  1. good luck today tracy!!! with the BD shoot and the room situation! keep us posted on both! michele, it looks like we're court buddies! i'll definitely be keeping my fingers crossed for you that everything goes okay! i have to go to court tomorrow for J since it's our hearing to get his daughter to come to the wedding. seems like a lot of work for her to see her father get married, doesn't it? i just sent an email to our airline to ask about travelling with a wedding dress. thankfully mine doesn't need to be steamed since it already has a wrinkly look, so if it has to go in the overhead it's okay, but i'd really rather just hang it up in a closet!
  2. elifrigo - that mamajuana thing is awesome!! very DR appropriate! maybe more of a wedding party gift?
  3. tracy - when is your BD shoot? something tells me you either had it last weekend or it's coming up this week maybe? and WOW.. that is such a huge hassle with your room. someone needs to take accountibility for it and fix the mess! i will keep my fingers crossed that it will all work out in the end. somehow it always seems worse when you're right in the middle of it!
  4. i did the same thing as tracy.. i TOLD him we're doing it and he just went along! if you're having trouble convincing him though, just show him pictures... there are plenty of threds on here! it's an excuse for him to jump in the water in his nice clothes... J was definitely excited about that! it's really a once in a lifetime kind of experience, so if you can swing it, i think it'll be worth it! and tara, congrats on the MOH issue!! take a big sigh of relief for that one!! i am just going to laugh if you all post TTD pictures in your Sears dresses and you're all in the same one!
  5. holy new bride explosion!!! i haven't had to catch up this much in SO long! for the longest time it was just me and tara in april and now there are a whole big group! too bad pretty much no one will be there during our visit! toya, you'll be just fine getting that stuff done! you'd be surprised.. you'll get a burst of inspiration one day and then you'll just go nuts getting everything finished. or at least that's what i keep telling myself so i don't flip about what i have left!!
  6. elifrigo - i'm sending you the info now. also, don't hesitate to email them.. flori is amazing and very responsive!
  7. i've heard that the "morning after" makeup and hair let down look is what some people do, but how often does it really end up looking picture-worthy? unless i'm doing something wrong, i've never looked ready for a photo shoot after a night out!! and i'm using my real dress... and it's funny because i have the same thought process, just a different conclusion. i love my dress SO much, that i can't imagine having those pictures done and not wearing for that too. it gives me another excuse to wear it since i probably won't ever again after that!
  8. congrats on the new job, michele!! it's crazy how stuff like that works out! and with your new, super powerful car, you'll be all set!! in the spirit of sharing hair inspiration, here's a picture i don't think i've posted before. my MOH also does hair and makeup so she's doing mine for the wedding and she did a practice-run on a dummy. it looks a little creepy since it's just a head, but you get the idea! where the pin she used is will be the amazing hair piece that my photographer is making for me! i don't know anything about it yet besides her using pink veiling!! tracy, we're doing a ttd shoot too! from what i've read, a lot of the girls who don't do it, wish they had! we're even having our videographer shoot that part too, so we can remember everything that doesn't get captured in the pictures. i think i'm doing a more casual hair/makeup look, and again my photographer is making a hair piece (some kind of headband thing i think, for this shoot. i am really looking forward to it!
  9. i'm trying to not get nervous about wind on the beach! everything has been done with the expectation that it will be windy.. even our videographer is getting special things to block the wind, but hopefully it won't be too much of an issue. nothing i can do to control that, thankfully!! i finally organized all of our wedding stuff into what we're bringing with us and what we're not. i was actually surprised at how little space what we're bringing took up, considering that we have 3 tall square vases, one short, rectangle vase and 3 sand ceremony bottles!! we also are doing real touch flowers and the bridesmaids are taking theirs with them. all we'll have to bring is my bouquet, the bouts and the flowers for the centerpieces (nothing big). at least i have it all organized so when we go to pack we know just what we need to bring! snowed in AGAIN = getting more stuff done!! surprisingly things are coming off the list faster than going on... for once!
  10. kim - we're doing the legal part at home first and hamilton county's website has some realy helpful information about what you have to do to make it legal. if you need the info, let me know! meghan.. we're actually doing something similar with J's daughter. we're about 99% sure at this point that she's not going to be able to come to the wedding.. even though she has no idea about this yet. but if she can't come she'll be going to the legal part with us. that way she gets to be there when it's "real" and it'll just be the two of us, her and one of J's sisters to be the witness and take pictures. we had to come up with a way to still make her feel special even though she can't come.
  11. just sent my booklet to the girls who asked for it! sorry for the delay, ladies!!
  12. tracy i think you got some great stuff! one tip that my photographer had before my shoot was to bring a variety of accessories if you have them. the little touches (like your necklace and shoes) add a little spice to the pictures!! you might want to try anything like a target or walmart and see if they have those chicken cutlet-looking inserts. you can put them in a regular bra to give you a little boost up! i actually have some to wear for the wedding too and i got them at target i believe.
