  1. Hi everyone! I had my wedding and reception at Kool on May 28th. It was awesome. I'm going to write a full review of everything in the appropriate place but wanted to put minds at ease. We had a blast! The food was great...the little I ate. We had half grouper with an orange bell pepper sauce ( very mild and yummy!) and half fan of beef with an orporto sauce. Again, it was all good. Green beans were served with the grouper and rosemary new potatoes with the beef. Greek salad to start was also great. We had a veggie option of half spinach lasagna and half eggplant parm. It was fine. The tomato sauce was really good. Its hard to give an honest assessment because I was partial to the beautiful presentation of the meat entree. That being said, I heard no complaints and plates were clean. For cocktail hour we did chips and salsa and caprese skewers. Both passed. The waiters were just awesome. I met Flor at a vendor meeting my WONDERFUL wedding planners (Gelena and Luisa with Weddings Riviera Maya) set up. Flor was direct, professional, and really set my mind at ease. One thing I forgot to mention - if you are having the full bar/sparkling white wine option, specify that you don't want Moscato/anything sweet. I didn't and I was stuck with a drink that I hate. This wasn't Kool's fault since I didn't ask what they served. Just a heads up if you don't like the sweet stuff. I'm working on my full review of the entire weekend but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!
  2. Maybe this one? http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/37669/wedding-favor-ideas
  3. I'm not 100%, but I'm leaning towards brownies from Ah Cacao Chocolate Cafe at each seat.
  4. Great ideas! These are the ones I finally decided on. Without the ribbon around the vase . Maybe alternate tables with these?
  5. The hardest thing about this forum is trying not to change my mind when I see all of the beautiful pictures on here! This is the cake inspiration picture I've sent. Pale pink roses instead of red on a gold stand. Its simple but one of the few FI and I could agree on!
  6. I'm drooling! Those dresses are awesome. The multiple colors look very sharp. I wish I had gone with long as well. I snapped my dresses up on JCrew's 30% off final sale a month after we got engaged. (Dec.2009!) I totally rushed into it since I wanted buy the BM's dresses. I told myself they could wear them again. Riiiiight. These are the dresses I went with. Okay, but not what I would pick today.
  7. This is what I'm **hoping** my chuppah will look like. White fabric and pale pink roses instead of cream and orange.
  8. Hi ladies! These are the inspiration pictures I've sent to my wedding planner. The peonies (supposed to be pale pink) would be my bouquet and the baby's breath for the bridesmaids. If the pale pink peonies don't work out they will be substituted with pale pink opened roses. The aisle is going to have large baskets of baby's breath as well. I've just fallen in love with the look of large groups of baby's breath. Who knew?!
  9. My FI and I are using Vincent Ribon at Zasil. A friend who was married in Playa recommended him. I've included both of his links. Specifically his wedding work: http://www.playa-weddings.com His other work: http://www.zasilstudio.com Sorry, I don't think I'm linking them correctly.
  10. I can't wait to see your pictures! Is it crazy that I check this thread at least 3 times a week? Lol!
  11. I was in the same boat re/transportation, etc. Plus, we are already paying for the bar at Kool. I didn't really see any reason to bring another venue (or more $$$!) into the cocktail hour. That terrace view is awesome. I'm not a big fan of sand in my shoes either How many people are you having? Our guest list if out of control (ugh) so the beach was our only option. I've had to come to terms with the fact that I'm probably going to be wearing flats and not the pretty shoes I've been drooling over for the past year and a half. *sigh*
  12. Hi Majimart - this response is a little late, but I just stumbled across it. I'm using Gelena and the girls at Weddings Riviera Maya and they are great! My wedding is May 28th and she has been on top of what I ask for. Obviously, I haven't had the wedding yet but I feel confident that its going to be just what I envisioned.
  13. @ PaperBagPrincess - How funny! We are sooooo close! Are you having your ceremony at Kool or elsewhere? We were going to have it on the pier that runs between Gran Porto and The Royal but I was getting tired of waiting on the city to okay it. We just decided to do it on the beach at Kool. I'm a little nervous since all of those beds and palapas are out there, but hopefully it won't be too noticeable. @ AshleyNicole - I'm so glad you liked the food! That makes me feel better.
  14. Yay! So glad you had a good time! I can't wait to read what you thought about everything!
  15. v1v2v3 - I know! My FI and I got engaged December 27th of 09 and for the longest it seemed like the wedding would never actually get here. Now that I'm getting cake and florist quotes in its all starting to feel real. This is when we finally get to start on the fun stuff! AshleyNicole - Can't wait to hear your thoughts on everything.
  16. AshelyNicole -I just posted pics of Kool from my scouting trip last year and was asking about the food. I didn't see this thread when I posted under the other one. I think we are probably doing the 1/2 beef, 1/2 fish option. We can't go back down until March to taste the menu so I'm very curious about your thoughts. v1v2v3 - What day are you getting married? I'm May 28th. So close. When we had lunch there the tacos, rice, etc. were all tasty. The sushi was just O.K
  17. Hi everyone. I've been totally out of the best destination wedding loop for quite a while. There was a ton of wedding drama from the fiance's mother and step-father regarding our decision to have our wedding in Mexico, people to invite, not going, etc. Ugh. I've pretty much stayed away since I've kind of thought in the back of my mind we would end up eloping. Well, May 28th is rapidly approaching, so I'm assuming its safe to say we are having our KOOL wedding I apologize for the delay of this post, but hopefully these pictures will give those of you interested in the layout of Kool a better idea. Back Bar. From what I understand, not used unless VERY large party. Area where the band will play Another view View of the bar which is used during weddings (as I understand it) Looking from the bar to the beach. Awesome loungers Area on the other side of the pool (away from the food area) Eating area. Love the canopies. You really have to use your imagination with all of the people standing around. It was a cool. No pun intended. I think a few custom throw pillow will really spruce up the lounge beds. For those of you who have already had your reception, what did you have on your menu and what were your thoughts on the food? We had a great lunch there, but I'm wondering about their dinner selection. We had originally decided with the Mexican buffet, but because some people don't like Mexican food we have decided on a sit down beef/fish option. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!
  18. What cool jobs everyone has! I'm a lawyer. Not very exciting but I do meet some interesting people:)
  19. Melissa, your wedding was AMAZING! These picture have really got me thinking seriously about KOOL. Such a great venue!!
  20. Thanks everyone! And you are all correct...my head is spinning! In a good way:)
