  1. Me too, I was able to reserve my wedding day before I booked the trip. The way I see it, why would you choose a resort without knowing if they can accomodate you on the date and location of your ceremony? There was probably about a 2 week gap between me speaking with Paloma and my TA sending her my booking info. Good Luck!
  2. A question for those who have been there. I understand that there is internet access that is quite expensive in the hacienda. Does anyone know anything about wireless in the rooms? (As I typed that I realize that its a longshot!!) There are computers in the diamond club, or whatever the premium area is called, right? My sister is freaking out because she's teaching an online course and needs to be able to access her email daily. Anyone know anything?? Do we get upgraded because we're getting married there? I'm wondering if I can pass on my internet privileges to her if we do get access to the club section...
  3. I just got a confirmation from Jazmin that isn't really a confirmation! All along, I've been told by Paloma and Jazmin that I HAVE to have my ceremony at 2pm. No other options. I've requested the beach from the beginning and have been told thats fine. Now Jazmin says that they can't confirm availability till you get there. ?!?!? Anyone know which availability? Location or time? I'm working on my welcome brochure right now and had planned on putting both location and time in there. Aargh!
  4. Oooo! I LOVE the suggestions!! I 'm leaning towards the tropcal colours. Gorgeous! Thank you so much for your ideas ladies!! The orchids with the birds of paradise are beautiful too!!
  5. The decisions never cease!! I need to choose my flowers now and I have no idea about colour... Or style of bouquet. All I know is that none of the choices my WC sent to me jump out at me. Anyway... My dress is a little knee length casual white sundress, my BMs are wearing chocolate brown linen with turquoise necklaces, the GMs are wearing chocolate brown linen pants with white shirts. Lots of brown and white. I feel like I really need a "punch" of colour, but what? I had thought that maybe I could go with more turquoise to match the necklaces, but I guess blue isn't really a natural colour for too many flowers!! I also love pink and coral, but I've been warned not to have too many colours. I guess I just want something natural and casual... Any ideas from any of you who are good with colours Thanks!
  6. How long are you going to go for? I'm wondering if the 2 hour dinner plus one hour of drinks is enough? Or should we spring for 2 hours of drinks. I wonder if you could do 1 hour before dinner and one hour after. I have no idea what to do! Our ceremony is at 2 pm. So photos should be done by 4, easily, right? 5 seems early for dinner to me, but if we could do cocktails till 6 and dinner 6 to 8 and then dancing with cocktails 8 to 9. But I also really like the idea of doing "cocktails" (for free!!! right) in the lobby bar. What is/was your timelines? Its getting so close to crunch time and I'm starting to get stressed!!!
  7. So everyone was right about Jazmin being totally on top of things as your date approaches. I'm receiving lots of emails - and there's so much for me to do! For the ladies who are having/had the private dinner, I'm now thinking of doing this option based on RyanAmanda's review and the photos that Jazmin sent me. It looks amazing! I've asked Jazmin, but I'm not sure how clear I was. Here is my question: Do you know how the pricing structure works for the private dinner? As in, you pay per person for the dinner, but how many hours does this include? Do you pay separately for the bar after dinner (as in the $8 per person for 2 hours) or is the bar included in the dinner price? I guess you also have to add in the fee for the DJ for all the hours you are occupying the space. Am I making sense? JKCZ - I don't know about table numbers, but Jazmin said I may want to bring my own place cards, so maybe you should count on bringing your own table numbers, just to be sure you have them.
  8. Yay! I heard back from Jazmin, and she has not given away my date. Apparently they were having email problems or something like that down there. So anyway, I'm a happy girl now!!
  9. JennyFTB- I hope you got your answer by now, but it has been confirmed to me by Jazmin that all we need are our passports and tourist card. So strange that she's making you jump through these hoops if your name matches the name on your passport. Jazmin just sent me the list of civil wedding packages to choose from and it clearly states on there what you need to bring. I'm sure you have a copy of it, but if you don't I can send it to you via email. Just pm me! Let me know what happens...
  10. Jenny FTB - This is what I got from my TA who got it from Paloma: Valid passports. In case the bride’s name is not the same in her passport than in her birth certificate and she wants to get married with the same name of her birth certificate she should bring her birth certificate (original) apostilled by the government of her country and translated into Spanish by a Mexican official translator (stamped). Driver license will not be accepted by the official. If the bride is widowed or divorced is necessary to bring her birth certificate (original) apostilled by the government of her country and translated into Spanish by a Mexican official translator (stamped). If the groom is widowed or divorced no additional documents are required. I've been trying to get in touch with Jazmin for a couple of weeks now, to no avail. I'm sort of starting to freak out because if we have to order these birth certificates and get them apostilled, then we're running out of time. And I will be very upset if we do go through that process and it turns out we didn't need them. Anyway, from what I understand the only way you need your birth certificate for bp tulum is if you have a different name than what is in your passport or if you are widowed or divorced. I am VERY confused!
