So sorry to hear that!! I can totally sympathize because my best friend/MOH of over 15 years just told me she isn't coming because she can't afford it. Yet she has more than enough money for trips that she wants to take and things she wants to buy. And I gave everyone almost a years' notice!

I fell in love with a beautiful strapless Maggie Sottero gown but now I'm having second thoughts about bearing my arms. I know I have several months to go but I'm sorta apple shaped which means I like my legs but my upper half (particularly my upper arms) never gets thin, even when I lose weight. I'm scared that I'm going to feel uncomfortable and self-conscious all day and avoid the camera, so I'm thinking about getting a bolero jacket. Any ideas? Anyone with the same issue? I saw online that David's Bridal sells removable cap sleeves, but I'm thinking I may want more coverage than that.

I'm not sure if any of you guys saw it, but yesterday's Martha Stewart show featured destination weddings, and she showed samples of the different packages you can order at Sandals! It was a good episode, and it is being rerun in my area tomorrow at 8am, so you may want to check your local listings and tune in. She also has tips for wedding undergarments and hairstyles that will hold up in the heat.

Hello ladies, I'm trying to sell this dress for a dear friend whose wedding was cancelled, so she never got to wear this beautiful dress. It's a Bonny Bridal Style 463, Size 12. There are definitely ways to find travel costs only photogs. We were able to find one by asking in the graphic design department of the local university. We were expecting to get someone with not much experience but with an awesome portfolio, and instead we are getting a very experienced award-winning photographer (who has done many weddings) with a great resume and the photojournalism style that I wanted. The last hurdle is that he has to ask for the time off, since he is also employed full-time as the university's official photographer! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it works out. Then I have to draft a contract (or revise his standard one) to cover all the unexpected things I've seen on this forum. Thanks to this board, I'm prepared to lay out all the potential issues in the contract. Plus it helps to be a lawyer whose main task is contract drafting...I like to think I'm good at disaster-proofing an agreement. So I think anyone that wants to try to find a travel costs photographer should do so. You get to choose from the portfolios and the worst they can say is no and the best is that you get amazing pics to treasure forever!

Islandbride 2b, You can't legally get married in two places. You are right...because the US recognizes the Jamaica ceremony as legal, you can't "legally" get married again in the US to rush the paperwork. Only one day will be legal, and the other would be symbolic.

I think you just have to make it clear to the officiant in Jamaica that it is a symbolic ceremony only. You can't have two legal wedding dates. Also, it might be an issue if you are at a resort (such as Sandals) that is giving you and/or guests certain amenities that are tied to having the legal wedding. I recently saw this post from a TA on another board (but this is unique to Sandals): The advice I am about to give may sound redundant (in fact, rather silly): Do Not Get Married Before You Arrive At The Resort. I received a phone call last night from a bride (who did not book with me and btw, in this case would not have made a difference). Last year, she booked her Weddingmoon at one of the resorts to be married sometime later this year. The both of them wanted to move in together but felt that they should wed before doing so. A few months ago they legally got married. They did not realize by doing so that they would void the terms of a weddingmoon, leaving them only with the option of a renewal of vows ceremony. Sandals/Beaches Resorts cannot provide a weddingmoon to a couple that is already legally married because they will be fined. This runs into many complications esp if having a large wedding party (i.e. rehearsal dinner and the rest of the amenities on the Group Weddingmoon Package). Hence my advice: Do Not Marry Before Arriving At The Resort!! She went on to say that the only issue was not the wedding itself but the fact that the bride had many guests attending and had lots of group amenities attached to her package that would be applicable to her guests became nullified because she married before she arrived at the resort. Of course, it is still a personal preference, just a word of warning in case you are getting amenities tied to an actual "wedding" (especially at Sandals!)

We booked our wedding at Sandals MoBay very recently. Initially, we looked at SGOR and loved the look of the rooms, but picked MoBay for the following reasons: -It is the only Sandals resort in Jamaica that allows for a Catholic ceremony -Has exchange privileges with 2 other resorts, including Sandals Inn, which is a quite a bit less expensive than MoBay, for guests on a budget -the Bay Roc villas! We are working with TA Jennifer from this site, and I would suggest contacting her and telling her what you need and are looking for and she'll help you out!

Hi everyone, My name is Dyan (pronounced like Diane). I am pretty recently engaged...about two weeks! We are most likely having our wedding May 2010. Right now we are looking at all-inclusives in Jamaica (possibly Mexico) for the location. That may all change though. There are so many factors to consider! This forum has been really helpful so far!
