  1. None of the links that were posted work...they all direct me back to the main forum. Does anyone know why that happens?? I'm so worried about this custom issue because I have $400 worth of beach towels, a $300 aisle runner, and a ton of other stuff I'm bringing down such as shot glasses, flip flops, tote bags, etc... I have receipts but since I'm splitting everything up between my FI, my mom and my luggage I don't know if should just make up fake receipts? Obviously wouldn't make sense for each of us to carry receipts for the full value if we're splitting up the stuff... anyone know?
  2. I'm really glad to hear that he did such a good job on your wedding day. I just went to Cancun and had my hair & make up trial with Fernando and his hair guy. I have to second your high recommendation. I thought he was awesome in every way. I was really impressed and I can't wait to see what he's going to do for the wedding when it's the real thing. I felt like a different woman when they were done with my hair & makeup. Another thing I really loved was his personality. He was so laid back, funny and just fun to be around. Those are exactly the kind of people I want to surround myself while I'm getting ready on my weding day:)
  3. Can anyone suggest a Limo company in Cancun? I've been searching the forums and can only find info on companies that provide airport transportation or bus transportation for guests but I'm having a hard time finding a limo to take me to the church. I'd really appreciate any suggestions - I'm starting to get nervous.
  4. Saza - If I were you I would cross all my t's and dot all my i's because when I first started planning I got one direction from the wedding planner that was completely different from what my priest said which was different from what the parish in cancn said. You should reach out to the parish directly. I dealt with Lupita Ramos. I'm getting married this April and here's what I had to do: I had to get the letter from my home priest giving us permission to marry in Mexico. I also live with my FI but I never mentioned it and he never asked. My FI had to get a seperate letter from his priest because my priest would not include him in my letter since he is not part of that parish. I had to email the CANCUN PARISH (Lupita Ramos) a scanned copy of the priest's letter giving permission (Carta de traslado) along with copies of EACH of our baptism , communion and confirmation certificates. I originally only sent the letter from the priest but she insisted that I also email copies of the baptism, communion and confirmation. She also said that I must bring the original letter from the priest with the official church seal when I travel to Cancun for the wedding. They must have the original a few days before. They told me that they don't need proof that you attended pre-cana. Your home preist may require that you take pre-cana before he gives you the letter but as long as you have the letter, the mexican church is ok. What I would be careful of if I was you is the sacrament certificates because I originally was told I din't need to send them and then they requested it. I'll update everyone with exactly what they end up asking for when I get married in April.
  5. I picked Cancun, Mexico because it was 1) Affordable for guests, 2) has Beautiful beaches, 3) variety of activities & good nightlife to excite guests and keep them entertained throughout the week (we have a lot of young ppl traveling and didn't want them to be bored the days before the wedding) I chos the venue because it was gorgeous, unique and has an amazing view of the ocean. I always wanted an outdoor wedding with the turquoise ocean as the backdrop. I also chose the venue based on the responsiveness, professionalism and flexibility of the WC.

