  1. Hi all I am going throught DW as well and my TA is super nice but as much as I like nice i feel fustrated, i had a contract with a quote and a huge deposit down on the hotel. two weeks later i called the hotel myself and got a quote for $75 cheaper, took like a week and a half to get the new quote in. I changed venue its took 2 weeks to do that and another to week or so to get the date and time confirmed, its HONESTLY the waiting game and my guest keep calling me well you changed the venue will she transfer our stuff i write her and its like oh yeah today i will, and yet another day passes and nothing. we are telling our guest to book flights through orbitz at this rate cause I dont know she can handle the work load with what ever else she has going on. Now she gave this some feature for booking online the rooms and not having ppl wait for her to get back to them, I was thrilled I set it up like she told me too (she didn't know how to use the website) and guess what my friends do it and errors...why advertise stuff that doesn't work. I like her i really do but I wish for more action and less me sending emails with 3 or so bullets like can this be done will this be done. and thoughts anyone?

Good luck! Thanks so much, we are a little torn between secrets and el dorado. the prices are nuts $500 a night or so. I feel for that i can go back to ny and fly to europe but we really want to stay in Mexico and make the best of it. hmm I want the nice honeymoon but feel that I am going to be in MX as is saving on flights.
  3. Hi all, can i ask you where you are planning to do your honeymoon? My guy and I are thinking it makes sense to stay in Mexico, but we are not sure what hotel to do it at, we thought the el dorado but its like $500 a night and secrets is pretty also, another thought is just staying at the paradisus for the honeymoon, can i know what you guys are doing?? Thanks Julie

There are other things included in the packages as well. I have a list of the packages and prices and what they include if you want a copy let me know. I believe you can also do it a la carte, but I don't know the prices if you do it that way right now. Hope this helps. is it possible for me to get that? that would give me an idea of what package to get, perla gave me the wedding date and time and hasn't sent me anything since. I am trying to just take a step back from it but at least an idea would be nice.

From what the other Paradisus brides have said, she gets the job done and it turns out beautifully. My wedding ceremony is at 4:30pm, but it's in mid-November. The sunsets earlier and we want to have a pre-sunset ceremony, with the sun going down during cocktail hour into dinner. Hope this helps! Brooke thanks so much that is super helpful. Hopefully she can get back to me as far as a time for the wedding i know (i googled) the sun sets between 6:45-6:58pm for the summer. I don't want a dark wedding, I'd like something 5pm or so. Hopefully she can give us this if not I dont know whats next I don't want to change the date but I would like to change the hotel. I now am in love with the Karsma hotel but have a contract with the Paradisus and I'm trying to make the best of it. Since last friday my travel agent haSbeen trying to get a hold of her. I am going to give it until this Friday before I get upset.

