  1. Oh the joys of Nebraska. So the snow thawed out and disappeared by late Sunday evening, and then yesterday didn’t suck entirely….like 49 degrees or so, so I can’t complain much about that. I went down to the Old Market district (basically a really artsy, historic district in Omaha) to try to find a cellist for my wedding, and low and behold a 15 minute walk from my car it starts to downpour…..FREEZING RAIN. That was awesome….to top it all off, I was going in for a pedi this afternoon, so I had thrown of flip flops as I walked out my door, and was freezing my toes off! On my way back to west Omaha to meet with my florist I get rear ended by a woman driving a Lexus SUV, so OF COURSE she thinks that she can drive through anything, and didn’t seem to know what the freaking brakes on her car were for. My jeep looks mechanically fine, but my back door doesn’t open on its own now, and the b*tch tried to say that there’s no way that she could be responsible for it, because the car looks fine, so it MUST have been prior damage. I’m sorry to say ladies, but I flew off the handle at the woman. She refused to provide her insurance info, so I threatened to call the police. You’re NOT going to hit my $22,000 brand new jeep and try to tell me it’s prior damage. HELL NO. So after the cop gets on the scene and explains to her that she has to provide her insurance info she admits that she doesn’t have insurance, and in fact is driving under a suspended license. So now I have to turn all of this crap into my insurance and MY rates are going to go up. Ugh…FML. On the bright side, one of my girlfriends surprised me with tickets to Say Anything next Wednesday down in Kansas City..forgive me, they are my guilty pleasure, please don’t think me emo and adolescent for my ridiculous obsession! It’ll be nice to get out of Omaha for a couple of days. Hopefully it’s warmer down there! Sorry for the novel girls. Hopefully my bad luck for today will in some way cheer someone up….because honestly, if it hadn’t happened to me I’d probably be laughing at the poor fool in my shoes! 
  2. So I wake up this morning, ready to go buy my new wedding dress, look outside, and Omaha is blanketed with almost 3 inches of snow. In early October. I have my engagement photos tomorrow at noon, my car is not ready for winter, and we didn’t even really get a Fall this year. It was blistering hot until last week, when the temperature suddenly plummeted to a tropical 45 degrees. Ugh, I hate our weather man. Light dusting my ass. Time to pull out the snowboots and winters coat and settle in. It looks like it’s going to be a long one this year. Just thought I’d take a minute to whine about the fact that the weather here is so uncooperative. How badly I wish I were down in Mexico right now, instead of here freezing to death. I need to get our heater fixed too, because it’s being stupid….perhaps because it hasn’t been turned on in 10 months. Today is just not a good day in Brandyland.  Just thought I’d share with you ladies who are in warmer climates….I resent you deeply at this point in time.  Have a good day girls!
  3. Okay ladies, this is going to sound so, so low class, but I got a little tidbit from my travel agent….not sure if I’m morally okay with it though. FI and I are going to OCT for our honeymoon from February 15-24, and our TA advised me that the more difficult a client you are, the more accommodating OCT is. He had said something about demanding an upgrade at time of c/I, and insisting upon because we are, in fact, a honeymoon couple. He said that if you do it this way, a great deal of the time they will just do it for free in an effort to appease you rather than booking into the higher room category. We had planned in booking into a master suite, but the TA had already switched our reservations from the Barcelo, and had advised us to leave the reservation as is. Idk if I feel right about being bratty at check in because my TA didn’t want to move the reservation around….any thoughts?
  4. So, I didn’t see a thread on this already, so if there is one I apologize. FI’s father passed away unexpectedly this past May, and that’s been really hard for Andy. I know that it’s going to hurt him to not have his dad at our wedding, and I wanted to surprise him with some sort of a memorial for his dad at the wedding. I’ve seen those little photo charms that go on your bouquet, but I really don’t think given the circumstances that that would be appropriate (FI’s mom has made some less than savory comments about my relationship with Dale and his opinion about me, even though they had been divorced for over 20 years at the time of his passing), and I don’t want to upset any members of the family by doing that. Are there any other suggestions of something that I could do for FI so that he can have his father be a special part of our day? It would mean so much for us to be able to honor his father, while still being able to enjoy our wedding day and not have it be filled with sadness over the loss.