At least the good news is that they say they were able to lengthen it. I really hope it works out for you. They told me the same thing about my dress - that they were going to steam it/press it to lengthen it. I'm going for my 2nd fitting today so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It sucks that we have to go thru this Keep us updated on how it goes at your fitting:)
  7. Any updates on this? Just wondering if you were able to get a new dress or fix the problem??
  8. Oh honey I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you. I had a similar issue happen to me. The store sample fit me absolutely perfectly except that it was a little long. So the store asked me to buy my shoes before ordering the dress so they could measure and order the proper length. I went in with my shoes and the manager measured me herself. My dress came in about 2 weeks ago and it's a little too short. I didn't freak out in the store because the seamstress told me she could fix it by loosening up the hips and some other alterations so I trusted her and went home. She told me the next fitting would be Feb. 25 which is two months before my wedding (MY wedding is Apri 23 just like yours But the more I looked at the pics the more unhappy I felt. So I called a few times and asked for the manager but was given the run around. I said that if I didn't get a call back from her I was just going to show up in person. I got a call back in 20 minutes. I was very firm but polite. I told her that they had to move the next alteration date up sooner because Feb. 25 was too close to the date and there would be no time to rectify the situation if I still wasn't happy after the second alteration. I also made it clear that the dress being too short was THEIR RESPONSIBILITY because they were the ones who measured me. Long story short, the manager moved my next alteration to this coming Monday (Feb. 1st). She also assured me that they would figure out a way to fix this if I still wasn't happy. Even if it means ordering a brand new dress and covering all rushing and alteration fees. I think you need to stay positive, persistent and firm (but not rude). Speak to the store owner. Take a day off from work and show up at the store. Call them incessantly....stalk them until they get tired of you. Do whatever you have to do because this is way too important. Maybe there's someone at Maggie Ottero you can call to complain about this retailer... there has to be something that can be done. They can always order you a new rush dress. It can be done i they really feel pressed against a wall. Good luck and keep us updated....trust me I feel your pain. Your dress is just gorgeous and you deserve to be 100% happy with it. Don't give up! There has to be someone that will listen to you and correct the issue.
  9. You absolutely can!! I'm having a wedding for 50 ppl and my ceremony/reception budget is about $7000 but that includes a TON of extras like elaborate lighting and decoration (i.e. fabric drapery, specialty chair covers & sashes, high end centerpieces, etc..). If I take out all those extra things that I had them order especially for me, the budget goes down by about a $1000. I was just ultra pickey about certain things. I'm not even staying at an all inclusive, i had everything done a la carte because I don't particularly like pre-packaged weddings...again, I'm just picky. So, I think you just need to do your research and NEGOTIATE (never pay for something without trying to bring the cost down or get extras thrown in).
  10. I'm not sure why you can't see the pic - are you getting an error message? I also posted pictures in this thread a few months ago... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-w-pics-51351/ Kelie11 - The aisle runner was pretty pricey but this vendor was actually the cheapest one I've found in all my research. I paid about $280 for the runner but they have cheaper ones. I ordered a higher quality non-slip ailse runner because the chapel I'm getting married in has marble floors (which tend to be slippery) so I wanted to be safe. The quality is really, really good...I was pretty impressed when I received it in the mail - It's kind of cushioned. If that's not that important to you, they have cheaper options. Having a monogramed ailse runner was something I really wanted. I loved that idea from the beginning and i think it was the very first wedding item I bought:) I had the monogram created just so I could put it on the aisle runner....all the other ideas came after. The aisle runner was my first inspiration so I was willing to pay a little extra
  11. I got the monogram done at For The Modern Bride • Wedding Card Boxes, Stationery, & Logo Design They charge $25 for one, $35 for 2 and $55 for 3 logos. However, if you order your invitations or menu cards from them they give you one logo for FREE. You just tell them what type of design you want because everything they do is custom. Once they design the logo, they send you the final file in jpg or eps format and you can just send the logo to whatever vendors are doing your aisle runner, towels, etc... I ordered my aisle runner from Custom Aisle Runners | Wedding Aisle Runners | Aisle Runners and all I had to do was send her the jpeg of the monogram. The towels I ordered from Beach Towels wholesale manufacturer of custom embroidered monogrammed bath towel for corporate events and it was the same process - I just sent them the jpeg and they did the rest.

Lalanyc- Is there a specific reason why you chose not to book here after you visited? We won't have a chance to visit first because we had other vacations and friends' weddings coming up. I appreciate everyone's insight!! I just came back from a site visit and I can't tell you how happy I am to have chosen this venue. It really surpassed all my expectations. When I got there, they were having an event that night so I was able to see the venue set up with the lights and decorations and it was AWESOME. I'm still undecided between the two DJ options so Patricia had both of them come to the resort and DJ for me in person. They set up a food tasting that was awesome...from the taste of the food to the presentation. They even set up an entire table for me so that I could see what it would look like the day of the reception with centerpiece and all. I have to tell you that I have been a very demanding bride I'm a perfectionist so I have been very specific about what chair covers I want, which sashes, how I want the sash tied, etc.... and they delivered on every single aspect. I was blown away by my site visit and I'm not easy to please I have pics if you want to see... Patricia is very, very professional and so is everyone else at that resort. I'm really happy.
  13. Quote: Besides invitations...how did you guys use your monograms throughout the wedding? I had two monograms created and I'm sprinkling both throughout different areas of my wedding. One monogram has our full names and I'm putting that one on my aisle runner. The second monogram is a little simpler with only our initials so I'm putting that one on beach towels for out of town bags, wedding program, matchbooks, and some shot glasses I created for my Tequilla bar Here are some pics... In this picture the towels are folded so the monogram looks big but it's actually really small compared to the size of the towels. The monogram is embroidered on the bottom of the towel.

This whole process is so utterly confusing, and seems to change every time i'm finally able to speak to someone! Our WC confirmed our "rooftop terrace" reception location months ago, and i received an email in very early January - asking us to pick a location for our private reception. I emailed back frantically since i was out of the country on vacation with EXTREMELY limited access to email - i still have not heard back from anyone. Our wedding date is April 27th - and it seems like we have NOTHING planned as of yet. I sent it directly to the Parish in Mexico (Lupita Ramos) and cc'd the wedding coordinator. I have been dealing with the wedding coordinators in Mexico which has not been an easy process but I can only imagine that going through a third party (i.e. Michigan coordinator) must be even worse. Why don''t you go directly through the WC in the resort in mexico?
  15. I would definetly consider a different resort altogether. That's what I'm doing, we're getting married in Cancun and will be there the week leading up to the wedding. 2 days after the wedding we are relocating to a different resort in Playa del carmen which is a little distance from the Cancun Hotel zone where everyone else is staying. That way we'll get away from people and have our alone time.

