  2. I have a HUGE favor to ask. We are going to hold our wedding at a rental home in Fort Myers beach. The owner has showed me quite a few pictures, but of course I want more. Would anyone be willing to go to this place and take some pictures for me and scoop it out since I wont be able to get down there before the wedding? Im 99% sure we are going with this place. But it would be nice to have more pictures to plan on how to do decor and excute this. There is a gazebeo on the propoert that he doesnt have a picture of that would be nice to see to. You can PM me or email me at sgtpepperette at gmail dot com. Thanks!
  3. I know exactly what your feeling and will be going through it in another month. Sending huge hugs your way! I think thats a great idea to put the ring in your garter.

  5. My inlaws expessed concern about seeing the actual pig. The head and all that. Perhaps the caterer can disguise it.
  6. I was wondering if I could get your thoughts on a pig roast reception. We are looking at these cottage/inn place to have our wedding. So we would be bringing in a caterer. They have two options we were interested in. A regular dinner, or a Hawaiian Luau Pig Roast. The Pig Roast just sounded like something a little different to us. And since we did orginially want to get married in Hawaii it sounded fun. Will this gross people out? I have to admit Ive never been to one, and Im worried it would. What are your thoughts?

The rates might be lower and you could hire your own vendors instead of going with who the resort uses. Thanks, Ill check these out. Local You might also want to contact a caterer directly. They will have more info on local venues and may offer planning services. I don't know where you have already looked, so hopefully this isn't duplicate info. You might want to start off the conversation by telling your budget. I know it is a lot easier for me to work with a client when I know what we have to work with. Say you have $2000 for a dinner for 35 is that something they can help you with. It's possible if it is a slow week or a one that isn't booked yet you can get a better deal. I did find a few caters that I requested quotes from. They had a few special menus that I thought may be cheaper. Like a BBQ style menu. How fun would that be? Pig Roast, etc.

You could also do a brunch or lunch. Have you looked into restaurants? Your group is small enough that you could have a private room and not have to buy out the whole restaurant. We did start to research that option. We found this really cute cottage place. And as long as we are staying there we can use their facilities for free. So than I started to look into vendors to bring in and came across all these ordiances. Its turtle nesting season and there can be no light on the beach. Than there is all these licenses and permits you have to get. Tent permit. Special event permit. Fire inspection the day before. And we cant have our own alcohol without a license. All those costs started to add up and it ended up being just as much as the resorts I did find one restaurant that was doable. But they dont have a location for the ceremony so I would still have to find that.

That's $70 per person which is very reasonable for a dinner. A limited bar is a great way to save money! Buffet meals will almost always be cheaper than a served meal. I'll see what I can find out. The wedding date is Oct 14, a Wednesday? Weekdays can be cheaper or easier to negotiate a deal. I was thinking $2500 for the food and the alcohol. Is that doable? Im finding the food is, its the 3-4 hour bar that is killing us. For example, we found a place where we could get the dinner for $50 a person, but when you add the bar it comes out to $94 a person. Than Im over $3000. So I have $2000 left for photography, officiant, flowers, decor, and some of the accomodations. As far as a buffet, we dont qualify for them. All the ones I checked our require a minimum of 50 people.

  11. So Im starting to get a little stressed. My wedding planner has gone MIA on me, so Ive moved on to another one. Except they are all to expensive for me. Im finding that the orginal wedding planner was giving me an really great deal. So I have decided to go with no wedding planner. I have a small budget of $5k. Im trying to find a location in Sanibel/Fort Myers area that we can afford. We are expecting 35 guests which takes us out of the intimate packages, and into the bigger packages. The resorts are beautiful but also are about $90-$150 per person which takes up a lot of our budget. That is just the food, bar, and location. Im trying to keep the food/bar around $2500. Im beginning to think thats impossible. Anyone have suggestions on a venue thats afordable. Or ways to cut costs to make this doable? Ive visited the brunch idea......or maybe a limited bar? Please help!

LOVE your tattoo and the meaning So Im going next week to get feet tattoos. How bad is it going to hurt?
  13. So I am going to a friends house for a Cinco De Mayo party on Tuesday. I am a pretty challenged cook. Seriously. Any ideas for an easy dish for me to bring? Ill be forever grateful!

  16. Im going to drive those saleswoman nuts. Ill go in there once a month if I can. LOL
  17. So my wedding dress is being stored at the bridal store. Its in a layaway type thing since they I bought the sample. This store is about 45 minutes away from where I live. And it just so happens that I have a baby shower that Im going to that is a half mile away from the bridal store. It will be a month since I found the dress. LOL Tell me this is normal to want to go visit it.
  18. I knew I wasnt the only one. Guess what? My FI loves it to. Tee hee. Its our Friday night ritual
  19. Is anyone else addicted to this show like me? I just saw this girl find this dress with black lace. Its mermaid which so doesnt look good on me, (and I already found my dream dress!), but seriously I LOVE this dress!!!
  20. I have a half sleeve of a buddha with a lotus flower. The flower represents going through life. A lotus flower starts in the muck water, and blossoms as it raises out of the water. Ive gone through some very difficult things in life and the flower represents that. The buddha brings in the serenity and strength to not go back to where I once was. And I just love the representation of buddist. If only everyone lived their lives a little bit under their practice..this world would be such a nicer place. To good onto others, and good will do unto you As I was finishing up my last seession, my dad passed a few days before. So we added his initials to it. Another hard thing I went through, and seeing those intials give me strength everyday. My dad hated tattoos, but loved this one. He went and got us matching buddha statues, and really wanted to come to my last session with me. He was looking really forward to the finish product. Im heading out in 11 days to get my next one! I cant wait!!!! Its sheet music to Ingrid Michaelsons song, Be Ok, on the top of both my feet.
  21. A big gain this week to. I know its from all the drinking I did over the weekend. Im finding it hard to find my groove again! Must get on track.
