  1. We aren't doing the room block- its a good deal, but you have to pay a down payment for each room and then coordinate your guests paying through you. Plus, for a group rate, they require you get 15 rooms- we don't know if we'll have that many people coming, so we couldn't commit to that! If you have enough people- a group rate gives a GREAT deal!
  2. Jennifer- Rocio told me that it was 5:30, 6 and 6:30 pm as the possible start times for the restaurant reception. For the dinner in a restaurant- you only get the 2 hours that she books you for- if you run late, I think you just have to leave at the original ending time. I think that they put each wedding group in a different restaurant for the wedding dinner- Rocio asked me to let her know which restaurant we wanted, and our wedding isn't for another 7 months, so I think its on first come, first served basis.
  3. Oops! I'm flexible on the price (I got the dress on a good sale), but I'd like to get $150 for it. I can't believe I forgot to post that!
  4. Oops! I meant to link a couple pictures in there! These are a couple pictures of the gown. The dress is too big for me, so pictures of it on me wouldn't do it much justice! http://tinyurl.com/46od82 http://tinyurl.com/4kk4ds If you are interested, please PM me on here and I'll get back to you ASAP!
  5. I have a size 8 empire-waist Pronovias gown for sale. I purchased on sale as a TTD, but I'm now just wanting to wear my actual dress, so this lovely dress is up for grabs! Its a gorgeous chiffon gown with a portrait neckline. It is ruched over the bodice and the bodice is decorated with bugle beads It has a gorgeous chapel length train that would look great in pictures (part of why I bought it to begin with!). The dress is very light, and should be very comfortable for a beach wedding. No alterations have been done to the dress. It was supposedly used as a sample gown at a bridal salon, but it doesn't look like it was! The seller told me it was a size 8, but there is no tag that says it (there is a Pronovias tag in it!). The bust (measured underneath the arms) is 36", the narrowest part (the empire waist) is 30", and where my hips would hit (I'm short, so this may not be the exact spot where they measure hips) was about 40"?
  6. Awesome! Tamm is really going to become an expert on the GP by the time she is done with our 3 weddings! I'm so excited to see the pictures and reviews from your weddings!
  7. Wow! They look great! You've given me a couple ideas on what to do for my invitations, and your posting the templates is going to be a lot of help to future brides:)
  8. Wow! Jennifer- if you book with Tamm, she'll be a pro at this resort by the time my wedding rolls around! I'm looking forward to hearing from all of you GP brides that are going before me- its awesome that interest in this resort for weddings has increased on this board! Tamm actually did a wedding a couple years ago at the GP, and I contacted that bride for a reference and she gave rave reviews of both Tamm and Grand AND of the resort, so I'm sure we'll all have wonderful weddings down there!
  9. I'm really excited- we just booked our photographer! Tara- after you posted info about Tamm's Photos, I went to the site, and I loved her and Grant's work, and the price they quoted us was fantastic for the quality, so... we have booked them as well! I'm actually really excited to work with them because by my wedding they will have been down to the Palladium for your wedding already, and so may be a bit more familiar with the resort for pictures for me and my FI! Thank you so much for mentioning them- I'm so happy to have them booked!!
  10. Tara got you all taken care of, but I just wanted to add that I'm getting married there as well. For the packages, I think there is some room for customization in them, but you just have to deal with Rocio (the coordinator) to see what changes can be made. Good luck!
  11. I love the first shoes! They are fun, flirty, and I think they'd be a great addition to your AHR attire!
  12. I don't know about the Azul resorts, but the resort we're getting married at has its own reverse osmosis filtering system for the entire resort. That means that all the water, from the showers, to the taps to the water in the kitchens, is safe for American stomachs to drink. If your resort doesn't have that, then follow the advice above- drink only bottled beverages, don't eat food that may have 'contaminated' water in it, and just overall be careful. Check about the water system at your resort though- it would probably really help your guests feel more comfortable!