Awsome now if Perla can just get back to me
  10. hi all i have a serious question...if i get married (in the courts) in NY do i still have to go early to mexico to do the blood test? I am wondering if i still need to go 4 days before to do the blood test if i just have a cermony. Does anyone know? if this is the case then how early in advance do i need to get married out here before the DW
  11. i just moved my wedding from Paradisus Costa Rica to Paradisus Mexico...I need to get a hold of Perla to make sure my day is available...i loved costa rica but the flights were so expensive....Does anyone have Perla's phone number or email address. I am waiting to make sure the date is free before i tell ppl to buy flights and for what date. How far in advance did you all start really planning the wedding? Also- I know I asked this already- but I am really having trouble with the travel agent and the hotel. We wanted to get a room block through the hotel so that our room might be free- but the travel agent said he couldn't place our guests in the room block that we set up through the hotel so anyone who books through him wouldn't count towards the room block- so now I am thinking we'd rather not go with the travel agent and try to fill the room block in order to get the free room. Did anyone else also have this problem?
  12. Well thank you for everythng, but we moved our wedding to Mexico.. we loved Costa Rica but flights to Liberia are not senseible. no direct flights from NY and the flights right now are over $600...its asking too much of our friends. if its that much now we know it wont go down for next July. Flights to Mexico are $400 cheaper. Off to Paraduisus Cancun we go. Farewell Quote: Originally Posted by Ask.CostaRica Sorry about that. AutoMercado is our best grocery store chain in the country. As far as the rooming situation goes. I will do some asking and let you know.
  13. Hello thanks for the response what is AutoMercado in Tamarindo? and where is that? near hotel or on the way or by the airport? I wanted to get like a beach bag thing that says Costa Rica or pura vida and just put goodies like flip flops or a little souveniour from CR but not sure if i'll have time tofind this while i'm out there preparing for the wedding. I found some place that the travel agent gave me and they stuff is nice but EXPENSIVE like $6 for a deck of cards this can add up considering i might want 30 deck of cards plus i want to buy bottles of Guaro the CR alcholol and that iknow i want one per guest. Any thoughts on where to to get this quick and easy once i get out there? Now my travel agent is telling me that the hotel only allows 3 adults to a room not 4. that stinks because two couples i know wanted to share a room and save in cost but this is not going to be an option now. has anyone had this issue? if so any thoughts? I think I was able to upload a photo of the Gazebo so you get an idea. I was having trouble attaching. Hope this helps.
  14. OMG i love the gift idea and might might to burrow that. Now did you bring any of that with you or did you get it out there? I am guessing 25-30 guest and trying to be realistic on how much i'm carrying with me. i like the watergun and floaties idea. I was thinking of like bug spray and sunblock. I am worried about the rain but I hope its 10 minute rain and thats all. We were suppose to do Mexico but hurricanes were a concern and then with swine flu well we changed all together. I was thinking for center pieces i might not do flower arrangments cause that might save me on money and maybe fruit decoration or something. Thanks so much for all your help any tips on the hotel i should know?
  15. Hi I am getting married in CR in July 2010 but over by Liberia I was told it rains the least on that part. I hope it doesn't rain while we are there hope that helps
  16. Colby I just went to your website love it (same background as I and same hotel I"m picking) can i ask you did you get married on the beach or in the isla something gazebo? we are thinking the gazebo thing caue we don't want the sand right away on our feet. also what did you do for wedding favors we are a little stumped on that.
  17. Hi all I am a CR bride to be also July 10, 2010 at the Paradisus hotel working with DestinationWedding.com for the planning. I have only sent my STD's so far and need to get moving on other things but i'm wondering how early are you sending the invites? I did the web page and put the link to US passports on it for those who don't have one. But not sure how early in advance I should send my invites any thoughts? I am guessing right now 25-30 guest, my Travel agent was suprised and thought that to be a big group. Can I get some feedback from ppl going through this also?
  18. hi i was going to do those as invites also. question how did you do the invite itself? the paper part (i am not sure how to go about). how much are you selling for and how many do you have?
  19. HI quick question, Do we need a lawyer to get married? I have my bc as does my FH our passports but I guess we'll have to get something from city hall we haven't been married in the past but who do we submit this too? and how early before the wedding? I am a little concerned cause this is the first i'm hearing of this. the DWC hasn't mentioned anything to me. well she also hasen't emailed me back either but i guess thats a different story.
  20. Frenando, seems like you know the hotel well, and I would like to ask. I am getting married at the Paradisus July 10, 2010 I have made my deposit for the rooms and where I think the hotel is a beauty from the pictures and all the research I did. But after reading what you wrote I'm concerned my finace and I have no interest to get married on the beach but wanted the gazebo church with no walls looking thing. Is that not pretty? do you recommended another location? Also to Fernando or anyone else who is going to be there before me. What are good wedding favors? I am guessing 30 or so guest (more then what I expected) and this is just from my save the dates, I haven't sent out the invitations yet. I was thinking of hopefully arriving early enough to purchase pretty "costa rica photo alubms" if i find that and have that for everyone in a nice bag or maybe the costa rican alcholol guaro. but can I buy that from the hotel or will I need to find an outside vendor?

I would love some information as well if anyone has some. I was in Ochos Rios for my sisters wedding at the Riu and it was beautiful - I would probably get married there myself if she wasn't my TWIN! That would be a little too twin-like I think, we might as well have done a double wedding!! Anyway- it's gorgeous down there and the people are soooooo nice I couldn't believe it, the Riu is absolutely beautiful, but it is HUGE so I don't know if you'd want to go there. Good luck planning- what dates were you looking at? Janine Hi, Janine, I have put my deposit on rooms. Heres the deal i went with Destination Wedding.com and they are really nice at least my girl is Brittany. She got me a price quote of $250 a night for my guest (normally its $500). i called the hotel and got a better quote on writing for $80 cheaper so i'm trying to get the new lower price. I have held 15 rooms so far and 6 are booked so I have 9 more rooms for my guest to book and then it might jump up in price. I didn't think so many people would want to go. now I was told that after 20 people all the wedding packages they have are $85 a person for reception. I hope that helps. thats all i have gotten I am waitnig for the DWC to write me back she isn't great at that. she sent me like 6 emails once and never wrote back again. I have sent her 3 already in two weeks. not sure her deal but my DW travel agent told me she's going to call her and put her in check. Hope that helps
  22. Hi is anyone still writing to this? I am a Paradisus bride for July 10, 2010 and I am wondering if theres anyone else out there. if so can we talk
  23. Hi after reading all of this I think I found my thread. I was sure I was doing my wedding in mexico but with the swine flu situation I have now considered amazing costa rica my TA sent me info on this hotel Paradisus Playa Conchal. its amazing but I wonder if it'll be more money flying and has anyone had a wedding yet so far? if so can i see pics? thanks a million
  24. Hi, Map great pictures!! My TA told me to hold off until June to see what happens with Mexico, i guess to see if we should move our wedding to another location. I know this girl who moved her (it was a May wedding for this year) to Costa Rica. Now I'm wondering should I just do that now. Poor Mexico is getting such a bad reputation. Not sure what to do but i'm more nervous because I was hoping to send my saved the dates but I was giong to put "destination wedding, hotel name or at least cancun Mexico" but now i can't send saved the dates I dont even know if i have a location.. headache
