  1. maybe a chandelier center piece? she's just one of those people, she doesn't care for the beach and to her non of that is "beautiful". I mean really, a romantic sunset ceremony overlooking the Caribbean.. doesn't compare to 4 walls and a carpet
  2. I do the same thing. I'll read 10 great reviews and then one bad one and I start calling my FI in a panic You just have to realize that there is always someone that has a bad experience and you can't let that make you doubt your decision. Very few hotels only have great reviews and people do have different standards so there will always be an unhappy customer.
  3. Not really sure if it's even worth venting. I know what you girls will (correctly) say. It's our day, we should do what we want, what makes us happy, etc. etc. But regardless... We are doing a beach ceremony reception. My FMIL is "ashamed" to tell people that they will be eating on sand. She thinks it's completely inappropriate for the formality of the event and is basically telling my FI daily how unhappy she is and how this is awful and "people will have sand in their food" (interesting how not a single girl on this forum has had this issue), and "HOW can people be in sand? what about girl's shoes?" blah blah... (she's one of those that likes fancy halls with gold chandeliers) anyhow, I really feel bad for my FI bc he is close with his family and wants them to be excited and I think they are ruining this whole thing for him. And I'm not trying to make this casual either...we are getting a lit dance floor, lights, decorations, etc etc so it's not like I'm going there to have a back yard bbq Honestly, are we just copying and pasting each other stories? I swear I've read this one before... Thanks to all in advance
  4. First of all, I have never enjoyed a post as much as I enjoyed yours You should be a writer...a writer on behalf of all women who are up until 3am daily working on their DIY something or other when they have to be at work at 8am, trying to plan the perfect day with 8 million other opinions they don't remember asking for. Bitter? Me? Noooooooo You want something to add to your post? How about $20 per flower...yes that's correct, for 1 flower... 1 flower bouquet anybody Any my package also includes "a special gift from the hotel"...gee thanks. When you upgrade, you have pool towels IN your room instead of down by the pool where you may actually use them. And how about waiting for somebody to reply to an email. Anybody? Anybody? Yes I understand being busy but once in a while, it really would be nice to get a reply so that we can move on to freak out over the next thing. Ah yes...destination wedding...cheaper, less stressful.... right
  5. Does anybody know what they used for the knot on the hot pink sashes above? Is there some sort of band around it? Thank you!!
  6. Hi T&K, We stayed in the Oaxaca building and we were right in front of the pool. We didn't find it noisy at all but again, we weren't in the room much. It's also the building closer to the Palace restaurants/buffet and the lobby. We have the same concern with elderly not having to walk too much but it depends where they are walking to I'm not sure how accommodating they are in terms of room request but I don't think noise should be a problem, especially if they are not Premium Club right in front of the pool. Can't wait to hear about your actual wedding!! I have a really odd question if you could find out for me...How big are the tables and do the tablecloths go all the way down to the floor? I ask because we are thinking of doing those lights under the tables and that obviously won't work if the tablecloths aren't long enough. Thanks so much and let me know if you have any more questions about our visit. Otherwise have a great time!!!!
  7. Stacey - I'm not sure if there is a "best" place. I think it depends on what you prefer.
  8. We saw a ceremony on, what I think, is coral beach? It was relatively early and there were some people around there no lounge chairs right in there. Let me see if I can post a few pictures.
  9. Hi Stacey, We were just there in December and our having both our ceremony and reception on the beach.
  10. seriously, why does it seem like everybody has the same issues? I'm cautious bc my FI knows I'm on here and very eager to contribute to these type of threads But I initially tried to get my FMIL excited and involved. Sending her pictures so she feels like she's part of the planning, asking her opinion, etc. Fast forward 3 months later - avoiding wedding talk at all costs
  11. Hi Stacey, The guests will not have a choice. You have to select the 4 courses beforehand and that is what everybody will have. We are having a beach reception as well and from what I hear, there are not too many ppl are at the beach at 7pm. I worried about lights as well but after reading some reviews, seems to not have been a problem. Of course, I'd double check everything
  12. Does anybody know what color bows are included in the package? Is there a bright blue?
  13. Has anybody seen/gotten the fire dancers? Is it worth it? I believe it's $1300 for 45 minutes? Is that correct
  14. Thanks everyone I'm gluing a regular piece of paper to card stock. For the glue gun - is it relatively thin? Did it not show at all thorough the paper? I need the whole thing attached (inside of a passport to the cover).
  15. What would you recommend to use if you want to glue 2 pieces of paper back to back? I'm worried using a glue stick as it often creates air bubbles, wrinkles in the paper, and becomes unglued in parts. Thanks!!
  16. wow that is unbelievably, incredibly rude and I don't understand why people don't understand that it's a wedding..if somebody wants you there, they will invite you. Especially if you wanted to have a smaller wedding with family and close friends. Have a talk with your FI and explain your concern. Also, if people ask just politely say that it's a small intimate wedding for immediate family and close friends only and that you'd be happy to celebrate upon your return.
  17. can somebody post a sample of what their map looks like? I tried to do Riviera Maya and it looked a tad off Thanks!
  18. For those that are having weddings on the beach (including reception), where did you get lighting? Did your hotel provide it? Does anybody know of any vendors that provide decor lighting?
  19. I think I would get it as well. I tried to be practical and got a dress I was "ok" with and now I sort of regret it... I think I panicked and just wanted to get SOMETHING.
  20. we are also looking for an adults only resort for the last part of our trip (not a week, but at least the last 4 or 5 days). We are thinking Secrets Miroma, I hear it's a very nice resort but I'm curious to see what others say.
  21. Bride2010, If you could find the pictures that would be great!! I saw a few but my WC didn't give me anything. Thanks so much!
  22. Hey Girls, Just got back from Barcelo last night. So the Palmeras/Mariachi grills do seem very similar and I really didn't see much difference (other than the location). Overall the resort is very big but very beautiful and I liked it a lot. We stayed at the palace and were very happy. Food is great, beach is great, pool is amazing (and I'm not a pool person) but it has to be the biggest one I've ever seen in my entire life. It's extremely kid friendly and honestly, there's nothing negative I can say at this point. I took some pictures of misc. stuff so will post those later but please feel free to ask any specific questions.

I've seen pictures before but not sure where so I'll look around and let you know.
