Congratulations and welcome to the forum. We are also staying at Coba and getting married at the gazebo, only we won't be there until April 2010. Happy planning!!

GregsBride, I must admit, when I got my ticker to show up for the first time I got all giddy! I'm posting this now, just to see where it is at today, Ha!

We didn't really care what date we got married on, it just worked out that way due to when we arrived at the resort and legally could get married, (4 days later). Welcome Adelaide, happy planning!!! We have both been to Europe seperately and really want to travel there together, so I think that will be our honeymoon trip. Again, something to look forward to after the wedding!

Heidi, You look absolutely radiant in your photos! I am so happy that despite having to move locations your wedding turned out as amazing as it did! Congratulations to you both Take care!!

Hi and welcome! There is a thread specifically for this resort, search for Gran Bahia Principe Akumel/Tulum/Coba. I am also getting married at this resort, but staying at the Coba side. There is a TON of information on that thread, it will probably take you a few days to read it all! Good luck planning Julie

Hi ladies! I too am an April 2010 bride... April 1st actually! It wasn't planned that way, but we are getting married in the Mayan Riviera and legally we have to be there 4 days before getting married and that just happens to be April 1st. I am a school teacher so we were limited on when we could travel, it will be my Spring Break that we are going on, so no immediate honeymoon. We are thinking of going to Europe in the summer. So far I thought I was doing pretty good, but after reading this thread I'm a little worried I'm behind in things. Here is what we've done so far... -Booked the resort, including date, time (tentative) and wedding package. -Booked hotel/flights and have 10 seats reserved and 2 people with a deposit so far -I've ordered my dress, it will be here in September -Made a wedding website, (that I'm discovering not many people are looking at which is a bummer, b/c all of the booking info is on it) -DIY Save the Dates mailed in the middle of April -Bought bags for the OOT bags -Looked into some photographers and received quotes but nothing booked -Decided on our wedding party -My colors are green (like a tropical kiwi green), turqouis blue, and brown There is more that we have discussed but have not completed, like where and when our at home reception will be, as well as our wedding social (a Manitoba thing!), what Drew, my FI will wear. I will be DIY'ing the invites as well and have made an example. We were thinking of making them over the summer and mailing them late August early September, as the deadline for the group rates we got for the resort are due at the end of October. Other than that we have lots of ideas but have yet to follow through on them. I'm glad I found this thread though, it will be a great place to check in and see where everyone else is at in the planning process! Bye for now, Julie

Arrghh, stupid me, ignore my message above. I went back and re-read the recent posts and the bride who had already booked her restaurant is getting married in less than 3 months, not 2010! Sorry, I'm super tired these days, the end of the school year is upon me and my students have been draining all possible energy out of me!!

Wow! I don't check out this thread for a couple of days and boom, new questions and information galore! I am curious as to how some of the 2010 brides have already booked your restaurant? I was in contact with Paloma consistenly during the pre-booking stages, then once we had a date, time (tentative), location, and wedding package confirmed, I have not had any contact with her at all. I tried to get a response about what we could plan now and if she could send restaurant options but I did not hear back. Throughout the thread it looked as though we had to wait 3 months before our date to get those decisions made, so I took her non response as an okay thing. Now, I'm wondering/worried? If anyone could shed some light on this that would be awesome! Julie

Yay another Winnipeg bride going to the Gran Bahia! Welcome!! I'm getting married there as well but staying on Coba side. Wedding date is April 1, 2010. Have fun reading, there is a ton of great info on here

ColinB, I emailed Paloma and booked a wedding date with her that way. Once we spoke to our travel agent and got our group confirmation number I forwarded that to Paloma and then she sent a reply with a confirmation of wedding date and location and approximate time. We haven't paid anything yet. I think from reading here that takes place once you are there? We are also having our wedding April 2010, April 1st actually. We are staying on the Coba side but having the ceremony at the gazebo. Good luck planning, Jules

Hey Emme, You plan sounds exactly like what we were hoping for. We have been confirmed for the gazebo around 4:30ish? Depending on the minister. Apparently we could have a reception over there too. A friend of my fiance is also having her wedding there a few months before we are and she went for a site visit in Feb. and said she saw a reception happening there. So it sounds as though whatever you want to have (whatever pool) you could have it. For a cost I'm sure! Good luck planning! P.S. My fiance wanted to point out you are getting married on his birthday! HA!
