn, I was totally trying to catch a glimpse of you on the webcam and was so bummed they turned it toward the beach on that day! lol You looked beautiful and i love the blue sash (my fave color). I'm so sorry you had to stress about the makeup :-(. Ladies, like Jess said, Fernando is the shiz. I loved sitting in my room getting ready and he was sooo funny. I've actually talked to him a couple times since and he is gonna call me when he visits Dallas in a couple mos lol. His assistant did a fantastic job with my hair...and that is no easy feat because it is down almost to my waist and is THICK and wavy. Do yourself a favor and hire them!
  4. OMG Araceli! You look soooo beautiful and I looooove your ENTIRE look- it is classic and will look gorgeous and timeless even at your 50th anniversary celebration :-)
  5. My dallas AHR is coming up next weekend 1/8 -yay! I have been asking Funever to send me the dvd video of the ceremony so I can play it at the AHR and they keep telling me it is sent and to wait until Jan 1 O_o because it was sent on Nov 30th. Arrgh lol
  6. Hahahaha I'm dying over here, that is hilarious. Boom! bahahaha The resort was actually not very big, not too small. I was able to walk from my room (right by the gazebo on far side of resort) to the lobby (central location) in 5 min and then lobby to wedding center in another 5 (opposite my room). The wedding center is directly across the street from the main entrance to the Gran Porto
  7. Quote:Originally Posted by Suzy831 I have a question for you ladies. I just got an e-mail from my wedding coordinator saying my second payment for the wedding was due last Friday and is past due and is supposed to be paid 4 months before the wedding "like the wedding contract states"... This is the first I've heard of it.. so I quickly searched all of the paperwork I have on the wedding stuff and I couldn't find anything about a second payment 4 months before... just 45 days and 30 days... ?? I'm fine with paying whatever I need, but this is the first I've heard and it and I don't even know how much I have to pay?? Do any of you know about this? So confused!!
  8. Marisa, I can understand your feelings. My father only mentioned changing venues to my once, but it was enough to make me anxious. Ultimately, what is most important is having your loved ones with you. I'm sure Aruba is going to be insanely beautiful (I'm guessing that is where you changed it from your sig lol). Have the best wedding and we will still be here to chat :-)
  9. GC2008, I had second guessing as well- we even went so far as to book another resort because of it. Ultimately, we stuck with our decision of The Royal and I am soooo glad we did! I can't tell you enough how amazing the resort is...we do tropical vacations every year and this has been THE BEST. It really has the "full package" - the food is excellent, the resort top notch, and the fact that it is walking distance to 5th avenue is a HUGE bonus (imagine Bourbon street in New Orleans). The way they take care of you and your wedding is the icing on the cake. I honestly believe my wedding is the best wedding I have ever gone to, and I'm not just saying that because it was mine lol. There is really something magical about that place and also looking around and seeing your two families together smiling and having fun in this beautiful place on earth. You won't regret booking it. Stop looking at other places :-) Oh and new brides to be..... put your wedding date in your signature at the bottom :-) (and Royal Cancun or Royal PDC)
  10. I think the camcorder is a good idea. I didn't hire videographer (although I got the ceremony as part of my package..still waiting on that). However, my brother took video clips during the reception and i am soooo glad he did! I didn't even know he was doing it! It made us relive the whole thing all over again and the songs could be heard perfectly- i loved it.
  11. Oh, did I tell you ladies what happened at the DPS? sheesh. I gave her the marriage licence and I guess she pulled Wayne's middle name from it and changed my name to Lisa Gordon McIntyre ...wtf?! lol I told her um, no that's HIS middle name. So then she puts my maiden name down as middle name....i told her no, i don't HAVE a middle name. She then tells me I HAVE TO have a middle name (uh what?) and makes me have my maiden name on there. Grrrr Oh well...I'm not gonna sweat it, but who ever heard of someone dictating how you want your name.. lol P.S. we ran out of time and didn't get to go to Chef's Plate at teh Royal, but my brother did and he said it was AMAZING and 7 courses!
