I have heard back from Gabriella and YES, we can have our own translator. The wedding will be done in Spanish, but the "minister" will have an English written version with him so the person translating does not even need to know Spanish.

I really do not have any colors.. Blue..I guess..although it REALLY does not matter.

Hello. I am getting married at the Barcelo Maya Beach on January 21 2010 and hoping someone whom is getting married the week before will want to share centerpieces..or week after .. I am not picky, nor do I care about keeping them after...just want something different than the fruit piece the resort has. Please let me know if you are intersted. We arrive on the 16th and leave the resort on the 24th. thanks

We are having a legal ceremony at the Barcelo Beach and have been told that our WC will translate as the minister? will be speaking in Spanish. We have a friend that speaks spanish and it would be SO much nicer if he was able to translate. Has anyone ever had anyone else but the WC translate the service. Thanks

Hi Ladies (or gents as I would hate to be sexist). There seems to be tonnes of information on the Palace in this forum..but very little on the Beach/Caribe or Colonial/Tropical. Would love to touch base with other brides. We are getting married at the Beach January 21, 2010..the time is coming fast and I feel I have lots left to do. My wedding co-ordinator is Gabrielle and the emails are sllllooooow in coming.. I have purchasd the fans but now want to purchase the paper (about 3 1.2 x 8 inches) and have no idea where to start looking. Has anyone found any online somewhere? I have the wording already drawn up just want to find the paper and print them off myself. I am just curious why you feel sending something out in January is too late? Why do you need a definite number so soon.. does your resort require it? I have to let our resort know 3 weeks before the number or guests that will attend. I would not stress about it. Send out your invites in January with an RSVP date. ALOT of people will wait until the winter holiday travel season begins before they will book. Or if you have a website just put the "note" of book now on there. good luck

I am somewhat in the same boat. I have recently had to tell an old friend (like one of those friends that you had when you were dating someone else) that she was not invited and that we were only inviting friends that "both of us" have. She took it hard but understood in the end. Just do what you have to do.. what is best for you and your day...

I have had two showers (one put on by mom and another by a girlfriend). Alot of people came that were not invited to the wedding...but there were NO formal invites that went out. Just word of mouth so it was optional to come or not. I found alot of people came because they wanted to support us..regardless of the fact that they were invited to the wedding as they realized it is a small wedding. Hope that helps.

MY Fh and I are travelling with about 10 kids under 10 to the Mayan Riviera in January. Two of them are ours and the rest are friends children or nephews etc. Does anyone have any good ideas on things we can do on the plane to make the time pass a little quicker. Kids games etc for a plane..picture search ?

We are just going to head back to the Lobby Bar after supper...but nothing set in stone..

We have two toddlers (one is special needs) so our gifts to each other is a babysitter for the WEEK..who will fly down with us and we will have our own room adjoiing her and the kids.

Hi Sandra, I see that you are getting married at the Barcelo in Mayan Riviera. I had read a post somewhere (will search for it) that said someone bought maracas right at the hotel and they even painted/engraved the bride/groom names and date. just a thought. lots less to pack..this is what I plan do as we are having our wedding at the Barcelo in January as well.

I am going to place them on the chairs at the ceremony as well. I would rather have a few left over fans than sweating guests... but I certainly will not be bringing the extras home...
