  1. It's sometimes frustrating to us from North America, where everything is GO GO GO GO GO GO! But in the islands, 20 days is proabably a record time! (Ha ha ha) when it's something as pleasurable as a rehersal dinner (or anything, for that matter) we should all just take it in stride! Wouldn't it be nice if we all could react like them?? Good on you for asking so far in advance!
  2. Isn't everything there priced in US dollars? If not...boy am I glad you started this thread, because I'm clueless!
  3. It's sort of a double edged sword. On one hand, you want to book early (say, when the prices come out 8-9 months prior) so you can secure your date. But on the other hand, prices usually lower closer to the day of departure, but your day isn't as secure. We booked over a year in advance (Feb 09 for a May 2010 departure) and the rates to go to RMB have fluctuated madly since we booked. Then again, prices for May 2010 aren't even out yet. The rate we're paying is kind of high, but then again, our date is locked in and the higher price sort of "weeds out" people who don't really want to be there for US. If you're not picky about the date you're married, then by all means, wait until closer to the date. You'll likely get a good deal and everyone you want to make it, can come. I don't really have any advice for booking bundles v. separatley, since we've booked through a TA who just did the group for us. Perhaps other brides will have better advice?
  4. Great flip flops! Aren't they just the best footwear, EVER? But...I think I'm going out with just a pretty pedicure! Nothing like getting married barefoot! (Hopefully the sand isn't too hot!!)
  5. I have a burning question for you Geralyn... HOW DID YOU AVOID TAN LINES I think that may be the biggest stress of the day...you looked so fantastic! Sans tan lines!
  6. Ha ha ha!! You're AWESOME! Thanks so much for this! From, a RMB picture whore: ~Tina (a.k.a. Perplexy)
  7. I noticed that there were extreme differences in the 2009 and 2010 Free packages too! I wonder why they'd do that? It makes sense that there won't be an extra charge for the dinner (since it IS an AI resort), and if there's only 10 chairs aroudn your ceremony site, grab some lawn chairs or lounges and have your guests sit on those! It is Jamaica, mon! No problem! Ha ha ha...just kidding. I'm sure Riu ill accommodate more chairs. I hope...I'm doing the free wedding too!
  8. I'm so happy to see two others on here suggesting The Wedding Holiday too! (We are also going through them... ) Seriously, contact them (even if you're not around the Oakville, ON area) and they'll be able to help you out tremendously! It's their job to find the best price at the best hotel, and they don't even charge anything for it! They're just THAT good. Good luck! On an aside note, $3000 per couple really doesn't sound that extravagant. That works out to $1500 each, which seems quite reasonable for a luxury resort. But look around if you don't like the price. You're bound to find something!
  9. Oh dear...our wedding is supposed to start at 2:00! I suppose a cocktail hourS would be in order for us before dinner!
  10. OMG! I have been waiting for you to get back! I'm so glad your DW went so well! Congrats MRS!!! Welcome back home...but hurry up with the pics and review! I can't WAIT!
  11. I'm looking at bridesmaids dresses. They're perfect for the beach and TTD pics, and cost under $1000 every time!
  12. Look at that! You're awesome! I hope everything went smoothly and that you're not too sunburnt!
  13. Congrats Andrew! One of the only men here! Welcome to the forums! You have definitely come to the right place!

  15. Congrats and welcome!
  16. Sloan's right! SUNSCREEEN!!! You want to be a blushing bride...not a sunburnt one! Have fun!
  17. Holy cow, naive me! I hadn't even thought that the safe could be "un-safe"! Thanks for the tips...now it's time for brainstorming for other places to hide the wedding rings, before we use them!
  18. HAPPY PLANNING! Welcome to the forums! You'll find everything you need here, and more!

  20. Congrats and welcome fellow Jamaica bride!
  21. I have been wondering the same thing for a while, despite the fact that we have already chosen RMB. There seem to be a lot of brides getting married at ROR, but our TA gave us an incredible deal of 1 person free for every 11 booked. We never thought of ROR because of the wrath of a crazy bridezilla who got married there previously. (not on these forums, of course...). I have only heard great things though. RMB on the other hand...aside from the few reviews from brides on here, there's nothing really to go on. It's a brand new resort, so it's all trial and error until more of us get back!
  22. CONGRATS! Hawaii, eh? That's still a dream that I have yet to accomplish. Keep searching...you'll find your answers soon!
  23. Welcome! Search the pages on here, and you'll find a great resort in no time
  24. Welcome, and congrats! I'm also May 2010! May 5 to be exact! I love your name btw..."averylongengagement4" Certainly seems that way sometimes, doesn't it?
  25. Welcome back MRS! Cant wait for the review! I hope everything went smoothly.