  13. You might try a resort a little south of Playa del Carmen- from what I've heard, if you can get a bit farther from Cancun, then you have a higher likelihood of getting away from the party kids. Also, and as much as this might suck, if you look at a more expensive resort, as well as smaller ones (I'm thinking Azul resorts, etc), then its less likely that spring breakers will be at those. We considered spring break time for the same reasons (family availability) and discounted it for the worry of spring breakers. Instead we decided to go right after everyone gets out of classes (except for some of the younger kids, but their parents are taking them out of school a couple extra days around Mem. Day). Good luck!
  14. For those of you who are just having a section of one of the restaurants sectioned off- has Rocio told you what time you can do that at? I have asked her twice, but she keeps responding with 'yes, your wedding is confirmed for 2pm'. Well... that doesn't answer my question regarding when our dinner reservation starts!!! Anyway, any info would be helpful!
  15. mexicobride- I was wondering if you have a phone number for Tamm's photos? I went to the site you posted and I LOVE their work! It would be a plus that since she'd have already done your wedding, she'd know the resort a little better. I emailed a few days ago, and I know they may be busy with weddings, but if you have a phone number I'd like to contact them with a follow-up. Thanks in advance!
  16. I've been a really trying to find a place that rented out horses for something like this. I have 2 of my own, and I can't imagine NOT having horses tied into the wedding pictures somehow! Can you tell me where it was that you went for your TTD that let you rent horses for them? All your pictures are so gorgeous!!
  17. Ashley- if you look in Sol and Matt's wedding slideshow that is sticky posted, the GP is one of the options. There is one bride there that was married at the garden gazebo. Its more of a garden setting, and I'm probably going for the ocean gazebo, but it looks like a gorgeous location for a wedding!
  18. I got my dress in the mail (another eBay dress bride), and I LOVE her! She (yup, my dress has a gender) is Sophia Tolli, Monica. Makes me feel like a princess! Wedding dresses and designer bridal gowns by Sophia Tolli - View the Collection
  19. I have a size 6 Maggie Sottero Mariella dress for sale. It isn't binding at all, and I think it would be great for TTD- its a gorgeous gown, but I had a chance to buy my dream gown after I got this one, and I had to go for it! The measurements are bust- 34.5, waist 26.5 and hips 37. I can't remember how to include pictures, but if you are interested, PM me with your email address and I can send you a few.
  20. I'm jealous of you ladies with higher budgets- my FI would flip if we went over $7K on ours I think we are staying under that pretty well). We are not including our attire in the cost, mainly b/c we have already paid for it all and my parents bought my dress, but I am including the cost on here, just to help other brides. Bridal attire- will be under $500 for everything Grooms attire- $200 Ceremony and reception- $2300 Cocktail hour- $560 Photographer- $1495 for 2 photogs for 5 hours, plus a TTD session Airfare and room for 7 nights- $2500 OOT bags- $150 Invites- less than $50 (DIY) Hopefully nothing else crops up- we are pretty good on our budget right now!
  21. Welcome to the site! I would have loved to get married in Paris, but it just wasn't to be- I still love the city though!
  22. I don't know much about either resort, but I do have 3 different acquaintances from high school who honeymooned at the El Dorado resorts, and they all raved about them. Everything from the food to the beach to the room quality, they loved. I'm sure Secrets will be great as well, but I've heard amazing reviews of El Dorado resorts.
  23. I'm just starting to get supplies ordered to make my boarding pass invites- I want to get them sent out sometime in October, but... who knows if that will happen. I guess November will be good enough!! I just need to get moving on stuff- this thread shows me just how much I DON"T have even started that I need to get moving on!
  24. Wow- she has never mentioned the 25 person requirement to me at all! I'm hoping we get that many! If you don't have 25 people, and you really want to have a cocktail hour, you could see if she would be ok with you paying for 20 people for the cocktail hour, and then just having however many you have show up. Jennifer has a good idea though- you could do a group excursion- there are companies that do 'booze cruises' around that you might be able to hire for a floating cocktail hour! Good luck!
