  1. FI and I will have our engagement pics taken by my brother. He's no professional but photography is one of his hobbies. We were going to take them this past weekend but the weather here in NJ has been quite cold! I agree with Nam, you can find beginner photog's online and a lot will actually do them for free!
  2. Yes, send the thank you's asap like everyone mentioned
  3. that's awesome, i know a lot of my guests will find this helpful! thanks for the post
  4. I was thinking lastnight before going to bed that I should mention my wedding website on the STD. That way when they visit they will find more info on details as well as the AHR, just like you said mich999. Thanks guys for all your help! I hope I don't run into any more problems, planning a wedding is already stressful enough!
  5. I think I will be doing the same. FI and I still have a few things to shop for before we move into the house... it'll be fun picking out paint colors
  6. FI and I were supposed to close on our first house tomorrow, now it's pushed back to next Wednesday. It frustrates me because 1) We had all of our documents together and forwarded over to the bank when they asked for it. 2) We were looking forward to a 3-day weekend to go shopping for paint and two new toilets, haha. Well, now we can't do that! 3) We're working with contractors to have things fixed around the house and they were supposed to start next Monday. Now the bank is telling us they need a few more days to process our mortgage and they keep asking for the same documents over and over again! I'm like, "YOU HAVE IT! I SENT YOU THREE COPIES THREE DIFFERENT TIMES!" And on top of that we don't even know if our contractors will be able to start work on the house starting Thursday next week! I just want to start working on the house so that I can move into it soon
  7. We're leaving our guys at home The thought of them possibly getting sick or not travelling well worries us. I know this resort isn't in PV but they are pet friendly, Palace Resorts - Welcome to the Official Site - Enjoy an exciting vacation in the natural setting of the Xpu-Ha Palace Resort!. The first pet is free and the 2nd is 50 extra.
  8. you did a great job, they look great! jw though, what kind of printer did you get? i was thinking of doing my own STDs but am afraid a regular inkjet won't do the job.
  9. Hi Ladies, Here's my dilemma. A lot of my family and FI family are complaining that a trip to Mexico for our wedding will be too much. Although, we do have some family that is willing to come to the ceremony despite the out of pocket expense they'll incur. I want to make this as comfortable for everyone as possible, so I was thinking if I should include our intention to have an AHR on the STD. That way people can decide to skip out on Mexico and attend the AHR instead, which will be much cheaper for them. At the same time I am scared to do this because I still want people at my ceremony, what if everyone just decides to go to the AHR instead? Should I just send the STD without the AHR announcement and send that at a later time (4 months before wedding date), or send the STD with AHR details? I am just really afraid that if I don't send AHR info on the STD, family will complain, "Well, why did you make me pay for the trip when I could just see you when you return?! I could've saved so much money! Why didn't you mention an AHR when you sent STD?!" Has anyone gone through this? What did you do?

Anyone know prices? I think it's $196 for 1 night right now. I have 3-night and 5-night room rates and they come down to $204.16 and $200.45 per night, respectively. This is for double occupancy rooms and includes transfer from hotel to resort and is also for next year. Hope this helps!
  11. I want to know this as well... after reading many posts I found out that all the wedding stuff happens on the Nizuc side (gazebos, WC office, beauty salons...etc). I also read that the Sunrise side has the disotech and is where all other stuff happens. The nizuc side has the kids play area, too. I just hope I am right with all of this, dont quote me. Anyone else want to elaborate?
  12. Camie, thanks for all the tips! This helps a lot in terms of knowing what to expect and what to bring, like a notepad to write down what the WC says at the meeting.
  13. Sorry to hear that. I was laid off last May from a biopharma company, within a few months I am happy to say I found a new job. It's tough but I hope you still get the wedding of your dreams!
  14. I will also be a Maggie bride. I ordered my "Michelle" dress in diamond white last week! Michelle - by Maggie Sottero
  15. I was there last August. My FI and I along with my brother and his gf visted the Smith's family luau and Fern Grotto. Apparently it is a hot spot for weddings. As you arrive to the Fern Grotto the Smith family welcome you with some songs and entertainment on the boat. When I went there you were unable to walk into the fern grotto.. you can only see the grotto on a platform and unable to go into the cave. Back in the day people were able to go into the cave, I forget the story behind why it's closed off but no one is allowed in there anymore. On your way out you walk through a path of flowers and pretty cool looking plants! The luau and garden are spectacular. There are peacocks, pigs, chickens and other animals running loose but they won't bother you. You can also see a lot of their indigenous plants in the garden as well. I agree with the above post, you should definately do a private event because there are a lot of people at the luau. The food was good and the buffet line wasn't too long. I have a million pictures if you want to email me at [email protected] I'll be happy to send them to you.
  16. TinaM2be, Is the pressing of your dress part of the 2009 package? The 2010 packages don't say anything about pressing of the dress... do you know how much extra that'll be? Tonya
  17. Have any of you ladies have your FI rent tuxes down in MP? How about the groomsmen?
  18. i totally had that "OMG this is the one" moment. I was with my mom and dad at a bridal boutique and we all loved it. After trying on several dresses there I finally stumbled upon my dress. I tried on DW gowns as well as the thick meant to be worn in the winter gowns (just wanted to see the style on me). Like most of the girls said, the gown should flatter you and you will feel like a princess in it when you finally stumble upon the dress you want. It'll take some time, be patient
