We also have about 46 people at the ceremony and my FI will be starting her walk about 50 feet away. I'm not sure if she or everyone else would be able to hear it. I know if I play it in my yard I can hear it at my next doors neighbors house clear as day. The issue is I love the songs we chose, and I want to be sure everyone can hear them.
  2. Has anyone here used a Bose Sound dock on the beach for their ceremony? I have heard some people talk about it but I'm wondering if that was loud enough of if I should get a PA system. I have the Sound Dock and was planning on using it.
  3. Hello - Just to add my 2 cents. I used Full House Floral. They were the least expensive I could find for the same things I wantes. I don't know how it will turn out but they came highly recommended from the place I am having my reception. Here is the info Full House Floral & Event Design Studio 83 Mackey Street Nassau, Bahamas Tel: (242) 394-3679 Tel: (954) 990-0915 Fax: (242) 356-6741 [email protected] Full House Floral & Event Design- powered by SmugMug I loved Michael and feel good about my choise. I am using the Swiss Pastry shop for my cake. His name is Manfred and have heard good things about him as well. MM

  5. This is pretty scary... Hopefully it isn't the same with the flights as it is the hotels!! We are going the week of April vacation and booked through Orbitz... this is a busy week for flights and I'm sure the flights will be over booked... if we get the boot it pretty much means the wedding is in jeopardy..... Is it the same thing with flights or mostly hotel rooms??
  6. Well, I spoke with all the above and they all seemed great!! Due to cost, I decided to go with the wedding coordinator that the Sheraton of Nassau had in house. So far I'm not overly impressed!!! Everything may work out when all is said and done but the issue is COMMUNICATION!!! Every time I email with a question it takes minimum 5 days to get an answer, usually it's over a week....and that’s when he is actually IN the office. I get an "out of office reply" just about every time I email... Is this normal? Does everyone else have this same issue with responses? Like I said, it may turn out perfect, but I need instant gratification when I email Let me know if this is the norm.
  7. Welcome back! We are getting married in the Bahamas as well and we are just "winging it" and going down the week of our wedding. Hopefully everything works out. I was hoping you could tell me who you picked for your florist and decor. We are still trying to work that out? If you don't mind, I could also use your leads for the hair and make up as my fiance is still trying to figure out what she is going to do about that. It's nice to know we can pick things up downtown for the bags too. We want to do favors but only if we can get some sort of favor that reminds people of the Bahamas. Otherwise they get nothing If your looking for a DJ, we are using Jose Ageeb, if you want his info let me know. He was reccomended to us so I gave him a call and I booked him that night. He really seems to have his act together. I also found this review on-line before I called him: DJ: Jose Ageeb (Love him! Jose was key. Great personality, reliable, fun, and extremely helpful. He also helped me find a saxaphonist for the cocktail hour and set it all up for me. We became good friends which I'm sure a lot of people can't say about their DJ's. Rating: A+) Give him a call. Very nice guy. A bit more pricey than others but he pretty much said he would run the whole reception and I have nothing to worry about. P.S. Everyone always say "ladies" - there are some men on here doing the planning
  8. Can anyone recommend a wedding cake vendor in the Nassau area? Thanks
  9. Hello - We plan on getting married at the Sheraton in Nassau. I haven't heard to many good things about there WC though so it is still up in the air. Hopefully everything goes smoothly. I just wanted to chime in because I heard from more than one person that the Wyndam may be closing. I even think one of my guests said that somewhere on their website they say they will be closing? Just wanted to give you a heads up in case it was true.
  10. Is anyone getting married or been married on Sunrise beach in the Bahamas. I have spoken to (1) WC and they both say that is where they would have the ceremony. They sent pictures and the beach didn't overly impress me. Has anyone been there or had there ceremony there?
  11. Hello - We are staying at the Sheraton in Nassau and have yet to choose a wedding Coordinator. It would make sense to get married at the Sheraton and use their coordinators but before doing that I was wondering if anyone has used them and if so were they up to the task? Thanks... once I decide on a coordinator I can get the ball rolling. I have inguired with Anna Maria and she has yet to get back to me in 2 weeks, this is after I have called twice and emailed one. Paulette Davis has been wonderful and has my vote so far but I would like to get some other pricing before deciding. The Sheraton would be the place location as well cause we can get married on the beach and then bus everyone to Lucianos.
  12. Hello - We would like to trasport are guests from the Sheraton in Nassau to Lucianos. We would probably need some sort of a small bus 25-50 people. I have gotten a few quotes and they are all over the place. Can anyone reccomend a transportation company in Nassau? Thanks!
  13. Thanks for the responses.. I guess to clarify, my parents are paying for the whole J&J, so I guess technically they are the hosts. This is more for my parents who would like to invite all their friends and mostly people I don't know Of course we will invite all of our friends as well, along with all family members. Where as the DW we are only inviting aunts, uncles and 1st cousins.....basically close family. future_mrs2010 - Did the people at the J&J realize it was the only chance to celebrate your wedding? If so how did you word the invites?
  14. Hello - My FI and I were planning on having a J&J before we left for our DW instead of an AHR. I just don't feel like we would want to do an AHR after getting home. I read on here about pre-wedding reception. Isn't that kind of the same thing as a J&J. For those who have done that how was the turn out? The thought is that we let it be known on the invitations that we are going away for the wedding and we would like to celebrate before leaving with all our family and friends. My FI is now worried that people don't bring gifts to J&J's. For those who have had a J&J before the wedding how did it turn out? Was it understood that this was IT and you were using it as your only celebration of the wedding to be? In general what are peoples opinion of having a J&J before the DW?
  15. I've been online looking for Cloisters in the Bahamas because someone I know is getting married there. Are Cloisters and One and Only club the same place? We were going to do a beach wedding but the One and Only club looks so nice, we may change our minds

