  1. Don't feel behind! You are booking just fine -- most stateside weddings are planned 6-12 months in advance... so you are right on target. I say that as I'm booking 1.5 years in advance... man, I wish I could do it next May, I just can't afford it. I envy you! Happy planning!
  2. Interesting! I will have to check that out! I decided I'm going to do two TTD sessions -- one in Cancun and one here in Seattle amongst some waterfalls. I've been going through blogs and photo galleries and grabbing ideas about things I love. I think it would be fun to learn how to do it -- I don't think I'd ever want to do it professionally. I'm much more in to design than I am in to snapping pictures. I can't wait to see how your photos turn out Morgan! You have a great eye from what I can see in your collages and photo books.
  3. Yeah... Matt and Sol's pictures are beautiful... and that's what got me originally thinking "how does that work?" ...But then... I started seeing other photographers that do it. It is way cool!
  4. That makes a lot of sense. I like tinkering with pictures... I'm not so sure I'd like taking them. I wonder if that is a legitimate business "you take the pictures, I'll edit them." Off to google to see what i find...
  5. Oh. Wow. That helps put things in perspective. Some of these photographers charge like $10,000-$15,000 dollars for a one day shoot and I couldn't figure out why... so I'm guessing there had to have been some sort of after work done. Thanks!
  6. Wow. I'm not sure what to say to that...but good for her, calling him to be responsbile for his actions. I think we live in a culture where it is perfectly acceptable to not be responsible... and people get hurt.
  7. Hey There, So I've lately become obsessed with looking over some of the more fine art style of images... and while I have no concept of how it all works, I find myself wondering if a lot of the "effects" of a picture are done afterwards in photoshop. Take for example ... shots that I've seen in caves or against textured walls... There are blues and reds -- colors that wouldn't naturally be there. Do you use special lighting to get that affect or do you snap the pictures and then add in the colored lighting through photoshop? Or how about the pictures that seem to bend... fishtail I think it is called? Is that a special lens or is that done afterwards? I've also seen pictures that look like they had been aged so to speak... I guess what I am trying to figure out is... how much of the work of producing those really cool images is done at the time of the shoot and how much is done after the shoot is over?

  9. I tend to say "give people the most information possible to make a good choice." I may be alone in saying I don't think you have too much info. I see my STDs as a way to say "this is what we are doing and this is what you need to do to come." and my invites as a formal reminder/keepsake for those who are not coming. I'll post all the information on my website, but chances are, people aren't going to read my site top to bottom to get everything they need. If you want to cut some stuff out, the passports/vaccinations can be taken out -- that would be excellent to include in a wedding newsletter. You could also try and combine the accomadations in to 1 page and include hotel rates/TA information. If I got an STD to a DW, I'd want more information that not...
  10. Sweet! By my count we are up to 10 dollars out of 8 million. Anyone else want in?
  11. The only thing I'm super concerned about.... (its not the fact that I need 8 million dollars) ... but how do you get internet on an island in Greece? I'd need to be able to get on BDW!
  12. Hee hee. I can imagine what the look on my face would be if I opened one!! Let me know if you get the island... I mean. Maybe we could be sister islands or something like that or heck... I'll hook my FI up with your DH... and we could buy the same island... then I don't have to be lonely!
  13. Maybe he is saving up to buy you a BMW horse trailer and a diamond encrusted saddle for your pony?

See I get that way too... except with things like spreadsheet formulas. I'm a geek. I'll stay up all night creating a cool spreadsheet.
  15. So I sent the island to FI to investigate. "Oh. That's nice. I bet we could build villas in the hills... oh, that's very nice. How much is it?" "8 million dollars" "That's not bad at all" ... never in a million years did I picture having a conversation that said "yeah, 8 million dollars is nothing" Aye!
  16. So my FI and I have this longstaning joke that he is going to buy me a lake. I'm not exactly sure how that happened... but we just know he is going to buy me one someday. Well, after seeing Momma Mia this weekend... I decided I would MUCH rather have a private island in Greece. How beautiful!!! We decided to buy an island, build a couple of villas and specialize in destination weddings. Any takers? Shoot... now I just need 8 million dollars to buy this one... Nafsika Island, Greece, Europe Do you and your FI have any grand plans? LOL. Even if they are a bit impractical?

  18. Whew! Who needs boudoir shots before the wedding when you can have a TTDB session after
  19. I'm going to have my FI buy me not just a sewing machine... but an embroidery sewing machine... there is so much automated stuff it can do... CRAZY! I have a year and a half until my wedding and in that time I need to learn to sew because I am going to make my own cloth napkins (and embroider our monogram on them), my own table runners, and my own chair sashes. I want a tri-color looking thing... so buying them gets expensive quick. I'm also going to make those towel things and whatever else I can come up with. Maybe placemats -- cause I orignally wanted pink charger plates but couldnt find any...