  5. Thanks for the support ladies! This dog….oh this dog. I don’t even know what to do with her. FI had her upstairs in our room earlier. She took it upon herself to crap on my dog…for the second time today, right in front of Andy. I'm not sure if waned to laugh or cry when I saw him running around whining. I have no idea what it is about Ari, but he seems to be her favorite thing to poop on. I’ve never met an animal that liked to crap on another before, but whatever. After I called FI throwing a fit this afternoon he agreed to have a trainer come into our home and try to help figure her out. I’m just frustrated. Hopefully she’ll get better about making messes in the house and eating everything soon. God knows it would be nice to have her out of her kennel and not be afraid that she’s going to eat every bookshelf, table, and even wall in sight.
  6. Omg....I'm ready to fly off the handle. I bought FI an English bulldog we named Lola a while back, because he’s always wanted one. I thought it would be good to have another dog around, because we had a schnorkie (schnauzer/yorkie hybrid) named Aristotle, who has separation anxiety….I $hit you not, the dog is depressed. But that’s a different story altogether. Anyways, we’ve had this stupid dog for like 3 months now. I’ve taken her to obedience classes, potty training class, and been to the vet 5 different times with her. SHE STILL $HITS EVERYWHERE! I take her outside, and the minute I get in, what does she do? Crap on my white carpets. I run to answer the door, and come back to the living room, and what is she doing? Eating the keys on my laptop. This morning was it for me. I came downstairs and let the dogs out of their kennels. Took Lola out first..out there for 20 minutes…..the dog won’t go. Okay, that’s fine, maybe Andy let her out before he went to work. So, I come back in and take Ari outside to pee. Get him back in, and go get a glass of water. I came back into the living room, and Lola had crapped on my dog!!! She was playing in it, and it was literally ALL OVER MY FLOOR AND WALLS! I hate this dog! Omg, I’ve always been an animal lover, but I seriously want to take this dog and drive 10 miles away from my house and leave her. I’m at my wits end. She just won’t learn. I’ve tried everything to teach this dog how to pee outside and quit eating everything, but nothing gets through. I told FI that I want the dog gone, but he’s throwing a fit about it. He doesn’t see why I wouldn’t want a dirty animal who makes my house smell like crap. He insists that if we sell her, we’ll never get the amount of money we paid for her back, and that if we got rid of her, Ari would have to go too. Hello?!?!?! Ari isn’t the one who can’t learn how to take a $hit outside like a normal dog! Ugh…..I am so irritated. Time to pull out the carpet shampooer.
  7. Hey ladies, I have this beautiful sz 20W strapless David’s Bridal all lace gown for sale, that I have to get rid of! It was originally going to be my reception dress down in Mexico, but my DW got cancelled. I tried this on a few days ago, and it literally fell to the floor...which is a good thing! So, instead of having this taken in enough for me to wear it, I’m rewarding myself for all of my hard work with the weight loss and buying a new dress! Yay! I paid $749 for this dress and $59 for the champagne sash, but I’m asking $425 for it, and I’ll even cover the shipping costs. I need to get this dress out of my house so I can buy a new one!
  8. Hey hun,I looked and didn't find them . But don't fret, I have one more dollar tree to look at this weekend!
  9. As promised, I’m going to give you ladies a quick update on how things have been unfolding since our minor disaster. We got an appointment with the florist today, and she was wonderful! She agreed to do our wedding, and since we are using all preferred vendors in her little “network†or whatever we’re getting a pretty sweet discount. She quoted us right at $1000 for everything that we’ll need, which I think is a more than fair price considering we now have a colossal wedding party (8 attendants on each side.) I managed to sell my original wedding dress on ebay. I got back half of what I paid for it, so I guess I can’t complain too much, as it’s better than not getting anything back at all. I’m getting all of my BM’s together Saturday and we’ll be ordering their dresses, as well as mine as long as I find it. Things seem to be stabilizing again after all that’s happened. Hopefully the meeting with the priest tonight goes well!