We have to get the minimum # of rooms... and I need to politely "encourage" our guests to book through our contact. This is the direction I am going in. The rooms are about $30.00 less a nght through the group rate and we get incentives for booking 10 or more rooms. Some of the incentives are they WE get an upgrade in room and all our guests get $100.00 credit at the hotel for food and drinks. That being said, I still have to ask what would happen if we don't hit the 10 rooms?? How is it working out for you? We have yet to book the rooms or sign any contract. Just wondering how your making out with getting people to book through the group rate.
  17. I'm interested in this topic because my finace wants adult only but I don't really care. I've been to both in the past and the kids dont really bother me. Problem is I have a niece and nephew I would LOVE to have at my wedding and they are 7 and 5. I am being told that Sandals may not permit them to come onto the property even if it is just for the wedding. This would be in the Bahamas, so I'm not sure what we are doing? I never minded a resort with kids though. We may go April vacation so adults only may be a good idea since thats when everyone goes on vacation.
  18. I haven't gotten into this yet.... but my TA has told me that if there is a price drop at ANY time before final payment is made that she will price adjust and let me or my guests know that she has done so. I don't know if that's how it will work but she assured me if I book now she will always get me the lowest price , through price adjustments, right up until I make the final payment on the booking.

There seems to be 30-50 people that may come so we thought closer was better...
  20. Thanks everyone for making us feel welcomed... We decided on the place, Bahamas! We just have to figure out the date now. We want to do April (school vacation) but figure it is probably crazy since everyone goes on vacation that week. So we may push it out till the summer.

As long as we wont be bored I think we would both be very happy with our choice. We are going for 12 days and it seems to me in Jamaica I would start to get sick of the resort life, if that's possible. If I'm at the Bahamas I understand it is easier to go outside the walls and explore the island and get around the island. This is my 1st post so THANKS for all the help. I think this site is going to be a good find in helping to get the wedding together.

  25. Hello all - I am new here and posted this in another forum but was sent here. I have to admit I have used forums before but I am very confused with this one. I'm not sure where to post what. We are doing a destination wedding and we are thinking Bahamas ( Sandals ) my fiancee has been told that it is boring at the Bahamas and there is nothing to do but go to the beach. Any thoughts on this? The other option was Jamaica, which my fiancee thinks would be more fun. Are the Bahama's boring?
