  1. Those pictures are beautiful! Your dress is so pretty! The kayakers make it that much more fun!
  2. Yes, we are doing that as well. I did not want to fuss with the blood tests and people being there x-amount of days before the ceremony. We will still consider the Mexico Ceremony as our official wedding day. By the way...this is the email I got two weeks ago: Dear Bride & Groom As the great day is approaching I may need to ask you to fill out this planning form in order to start and set up details for your wedding. Find attached the pictures options of the flowers and wedding cake options too. Thanks a lot in advance for sending this planning form filled out before September 8th 2008. WEDDING PLANNING FORM.doc
  3. Hi Ladies! Here is a pic of my dress but now I kind of wish I would have gotten a big poofy princess dress. Maybe I will buy another one and wear one to the ceremony and one to the reception... David's Bridal - Bridal Gowns VW9340 Beaded lace trumpet with godet inserts at skirt hem and charmeuse sash. For those that are doing legal marraiges at home, are you wearing anything special?

Hi Trisha, I got an email from Lizet asking for the wedding planning guide to be sent in by today, 09/08. Did you not get that? I know that Landy is on vacation until the 18th so I have been sending emails to Lizet. Please let me know if you need the guide and I will be happy to forward yout the email I got from them. Send me your email address through a PM. Almost there! My heart will not stop beating. I bet you are the same way! Also, for "interim music" I am planning on doing instrumental beach/water songs....Sea of Love, Under the Boardwalk, Beyond the Sea, Somewhere over the Rainbow....
  5. Hi! We got engaged in January of this year. Looks like my mine is the shortest engagement 9 months. I sometimes wish we would have held off so I could have planned the wedding better and so people could have saved more money but I guess too late. We will have a good time!

Ugh, I am at the point that I'm throwing my hands up in the air. I am going to tell my WC to sit them in the back. Ha! That is what I love about us big latin families! There is always an extra tia, primo or neighbor and their dog that end up coming to the party! This is one of the biggest reasons I decided to have the wedding in Mexico....This cuts back the wedding from 200 ppl down to 30ppl....perfect!
  7. I am so glad that I have read all these posts. I thought I was the only one who was waiting last minute to ship OOT stuff, (now I am having second thougts) and compiling a music list. Now you all have me even more nervous and I still have 1 1/2 months left! Legal marraige next week....heart is thumping. Oh, and can you believe my FH's friend has just emailed me to tell me he is bringing an extra person! Dang! RSVP deadline was over a month ago! What can I say but "sure, no problem". I guess the more the merrier!

I did not know that there was a thread for Ocotber brides. I was wondering where did you get that hair flower? I would like to order one for the reception. Also, what is ETSEY? Sorry not up to speed with all the acronyms yet. Thanks for the help!
  9. Hi Maria, First, welcome! You are so right...never too early to start planning. Before you know it, you have 2 months left and still have a long list of stuff you have not done! I would recommend looking at several different locations. Don't pick one right away. Speak to a experience destination wedding travel agent (TA) and they can help you find a place that suits you. For example, Dreams Tulum was good for me because we can bring kids to the resort (neices and nephews) and it is a more family-oriented place. You may want a more party type singles atmosphere which then I would recommend Playa del Carmen or Cancun. Take your time and have fun!
  10. Welcome! If you have questions...this forum has answers!

Not to discourage you, because I would love for you to be DT bride, but keep an open mind, By the way ladies, I recently realized I'm getting married on Cinco de Mayo!!! Has anyone been to DT during this time? What kind of activities do they offer to celebrate. I think it would be awesome if there were fireworks that night that my guests could enjoy. I'm going to try and add my pic soon. Hi! If you go to the Dreams Website, under Entertainment, Special Events, you will see a list of Holidays that are celebrated at the Resort... Cinco De Mayo: "You will enjoy a complete day and evening of Mexican hospitality, traditional music, games, bright decorations, exciting games and live entertainment. The day will be topped off with a starlight barbeque dinner on the beach including a traditional Mexican celebration which features lots of Tequila of course! Lucky You!
  12. I am not sure how to create a new thread in the General Forum but I am having some trouble coming up with a song list. I am more of a classic rock kind of gal but it is a little hard to dance to Led Zeppelin, therefore... Can you ladies please post or PM to me your favorite dance songs? This would help a lot! Thanks!
  13. Okay, sorry about the late response. I got so excited when I read the first page that I started typing away. K- I think your response was great. Have a great and happy wedding!
  14. OMG...It's because of things like this that I decided to get married a thousand miles away from my family, that way only a few could come. Kaylee, I am so sorry that you are going throuhg this. I would go with what Erin B said. In regards to inviting your SIL to your civil wedding....don't do it you will just be angry/stressed the entire time and if she is anything like my mother, she will find a way to make it about herself. My mom and my FH's mom are both not coming to our wedding but hey, there will be others there that care about the two of you and that is what you should focus on. Remember, you and Doug are starting your own family, nothing else matters!