  13. i just used powerpoint. if you want anything from that file let me know and i'll send it! the font i used on the front is "sala de fiestas" from dafont.com. the cover page is actually what the luggage tags look like too! deyanira is doing a rehearsal with us and is coordinating everyone the day of, but she's not even doing our ceremony so i'm not sure how much i want to tip her. i'm such a bad bride because i'd rather tip flori than her! jennifer, i didn't email it to you since i thought you had been able to download it from the forum? if not, i can definitely send it!
  14. oh man, jocy i had a question too... are there ipod docks in the rooms? i've read differently in a few places and i want to make sure!
  15. tracy, i did a BD session WAYYYYYY back in july. let me see if i can find the link... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-eyespy-45897/ it was an absolute BLAST!!! just make sure you have a little something to drink at first to take the edge off. after about 5 minutes you'll feel perfectly at ease! have you put together some outfits yet?
  16. mel - i am SO jealous. i really don't have that much left to do to actually prepare for the day besides getting things ready to give to the resort WC and the WC for our reception, but my list has about 100000 little things!! michele - you got your new car just in time! and it'll be much safer i'm sure. your veil is beautiful too... i've also found that finding the right accessories to go with my dress is pretty difficult too.. you don't want to take away from the dress and most of us usually have something that we picture in our heads and it can be hard to find! with all the snow we got (though not as much as michele!) i had time to put some extra touches on the flower girl pail, which was one of my last DIY projects. i'm done thinking about most of that stuff!! soo much stuff on my list is things that i have to do at the last minute in april. why can't it all be done now?!?
  17. just emailed you girls the file! thanks for the info about tipping jocy.. i've been wondering about that. since our reception is not at the resort i'm not sure what to do about tipping deyanira. that'll probably be a game-time decision. i also am using pastor york though, and he charges $300, so i have a hard time justifying tipping him for doing a 15 min. ceremony for that price! is anyone else using pastor york and planning on tipping?
  18. elena, i'll be getting to DPC the day after your wedding.. are you staying much after your date? i hope everyone that was/is snowed in is doing okay! the weather here just started to let up, thank goodness. although i think i got a pretty sweet upper-body workout from shovelling every 4 hours! i attached our information book for you all to see too. it is really micro-managing at its finest!! several of our guests have never had an experience like this before, and i didn't want anyone to have an excuse for not knowing something or forgetting something! the books got printed last week and were the final piece to our OOT bags! Info Book Draft.pdf
  19. no worries jocy.. just glad to hear that everything went as well as you'd hoped!! and thank goodness for the clouds clearing and getting to fit in your wedding! and your pictures are GORGEOUS!! there is something about that pool that just looks amazing in TTD pictures, in my opinion! and i LOVED your dad's kilt.. very very cool! i have a couple of questions, if you don't mind! 1) did you have to order the champagne in your room while you were getting ready, or was that complimentary? 2) did the WC do a good job of coordinating everyone in the wedding party? i'm afraid J and the groomsmen won't have any idea where to go or what to do.. not to mention me knowing when to get ready to walk down to the beach! 3) did you use an ipod for the ceremony music? if you did, did the WC do an okay job of controlling that? (i think it may end up being a joke that i'm so worried about this.. of all the things!) thank you so so much again. i'm sure it's impossible to get your head on straight after being gone for so long!
  20. tonyaandtricia.. thank you so so much for posting the picture! i'm so glad that he made it to you safely! did the other brides include pictures in the journal as well?
  21. TLC.. another tip if some of your questions aren't getting answered.. put them in list form. i think a lot of us have found that if we number our questions and make them as simple as possible, is decreases the chance of them being overlooked! good luck, take a deep breath and happy planning!
  22. meghan, thank goodness for your sister and that your FI's party is a ski weekend. was that necessary to keep from you? sheesh! don't people realize how we worry and stress!! tracy, i'm so sorry that you've gone through all of that with one of your bridesmaids. it almost sounds like she needed the clarification of what a bridesmaid needs to do! also found out that girls aren't rsvping to my bachelorette party yet because they were worried about the cost of the limo. too bad that my MOH can't figure out the limo price without a headcount! she told me the cost of the limos for just 5 hours and it is unreal!! we'll definitely be researching some other transportation options that are budget-friendly! my information books (to put in the OOT bags) are officially printed and DONE!! cross it off the list!
  23. the wedding on the beach actually isn't free.. it's $300 sadly. the huppah with decorations is also $300, but if you just want it with the white fabric, then it's $150.
  24. $60 bucks for a week? seriously? that is an amazing price for boarding!! i think ours is going to be like $300 for the whole week, but we have two pretty big dogs. at least i know they will be well taken care of. any word on the "beach casita"? i think they just change the names of things to make them sound new, but it's all the same old stuff!
  25. i'm so glad to hear that PC is nice! we picked the DR for a number of reasons... we started out knowing we didn't want to do anywhere in mexico. we originally looked at turks and caicos, but the resort there didn't really have the wedding packages we wanted. my travel agent suggested PC and my brother had been there before and loved it. when we chose the resort is was based on the flexibility of the wedding packages and how family-friendly it was.
