Hey Josh - Is the Steakhouse terrace the same at the Elegance? Please let me know when you have photos up! A bride on a facebook group mentioned that they allowed her to do the option of the free dinner and then just rent the terrace of the restaurant for dancing, cake cutting, etc. Have you seen this there?

Erin - how did you pay the rest of the balance? Did you have to do the same thing? I just thought it was a little weird in this day and age of credit cards.

Did anyone do the wire transfer they require? I've never done that before and honestly a little nervous about it...

Has anyone gone directly to the embassy in NYC to get theirs legalized? How much did all the translation, etc. come out to be total? I also heard it takes up to 2 months to get back your marriage certificate from the resort... has anyone run into this?

Hi Christina! If you join the Facebook group, Majestic Colonial Brides, there is TONS of pics and info on there. I've read that many people have had the "included" dinner at one of the restaurants and it's felt private because they sectioned off the table with some plants. I've also seen pictures of how they've decorated it, and it's very pretty, and included! For the "private" dinner for the group at one of the bars, beach, pool etc. it came out to be close to $70 with the tax per person. I couldn't justify spending all this money on the same food you could get in the restaurants (plus it's all-inclusive!). What we're doing after dinner though, is renting the Parrot Bar, which is outside, for $300 for setup plus $150 for the sound system. There we will do our cake cutting, and hook up our ipod to dance! There's an open bar option, but there's a bar within a few feet our TA said, so we'll just have people walk to get drinks since teh open bar was fairly expensive.

I've been working with their wedding planner, Sandra for the past few months. She's very nice and helpful, and says the Elegance will be a step above the Colonial. The Colonial already has a stellar reputation, so I'm hoping the same will go for the Elegance. There's a photographer who is going to be taking photos of the property towards the end of the month, so I can let you know once I get those!

Does anyone know how to go about getting these translations?? I don't even know what a declaration of single status is...?? It's required for a civil ceremony at the Majestic Elegance. Do all resorts require this? Photocopy of birth certificate and translation into Spanish Photocopy of passport of the couple and of the witnesses * Declaration of single status, translated into Spanish and notarized Original divorce decree translated into Spanish and legalized Documents need to be translated and legalized by the Dominican embassy, *Passports don’t need to be legalized or translated. Just copy of them are needed Please help! Thank you!

My TA got us a wedding date of 8-8-09 at the Elegance! I'm so excited!

Do you know if it's possible for your "official" wedding date to be the day you get married in Punta Cana if it's only a civil ceremony??

I am looking at either the Colonial or Elegance... on their website I couldn't find prices yet for rooms at the Elegance. Is it a huge price difference between that and the Colonial?

Has anyone booked Dreams La Romana for a wedding yet? I'm a little nervous about booking something that hasn't opened officially yet!! The prices are sooo reasonable right now though!

Hi girls!! I'm still trying to decide when to have the wedding... does anyone know if someone already has memorial day weekend dates in '09? (23-24?). I sent an email to Dreams a few days ago but don't expect to hear back soon. Do you think it'd be better to go to a TA from AAA or elsewhere to get faster results and group discounts?? -Stef