Oh, and of course, welcome to our new member "marryingmybestfriend". Hope everything works out for you! Hi, Sounds good but what is an avatar picture and how do I create one? Also, what can I do to become a full member? Thanks!

Or is it more laid back and the servers just ask the guests what they want at the tables? Please let me know. Thanks! Tiffany, Hi, have you checked with Landy or Lizet if your guests can choose options? From what Landy told me, we (bride and groom) have to choose one dish from each section (app, soup, salad, entree, dessert). Our choice will be what everyone gets with the exception of any vegetarians. Sunbride, As always, thank you for your advice about the timing. Sounds like what I have will work out fine!

I am totally worried about the hotel photographer not getting the pictures that I want, does anyone have suggestions on a reasonable outside photographer? I am very excited though, I ordered my flower girl basket and ring pillow, and also our favors. More things to check off the list! Hi Melissa! Regarding the DJ...I was going to also have a DJ but I just don't think it will be worth hiring a DJ for just 30 people. Also, the hotel DJ does not MC. So we decided we are just going to bring our iPod. This way we can still dance and if we decide to have a bonfire or go to the disco, don't need to worry about the DJ. Aslo, where did you order your flower girl basket from? Thanks!
  19. Hello all, For those ladies who are having Oct and Nov weddings, what is your timeline for the day of the wedding? I am having a 4:30 ceremony so that we can do dinner at sunset but I am wondering if that might be too late. Any suggestions?

I have to have some details confirmed with her so I can get the information to be printed for menus, programs, ect. Has anyone tried calling them before? Does it help to get answers or no? I have to admit that we are starting to regret our decision of choosing Dreams Tulum. So far we have found the wedding coordinators to be unhelpful. I imagine they must be very busy ladies, but as I am leaving to go on vacation for a couple of weeks before the wedding I only have about a month to finish all the planning. Any suggestions?? Also, here is my info, I dont think I gave it when I first joined. Username: Mono Amor Names (optional, first names only): Leanne Date & Time: November 13, 2008, 4:00 Wedding package: Ultimate Wedding extras (and cost charged): Bonfire Afterparty ($40), Firedancers ($250 for 15 mins), Pinata ($40)...so far Type of ceremony: Religious Coordinator: Landy Number of guests: 35 confirmed, more RSVPs to come Ceremony location: Chapel, but since we have about 40 guests we may have to switch to the front staircase location (not as private) Reception location: Ballroom Photographer: Resort Videographer: Resort Special arrangements / activities: Deep-sea fishing (guys outing), Playa del Carmen (girls shopping trip), trip to Cancun for bachelor/bachlorette parties. Lastly, does anyone have any good pictures of the smaller ballrooms? Im just trying to get an idea of what Im working with. Thanks!!!!!! Hi, Landy has been a little hard to get a hold of lately, I agree. Her last email reply took about 9 days. But with the advice from all the gals here, I know that a lot of decisions will be made when I get there and I will just go with the flow. You should send another email, let her know you are going on vacation and then ask her to set up a phone conference with you. It is usually more helpful to just speak to her in person. Good Luck!
  21. Hi Ashley, My wedding is in 2 months and there is nothing more that I wish I would have done than to change my TA. I cannot even begin to list the problems I had with her. I recommend using a TA from this site. They know the deal and have experience in DW. Wish I would have found this site a lot sooner! Good luck planning!
  22. Question/Advice: Makeup! I wear very Bare Escentuals everyday and have not planned to have anything special for the wedding. A friend of mine said I should think about buying heavier makeup for pictures such as Mac. It seems like a waste of money to buy makeup for the one day. Also, if I decided to let the resort do my makeup how does that work? Did anyone get their makeup done by the salon ? Do they use their makeup or yours? What brand is theirs? Thanks gals!
  23. Tiffany, Thanks for your post, you have actually made me feel better about keeping the resort photographer. I'm sure everything will come out great. Brooke, That sounds great, thanks! I have 30 ppl coming. Also, if anyone needs to buy sun parasols, I bought some at Party supplies, crafts, party decorations, toys: Oriental Trading. 3 for $15 plus S&H. Or if you live close to San Franciso, you can find some in China Town for about $4 each.