  12. Hi 2011 brides! I used this timeline for destination weddings (since most are geared to home area weddings): 12 Months or more Create a wedding binder. Keep all ideas, swatches, photos, correspondence, etc. and keep it in an easily accessible place. Set a budget and stick to it. Consider purchasing wedding insurance to protect your special day. Compile a reasonable guest list. Don’t over invite assuming guests won’t come because of travel. Invite anyone you want to have present (budget permitting) and allow the guest to decide if they can/want to travel. If you are getting married outside of the country, consider hiring a wedding consultant who specializes in destination weddings. 11 Months prior Set up a profile of the type of destination wedding your want Research, research, research locations before you book. Note distance from airport to hotel, weather, seasons and time of year (consider hurricanes) amenities, etc. Settle on a wedding date. Send save the date cards. (optional). Verify marriage residency requirements. Research travel and accommodation options for guests Consider visiting the destination to be sure this is THE spot for you. 10 months prior Make destination wedding planning trip, if necessary Set up meetings with any stateside wedding professional who may be traveling to your wedding locale. 9 Months prior Start putting together any legal documents required to marry at the destination wedding location. Make travel arrangements to the destination wedding site, if possible. Book the lodging accommodations for wedding attendants Complete itinerary for tours or any other extra curricular activities for guests, if applicable Make your own travel arrangements for the wedding 8 Months prior Register for gifts Determine style, formality and colors of wedding Consider style of stationery, invitations 7 Months prior Select your wedding gown Choose and order bridesmaids wedding dresses Order groom and groomsmen attire Shop for wedding rings 6 Months prior Make final selections on wedding cake baker, florists and décor, and transportation necessary. Work on ceremony details and buy any necessary items Finalize menu and wedding cake order 5 Months prior Purchase fiancé’s gift (optional) Order favors (optional) Buy gifts for wedding attendants and parents 4 Months prior Finish addressing wedding invitations and mail out 3 Months prior Update your budget Review contracts again and familiarize yourself with arrival times, etc. 2 Months prior Start creating seating charts. Yes, it is hard but it must be done. Call guests who have not yet responded 1 Month prior Release any unnecessary rooms Finalize all wedding day itineraries Confirm travel arrangements with the hotel/resort 3 Weeks prior Send out emails to wedding providers who have been contracted to finalize the details. 3 Days prior Arrive at wedding destination Meet with banquet manager Go over details Bridal beauty - manicure, pedicure – no change in facial products at this time. Any change in cleansers or makeup should be done at least one month prior to the wedding. The day of Relax, say “I DO†and live happily ever after! I hope this helps!

  14. I normally wear a 12, but because it is a corset, this size 16 worked. It just came out a few months ago and I only wore it for my TTD session. I bought it for 500.00 and am selling it half price for 250.00 + shipping! 15. Thanks, Randi, that does help! My AHR is on 1/8 and I too am expecting about 150 people. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it because I have been kinda dreading it with all the whiners lol.
  16. Thanks, I'm trying lol. Did anyone seat 10 people at a table, and was it crowded? I'm trying to decide on 8 vs 10 to save money on centerpieces for AHR lol
  17. I really wish I just had the wedding and didn't have to do an AHR lol. I have so many people adding additional people to their reply cards- who does that? Like if I invited 1, they add 3....or if it addressed to Mr. and Mrs. X, they added their children (my website says adults only)....sigh..... One couple hasn't spoken to me since I politely mentioned that it was adults only. Now my co-workers (guys) are bitching about me not letting them bring dates. Mind you, half of my team is single and will all be going, so it's not like they won't know anyone. We just can't afford all these extras people. I tried telling them this and that it was important to me to have them there and i just couldn't afford it. They upset me so bad and started saying "so we're being punished for being single?" Sigh...can't win. :-(
  18. Haha that's awesome. You looked amazing and I agree with jes, loved the starfish clip. I'm so happy everything turned out well for you. Congrats to the no longer future, but MRS. Yak! woot! Thanks, Di! Your bouquet was my inspiration btw! I had another one I was supposed to use, but fell in love with the hot pink lol.
  19. OMG, Yay!!! How exciting! Make sure you relax and take it all in. Pull hubby to the side and just watch all of the wonderful things that are your wedding. (oh, i'm so jealous- i want to get married again! lol) Big group hug to you!
  20. I didn't notice them at all :-). Then again, no one had their reception near the gazebo either, but none of the ceremonies bothered me or were heard.