The time is reserved when we get something (supposedly not 'the letter' of final approval) to the priest in Cancun from our priest. I am a little hesitant on sending out the save the dates /telling guests to start booking since I really want a 4pm wedding. We were thinking of chaning the date by a day or two (maybe) if our date/time mysteriously disappears. Does anyone have suzanna as a wedding coordinator? Does anyone know where the cocktail hours are held? Have pics? I sent it my deposit and letter from my priest back in Sept/Oct and that only confimed the date. My wedding is in April 2010 (3 months away) and they still have not 100% confirmed the time. I want the wedding at 3pm and they said they blocked that time for me but they can't give me 100% confirmation until the day gets closer and the priest confirms his availability. That's what they said.... I don't know how much closer to date it has to be since my wedding is now only THREE months away...

I just want to know if there is anything else I missed. I'm really second guessing my decision to marry here and wondering if I should just try to see if another chapel is available for my wedding, which is now exactly THREE months away!! I just wonder if once my guests get there they're going to think I"m crazy for having my ceremony there. None of us are actually guests at the gran caribe so everyone is going to be shuttled there just for the ceremony. I don't like the guest entrance...it's so busy and loud.

Do you still have to pay that amount even though it was only $100 when you signed the contract? I'm getting more and more annoyed with this place by the minute. I'm bringing an outside photographer and they told me the fee was $100. I have a ton of information on Le Meridien- what type of info do you need? My wedding coordinator is Patricia Luyando and she is simply amazing!
  20. I know this is a common issue for brides on this forum so I just want to get some encouragement from those who are going or have gone through the same thing. My wedding is now three months away and I only have 12 people who have booked out of 50 who said they're going. The RSVP cutoff date is March 21st and I just sent out the invitations 2 days ago but the save the date with all the information went out in October. We have 50 people who have told us they are definetly going so I've made all my plans around that number. I just need to hear from other brides who have been through this and have had it all work out in the end. I need someone to make me feel encouraged because I'm really starting to freak out a little.

Thanks for the words of encouragement:) Directly behind the cross there is a tennis court but to the right of the tennis court (as you face the chapel) there are some rooms that have a direct path to the chapel. The rooms are on the same level and lead directly to the chapel but no one inside the chapel would see you coming out of the room.
  22. thanks ladies! Feel so much better now. I also think it will be something cool that my guests have never experienced before. Most of my family/friends are coming from NYC and Texas so they've definetly never experienced that before, especially with the whole family together:) My wedding is in April so i don't think it will necessarily be cold...it was more the wind blowing sand in the food that I was concerned with. I just went to Cancun two weeks ago for my site visit and there was an awesome breeze at night but it was not cold. It was just a nice warm breeze.
  23. I really want to have my rehearsaldinner on the beach at sunset and decorate with tiki torches. I think it will be a fun experience for everyone. It just occurred to me that it gets really breezy in cancun at night and that may be a problem with the food. Has anyone had dinner at night on the beach or attended someone else's?? Should I be concerned with the wind blowing sand in people's food??
  24. I'm getting married in April and so far I know of about 55 people who said they're definetly going but only about 12 have booked so far. That being said, I will note that FI & I have not even booked our own trip yet:) Neither have our parents who are of course going to the wedding without a doubt. We're just big procrastinators in our family so I'm not worried at all. I sent the save the date out in October and I have NOT sent out the invitation yet. I think people will wait until the last minute to book. I also think that when people see the invitations it will seem more real and will definetely push them to book. This is what happend to my cousin when they had a DW...everyone waited until a few weeks prior to book and they ended up having 65 people show up to the wedding. I think that's why I'm not stressing it.
  25. So I know etiquette says you should invite your boss/select co-workers to your traditional wedding but I'm a little unsure of the proper etiquette for a DW. I know for a fact that my boss wouldn't go because we can't both be out of the office at the same time...someone needs to cover. Aside from that she has two little kids, hates flying, etc.. I KNOW she's not going but the thing is her and I have been friends for a long time so the relationship goes beyond the typical boss relationship. I'm wondering if I should give her an invitation out of courtesy and etiquette even though I know she can't go... or would that make her feel uncomfortable because she'll have to decline the invitation I'm also in the same predicament with some coworkers. They've been helping me pick stuff out for my wedding and always lend an ear when I need opinions, suggestions, etc... They also can't go because we can't all be out of the office at once. I feel weird not giving them an invite after all the help they've been but also feel like what's the point of wasting precious invitations on people who I know are not going for a fact (i'm being kind of cheap with my invitations as you can see:) What has everyone else done?
