Staten Island Girl here!! NO I did not look for places on the island or near here, bc living in NY is great but very pricey! Also, My fiance owns an entertainment company in SI and has been Djing Weddings for 15 years now. 1 year of prep., 5 hrs, and then it is all overrr... We decided a destination wedding was best for us...a week with our friends and family to celebrate and not just 5 hrs!

PS- The prices I have been quoted were ok for MP, but checking out Orbitz etcv. the prices were significantly cheaper..Now we are trying to get MP to either match the price or allow my guests that are booking w these outside companies to coutn towards my package.

Helllo!! The collection we picked i believe is the diamond. But I think I might switch only bc I do not want everything in that package and if I change and swap things I believe we have to pay for it. These are decisions I will have to make as it approaches.

Hello I haven't even thought about photographers yet. I don't know if that is bad or what! I hope someone is closer to my date, it would be interesting to see how her planning is coming along and share some thoughts etc and possibly sharing something!! I am getting married JULY 3 2010!!!! -Moon Palace What I have done so far (I did a list on Moon Palace thread, where girls have added their list too) - Booked Moon Palace -Beach wedding at 6pm -Sent out STD In July -Ordered My wedding dress In July/Aug. Dress takes 6 months. Will be receiving it Feb. -Just found my bridesmaid dresses. Will be ordering them in Jan. -Sending out my Invitations hopefully before Feb. Deciding on djs now..haven't heard back yet I think I covered what I have done so far! Happy Plannign

Thank you girls for your postings. I feel a little better about the dresses and will take your advices. I am planning to have my girls wear B2 it is a division of Belosie or something like that. I found these dresses and happen to like most of his or her collection. They have a nice variety of styles and figured this would work best for all my bridesmaids. I tried Davids Bridal and I found some I liked, but heard they were discontinued. New styles "might" be coming in end of Jan. I need to order before then! I am going to try an talk to the lady who owns the store that carries B2 and see if we can get a better deal bc I am ordering around 11 bridesmaid dress and possibly having my mom and mother in law buy there as well! And if anyything.. maybe I will pay for alterations or shoes etc. I guess I have to figure all this out! Thanks again girls!

After searching for bridesmaid dresses and finding the designer, style and color my new challenge is the price. The prices I believe range from 160- 200. Not including alterations, shoes etc. Is this a reasonable price to ask of my bridesmaids to spend? HELP! Jodi

You will never please everyone and you will always have someone if not many complain. Do what is best for you guys and rem. it is your day! You already chose the location..now the resort. This took me about three months to decide. What I would do is read peoples posts from the Maya Riveria section. I am getting married at Moon Palace. I loved their other location and reading peoples posts helped me make my decision. Lots of luck to you!

Hii Slapslappyhappy Ohhh how much I relate with u.. I am also from NY and the airfare alone from Newark to Cancun is a bit high right now. We have had people say they are coming to now not sure..and as it gets closer I am getting worried. It def. is saving us money in the end, bc having a wedding in NY is quite the expensive. I have had friends spend over 50,000 on a wedding. So in the long run we will be better off, but as of right now I am stressing this. I am sure everything will work out! good luck to you and to all of us!

Hopefully they will allow my guests that booked through orbitz etc to count towards something or match the prices bc it is a 300 dollar difference which is big in any economy esp. this one.

Just curious what perks? How does it work for you? We are having a hugee problem. We have a TA who arranged that if we have guests that in total stay 75 days we get a free wedding etc. However, most of our guests are trying to do the booking themselves bc the prices are somewhat on the high side. Most of our geusts are tryign o use orbitz, expedia.. etc. We think it should count for somethign, since the only reason why they are staying at the resort is due to our wedding. Basically we are helping their resort make money, and they are not doing anything for us or for our guests to accommodate their expenses. frustrated bride to be

Hey Girls.. Wow I wish my flights were 300....Continental flights from Newark to Cancun For July 30th to July 11th are almost 500 a person. It is ridiculous. Early in August the flights came out and were at their cheapest. We shared this info with friends and family, but never purchased our ticket, bc we are STILL stuck on where we are going for our Honeymoon. My wedding is in July, but I would like to know about how much you are getting quoted for your rooms at Moon Palace. And are you getting any perks, and are you doing it sep. or through a TA? Hello. Like most, my FI and I will get legally married in the states about a few weeks before going to Mexico. The same with us, we do not want to tell our guests. Our immediate family will share in our legalized marriage! KarenM- The resort I am getting married at I believe still requires me to be there 3 days before. I might be wrong, but double or triple check with your resort and I will do the same!

This is a great thread. I will begin preparing my OOT within a few months. I pretty much have an idea as to what I want to do, but this thread gave me great ideas. I was originally planning on buying those canvas?? bags and personalizing them, or using those (not sure what they are called)....the bags that have string and you can pull the opening shut and wear it over your shoulder. I hope I explained that well! Great ideas and thank you!