  11. Thanks! I've been copying Paloma on everything I send to Jazmin. So I guess when I actually think about it, you're right, its not like they would just give the day away without actually confirming with me that I want to cancel. I guess I need to calm down a little, but it would be really nice to hear back from either of those two!!
  12. You guys - I still haven't heard back from Jazmin regarding us not wanting to cancel! She emailed me on Nov 26 to see if we wanted to and I've emailed her back a couple of times saying NO. Arrgh! I've just pulled out the big guns and asked the TA to contact her for us. She wouldn't just give the date away.... Right? I'm getting pretty nervous here!
  13. My fiance and I just got back from the Mayan and we felt completely safe the whole time. We bussed around between towns and never payed more than 40 dollars per night for accomodation. We ate in a few seedy (but delicious!!) places and walked around at night. Never had a problem. I say use your common sense and listen to your intuition!
  14. Exactly what I was thinking!! I still haven't heard back from her yet... Its funny, I wasn't contacting her because I thought I could just relax, all the planning would be done when we got there... I'm a little worried, but I can't see them giving away the date either, especially when our group is still booked at the hotel...
  15. Thanks for your ideas... I guess it wouldn't be so bad if we had an uneven number. I like the special flower idea, maybe for the groom boutonniere. Thank you!
  16. I'm sure that this has happened to someone here who can help me out, or even if it hasn't, maybe you have an idea of what we could do... My fi and I each have two attendants. In a tragic accident, one of his groomsmen, along with his wife, passed away last week. I have no idea what to do. People have started asking him what he's going to do, who he'll have stand up with him (which is making him more upset). I've told him that there's no rush, he can decide what he wants - either to ask someone else (there is a slim possibility that the groomsman's brother may fill in, which I think is totally fitting) or to leave the position open, in memorial. I don't know. My problem is that I don't know if a wedding should turn into a memorial (I hope I don't sound horrible saying this, I miss this man and his wife with all my heart, and our wedding and our lives will NOT be the same without them). I just sort of feel that this is supposed to be our day, and although we can remember them and pay tribute to them, I'm not sure I want an uneven amount (especially when its 2 on my side and 1 on his) of attendants. Thoughts? Advice? I appreciate anything...
  17. Ok, this is wierd... I just got an email from Jazmin asking if the wedding plans are fine or if we want to cancel. She sent it Nov 26. We've had some major stuff going on and I was finally able to reply to her last night! I'm sort of freaking out that she might give our date away... aack!!
  18. Oh no! We just go our mugs from them and our logo is much smaller than we expected it to be too. Also, we have a circle around our logo, and on the mugs it came out shaped a little wonky. We've contacted them with photos and our complaints and haven't heard back from them yet! I guess we'll have to lean on them a little bit. But now I've checked out the other thread about the printing rubbing off, and now I'm really worried... I wish it weren't fall and yucky and rainy here because I would do a test. I definitely want to return them if the logos don't stay on...
  19. We're booked to have our reception dinner at the Tequila too. For those who have eaten the fajitas, were they messy/drippy? I vetoed them because I had visions of the groomsmen in their nice bright white shirts ending up with fajita juice down the front... (ok, maybe being a little controlling) We were thinking of the Grilled Marinated Arrachera - has anyone here tried it? We will also be asking for a vegetarian option as I and a few of the guests don't eat meat. I wonder what they'll come up with for that?
  20. Amanda- Great review! Every time I read something positive about the resort, it really calms me down for a few days!! You look beautiful in the photos - the hair too... Now I'm thinking that maybe I should be having an outdoor dinner reception. They really went all out in the decorations, eh? Wow. It looks like you had so much fun. I can't wait!!
  21. Now that cheaptotes has the natural colour back in stock, does anyone have a discount code? "cheaptotes" isn't working - maybe they changed it? Thanks!
  22. Sarah- Thanks for the review! It is so helpful to know what to watch out for... So you and your guests were able to use all buffets/restaurants and bars on all properties, regardless of where you were staying? I ran into some people this week whose son got married on the Tulum side and they told me the same thing. Interesting! Because there was that whole discussion here (from a while ago) about the resort restricting guests' access to amenites on the different resorts. Great news! Congratulations!!
  23. BeachyBlonde- Regarding your questions about the Mayan Ceremony, if you go to page 45 of this thread, I posted some prices that were sent to me by Jazmin earlier this year. Hope that helps!! Except that I guess it won't help, because you're already there!! I just saw the wedding date!! Oh well, maybe it will help someone else?
