  1. So sad... Just heard from our travel agent tonight that Carnival has cancelled my cruise dates and the Valor is now only sailing to the Western Carribean (not sure when that starts, only know it affects me!) I'm so frustrated! I initially sent out an email to my near and dear's announcing the cruise (as a pre-save the date) and had to resend an email after Carnival decided that anyone who didn't deposit 3 days after we got the inital quote the fuel supplement would be increasing. It just makes me look unorganized. We actually had 24 people with deposits for this cruise, a deposit placed on a wedding co-ordinator in St. Thomas and now everything is falling apart! I'm afraid that people will think we are ultra-unorganized and may just decide it's too chaotic and not come. I know that it is still far away (2010) but it just looks bad. To think I was looking into formal STD today and yesterday. My TA is going to try to find a similar cruising date that sails to St. Thomas so we don't lose our deposit, but I'm afraid if it's alot more expensive some of the people that have placed deposits won't come. I know that the cruise companies CAN do this, I just don't understand why they would advertise IN PRINT certain dates and then just go ahead and change them. I'm pissed.
  2. That is so exciting!! Congrats to you. I would love hear ALL about your experience, good and bad, with both Carnival and Janelle. I ended up booking with Paradise Bridal, because being an indecisive person I really liked having a package option where what you see is what you get. But, that being said nothing is better than speaking directly to someone who going to have a very similar wedding to you! How many guests do you have going and where will you be getting married? Yeah! I'm so excited there is someone who is doing almost the exact same thing!!
  3. I'm so excited! It's still 2 years away, but 10 of the 12 rooms I reserved for our cruise have had deposits put down. I haven't even sent out any formal STD's or invites. Haha...maybe I can just skip them altogether?! j/k Still haven't been able to decide on a planner...big decision!
  4. I'd love to find out if you actually do...let me know how it turns out!
  5. Wow, I am impressed with the budget spreadsheet. I just showed my FI and he asked me if I just whipped that up...lol If only I was so talented!! I know it was created a while ago, but kudos to you!!!
  6. I'm so excited to finally be booked for our cruise in Feb 2010, on the Carnival Valor. After reading some not very nice reviews about the wedding co-ordinators on the ship, we have decided to book independently and have settled on booking in St. Thomas. We are still unsure whether we are going to use Paradise Bridal, or Island Bliss, but we'll let you know! I would love feedback from people about: Carnival Valor Paradise Bridal Island Bliss Weddings Yay!!! Melissa
  7. For those that are travelling with/or in the past travelled with Carnival what ship did you go on?
  8. I haven't decided on a wedding co-ordinator yet. I would love to hear from those who have dealt with Paradise Bridal and Island Bliss to give me some information on the packages they have chosen and pricing and their overall experience dealing with the two. Thanks!

  11. "why buy the cow when the milk is free?" You wouldn't buy a house without checking it out first. Living together first is great. Hopefully by the time you get married you have all of the little picky things worked out. And if it didn't work out, you can choose to move on without strings attached! That being said, I have a friend who didn't because she insisted it made her marriage seem more 'special' being able to combine their lives after the wedding. To each their own I guess!
  12. My cousins' DW party consisted of all family. It was really nice. She waited until people booked before asking them, and as more people of each sex booked her bridal party grew. But I also agree with everyone that if nobody stands out to you as someone you would want standing up for you, then just don't have any!
  13. Congrats on the pregnancy Christine. I'm a labour nurse and have a 2 month old myself...so exciting!
  14. Enjoy these last weeks of your pregnancy. These are the last weeks you have alone with your little one where you get the selfish pleasure of feeling her kick. Believe it or not you will miss it! Good luck!
  15. I keep getting told I don't have enough points to even look at other people's threads...what am I doing wrong?
  16. Hey Argelys I'm thinking of doing the same thing as you. Can you fill me in on some of your details/choices to help me out?
