I'm almost 5'1", so my dress is getting cut- I'm wearing 3" heels no matter what (I bought some Nomad flip flops that are nice and tall (Nomad Kiki Wedge - Teal - Free Shipping & Return Shipping). I'm planning to wear a chapel or cathedral length veil- I love the look and when I tried them on at the store, they didn't make me look really short or anything. Of course, my dress is really simple as well, so there isn't much to swallow me up:). Yay for other short brides! It seems like all you see are glittering Amazons, and I just don't fit that look!

I should have just done that, but now she'll be LOOKING for some way to know if we cheated and did that, and if she realizes it, then all hell will break loose on my wedding day and I DO NOT want that. I'm hoping that, due to the crappy economy, she'll start to feel bad about making me spend the extra $750 to get married down there and change her mind. *sigh* gotta love families!

Yikes! I wasn't thinking about spending that much... Maybe we'll just go with whatever they normally have in the restaurant and just go to Gran Azul afterwards and request some songs. I think I'll leave my playlist-making for the cocktail hour and for the AHR we're going to have! I'm already spending the extra $$ to have the legal ceremony there (due to my mother throwing a fit about us getting legally married beforehand and then 'pretending' to do it for real at the resort- it was a great discussion), so I'm not wanting to spend too much on 'little' extras like music during dinner!

I know that the Catalonia Riviera Maya has a really affordable symbolic ceremony (as in, less than $500) that you could do. The resort is not rated at 5 stars, but Morgan (search for her name- she has TONS of phenomenal posts on here!) had her wedding there and she really seemed to have loved the resort. You could always get married there then move to a 'fancier' resort (depends on what you are looking for) for your honeymoon, if you want! Good luck!

I'm seeing different sunset times for late May in the Riviera Maya, and I want to know what it really is! I have seen anything from 7:21 to 8:39, and I just want it cleared up! We'd like some sunset shots, but I don't know how long we can get our photogs to stay, so I'm hoping for the 7 pm time:) Anyone know?

I purchased this gown from a former bride, and then was given the chance to buy my dream dress for a great price, so this dress is back on the market. The dress is a size 6 and has been altered by the previous owner to fit someone who is 5'4" (I believe that was what she said). If you are interested, I can definitely verify the length in front for you. This is the only alteration that has been done. The dress has been worn once for 3 hours (for the former bride's wedding) and once for 10 minutes to take the pictures you see above! Would be a gorgeous destination wedding gown, or could also be a TTD gown for someone! I'm asking $150 plus shipping. Thanks!

From what I've heard, they are pretty set on the locations. We are doing the gazebo thing on the White Sands end because FI liked the look of it better, and I loved both. Plus, this way I get to wear heels and not worry about sinking into the sand. From what I've read on palladiumaddict.net, the Kantenah part of the beach is really quiet compared to some of the other parts, so even being right next to the snack bar, it might still be a quiet place to get married!

I'm soo thrilled! I was so proud of our country today when it was announced- we've come a long way in the last several decades! I also gained some respect for McCain for bowing out gracefully- it does take courage to know, and admit, when you are beaten. A graceful concession is something that I think was needed for people from both sides of the election!

I'm wanting to start getting my skin 'prettier' for the wedding (about 200 days out!). Any recommendations on skin care products to even out skin, reduce undereye circles, minimize pores and decrease wrinkles? I just want to get a couple different creams and possibly do a skin treatment or 2 that will actually help! There are so many choices out there that my head is starting to spin. I'm a more low-key kinda girl, so I'm having trouble telling the difference between all these products. Thanks ladies!

I voted Obama. I agree with him on nearly everything- economic, education, the war in Iraq, and basically all social issues. I feel that McCain may have been a good person originally, but he has twisted his beliefs to appeal to a wider conservative base and I wouldn't trust him any more after all of his flip-flopping. I just think Obama will be a more positive leader in the world stage for America. Also- I'm an Obama fan in Aggieland (Texas), and yeah... I wish the votes were going closer. One day I hope Texas will be even leaning slightly towards my type of candidates:) Its nice to know there are other Texans who support Obama!

I would definitely mention the proximity to all the amazing Mayan ruins (Coba and Tulum are closest), the parks (Xel-Ha and XCaret), and all the amenities offered on site (non-motorized water sports, pottery painting, 1.5 miles of private beach. To finish the sentence above, I'd put 'and preserving the natural ecosystem of the Mayan Riviera coastline.'. Congrats on choosing the GP!

Eeks! We are having a really small wedding- our budget is around $7500, including our honeymoon (the week at the resort for the wedding). Of course, we aren't getting a lot of extras, and we are planning on no more than 40 people, so... that keeps our costs down quite a bit! We want to buy a house after the wedding, so we are scrimping for that, plus FI doesn't get the point of spending too much on the wedding (if it was up to him, we'd go to the JP tomorrow and be done with it!), so getting the budget up to $7500 has been a challenge!
