  1. Welcome back, Kristy!! And welcome all new St. Lucia brides! I am so excited - we leave Monday for a day in Miami then Tuesday, look out St. Lucia, here we come! We are staying at the Rendezvous, an all inclusive and will have our wedding on the beach, Friday June 19th. The wedding planners at the Rendezvous have been fabulous so far. I've had no hidden costs and lots of great communication with them. We've talked on the phone, letters and emails. I just finished my bouquet and Rob's boutinaire. I did them in silk so I'd have just I wanted. I am one of "those" brides with 4 gowns! Eek! As we planned and I thought, my idea of our wedding changed. I started with a gorgeous Jessica McClintock that I bought online. However, it did not flatter my figure. :-( So then I got a fantastic deal on a chiffon Alfred Angelo that was very simple, again online, but didn't feel like a bride in it. :-( I ended up with a very elegant beaded and sequined lace gown (slight mermaid) that I absolutely adore! Then I got a TTD so that makes 4 dresses!! I'll end up selling the Jessica McClintock and the Alfred Angelo but I can't even think about that now!! I have everything I need, including a short and a long veil that everyone here helped me decide that I needed depending on the weather. All I am missing is a garter - something that is not a big priority for me. If I get one that's ok, if I don't that's also ok. I'm packing tonight as well as a few girl friends have invited me for a farewell drink. Oops, just saw the time - need to go have that margarita!
  2. Hi Ctweety, Welcome from another St. Lucia bride-to-be! We'll be getting married pretty close together - my wedding day is June 19, 2009. We will be staying at the Rendezvous and getting married there. It'll be just the two of us in St. Lucia but plan on having a fun reception for friends and family when we get back.
  3. Best wishes, Kristy! Relax and have the ultimate time of your life! Can't wait to see photos of you as a gorgeous bride on the beach!
  4. Thanks, Kristy! I missed your post on photographers. Did you have your parties, last fitting this last weekend? 5 days until you leave!! Woo hoo!! Do you fly through Miami or is there a direct flight from NY? I'm leaving from Dallas, fly to Miami, spend the night there so we can be on the morning flight to St. Lucia! We'll probably miss each other by 3 weeks!
  5. I DIY's the envelope liners. I looked all over for some paper that was lightweight as well as had my colors. The liners I cut from wrapping paper! Very easy and quick to do.
  6. I just wanted to show off my invitations that I and a few friends made. In 5 days they went from an idea to being mailed! What do you think? Rob and I are going alone to St. Lucia for our wedding but will have a big reception a month later - these are the invitatins for that.
  7. Anyone with a recommendation for a photographer in St. Lucia? We're getting married at the Rendezvous in just a little more than a month. Help!
  8. Thank you everyone! I really wanted MIB invites but I couldn't get them like my inner vision saw them - which probably was not possible. My fiancee, Rob, was very understanding and along with several girlfriends, we all designed, printed with a gocco, cut, assembled, lined envelopeand actually mailed all of my invitations in a span of 5 days! That's 100 invites! Whew!! Rob asked me in my teary moment what I envisioned a perfect invite to look like. Once I actually told him what I wanted, it was easier to leave my beloved MIB behind. We are getting married in St. Lucia on June 19th all by ourselves but the invitations are for the reception a month later. I've provided some links to the process as well as my finished invite! What do you think?? Here is the finished invite suite. We used ivory and orange cardstock plus parchment ivory text paper for the invitation, a turquoise ribbon belly band with an attached flower with rhinestone sticker in the center, ivory cardstock for rsvp and turquoise cardstock for the info card. The envelopes are ivory and then we lined them with some gift wrap paper we found: Here we are gocco'ing away: Here is the ivory cardstock that is layered with orange cardstock prior to the invitation being attached: [ Invites drying on the floor at work: And the invites along with the diy lined envelopes, rsvp, and info cards:
  9. I'm getting all ready for my first Gocco project - my invitations! I'm excited and scared. Tonight I'm cutting all my paper and then tomorrow... As I'm bored stiff cutting all the paper, I started thinking about how everything is assembled. I'm going to have the invite with a belly band, a RSVP and envelope, and one other card giving more details on everything. My question is: Do you put the belly band around just the invitation or does the RSVP, envelope, info card, and invite all get banded together?? Help!
  10. I have been designing my invitations for our reception when we get back and love the look of the petal cards like this one: A7 Aqua Lagoon Metallic Petal Card Enclosure - Paperandmore.com I have a question: do the directions and rsvp/envelope go INSIDE the petal card? I will have my invite adherred to the inside of it. Or do they go separately? Thanks!