  10. I just saw these at my dollar tree the other week. I'm going back this weekend. If I find them again I'd be happy to pick 10 up for you!

  17. Thank you ladies so much for your continued support! It has been such a tough week, and I’ve been doing everything I can not to completely lose my mind. We are going tomorrow to find out if we can book the florist that I’m in love with, but they usually book up 8-10 months in advance. I’ll keep you all posted as things develop!
  18. Oh ladies, so much has happened, and it’s all happened fast. As many of you know, a large part of the reason Andy and I decided on a DW was because of his fathers’ untimely death this past May. It didn’t feel right to have a huge wedding here when Dale couldn’t be a part of it. So the planning for our DW began. This past week everyone started bailing out on the wedding, and FI and I took a really hard financial hit. We had paid the deposits for everyone’s trip which were nonrefundable (our guests were aware of this), and they don’t feel obligated to reimburse us for this expense. To top it all off, the woman who had been dating FI’s father for the past few years filed a lawsuit against his estate for money that she isn’t even entitled to, and because of this FI and his sisters are all having to pay in money to the estate until the matter is settled. Because of this we are unable to afford all of the details that we wanted for our DW, which was getting rapidly expensive. Also, I am having personal issues with my parents, as they are in the middle of dissolving their marriage. After sitting down and having a long conversation, Andy and I have decided that it is in the best interest of our sanity and financial future that we stay local and plan our wedding back home in Omaha. It has been one of the most difficult and heartbreaking decisions that I have ever had to make, but there comes a time when you have to compromise things that you may want in order to get things done. We will still be going to Mexico in January, so I guess that’s good. Looks like I’ll just have a week of partying to do down there before the wedding. Idk, this has been so much to take in in such a short time, and I’d be lying if I said I weren’t disappointed in how things turned out. It’s just disheartening when you put so much work into something, just to have everything come crashing down around you. I am so grateful for all of the help that I have received through this forum. You women have been so informative and supportive of everything, from my troubles deciding on BM dresses, to helping me cope with my less than welcoming mother in law. It sounds so cheesy, but if it weren’t for being able to get honest and in-biased feedback from you ladies I probably would have lost it by now. I will be selling everything I had for my DW soon, and it looks like I’m back to square one on the planning front. We will be married on February 13, 2010 at St. John’s Catholic Parish here in Nebraska. That gives me just about 4 and a half months to plan a wedding from scratch. WISH ME LUCK LADIES!
  19. We are having a formal AHR, so I think we will be making an entrance. This is good, because we will probably be a little late (FI and his BM have rented a party bus, and apparently the wedding party will be doing a mini bar crawl....lord help us all.)
  20. I love this dress! I do think you might want to ask FI to wear pants, but if he gets them in linen he'll be comfortable....my FI insists it feels like wearing pajamas. Also, he could change into his shorts later in the evening when you change into your party dress (if thats something you're doing) that way the change will be cohesive.
  21. FI is 6'3 and I'm 5'8. My heels for AHR are 3", but I'm going barefoot to the wedding.
  22. I'm wearing my wedding dress too, until after our frst dance and then I'll change into a more comfortable party dress. It just seems appropriate because it is afterall a wedding reception!
  23. We are doing an AHR so that we can share our experience in Mexico with those we love. Thee will be a video of our ceremony played for our guests, which we couldn't do if we had a huge bon voyage prior. We are having a small bon voyage party as well, but that's mostly so our families can mingle and get to know each other before we leave.
  24. OMG....that is the funniest thing I've heard all day. I love it!
  25. How sweet! Looks like you had a great time!
