  1. wow I am just about to board a plane but I am reading all of this. My wedding is April 4th but I am actually having the ceremony at Ana y jose so it just means that our guests will be staying at the same hotel. I'm sure we can all have fun together! I have 50 guests but they won't all be staying there and I think even with 44 rooms there will probably be enough room. The only issue will be the rehearsal dinner. I'm sure we can work it out! This is all making me a little nervous but they haven't even contacted me except to say there will be another wedding at the hotel April 4th (which I assume is you). I think they should figure out a way to honor your old reservation but if you switch to April 4th I'm sure we can all stay at the hotel and even maybe share hair dressers etc! Sarah
  2. I've also found them a bit difficult to deal with--a lot of my guests have emailed to try to make reservations and don't hear back. Angelina always responds to my emails but often doesn't answer my question at all. I attribute it to the language barrier. . . but something to keep in mind.
  3. We chose Eurostars because it felt more intimate like a boutique hotel. We went to Dreams and it was beautiful but just didn't feel very "us".
  4. Hi! i am getting married at Ana y Jose in April 09! There are so many things I would love to talk to you about: What dishes are you serving? Are you renting out the palapya and paying for a private event? What area are you having your dinner seating in? Cocktails? I'm so excited you joined!
  5. OMG that's terrible!!!!!!!!! I would try to reach a rep in the States to get a better sense. There is something sketchy about that story and I can only imagine that it may have to with all these closures. Maybe Tammy can help. Have you tried contacting the mods?
  6. I found Doranna's contact and she gave me permission to post it? doranna debortoli [email protected] She charges 250 for brides and 180 for bridesmaids. A trial is 180. Those prices are if she travels to Tulum, however, so it is cheaper if you go to PDC where she lives.
  7. I found the contact info for doranna and she gave me permission to post it on the forum. Her last name is debortoli and her email address is [email protected] She charges $250 for brides and $95 for bridesmaids. These prices were for her to travel to Tulum and I guess it is less if you go to PDC where she lives. This does not include a trial and the trial is $180 . . . .so she's not cheap but I will probably book her because she is willing to come to Tulum. If you email her she can send pics of brides hair that she has styled.
  8. There are a lot of non-resorty options in Tulum but there are also a few AIs that people can choose to stay at even if you dont have your wedding there. My guests are staying at Eurostars Blue Tulum (for a lot of the reasons you mentioned). Dreams Tulum is just down the road too . . . so people with kids could stay there. Let me know if you have any questions!
  9. So of course I went to the website and fell in love with a bathing suit that wasn't on sale ( I always do that--go to a sale and then want the non-sale items). But I went to South Beach Swimsuits - Vix Swimwear, Gottex Swimwear, Salinas Swimwear and Designer Swimsuits and if you enter the promotional code "Save" you get $25 dollars off.
  10. If you are looking at the RM then here is my review of a few non AI hotels: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t22796 We were also looking at non-AI's.
  11. if you do a search for ROSAZISSIMO on ebay they are available in a few colors and sizes! I'm dying for these in the light green so if anyone sees them . . . I'm obsessed.
  12. Doranna Debortoli did hair for a couple of girls on this site and did an amazing job! Check out: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t22361 I'm still trying to find contact info for her. . . .
  13. Do you have a contact for Doranna Debortoli? Your hair looks amazing and I would like to hire her too!
  14. After scouring BDW I've found the following recommendations : 1) alexandromakeup.com 2) Guillermo Flores [email protected] 3) le BLEUE in Playa 4) Aida Tantandell. She is in the Constituyentes Av. Apparently works with stars like (Catherine Z Jones Their phone number is (52)-87 33 910 and they charge 200 usd. if you want them to go to your room hotel. 5) Italian woman named Ana. Her phone number is 52- 984 116 79 73 She is not expensive and also goes to your place. She is great! 6) EVA TAME from studio 22 It seems most people get their hair/makeup done at their hotel. I think we should start a new thread and ask people to post their makeup and recs for hairdressers not associated with a hotel. Has anyone used any of these?
  15. Vix are the best! I love that they sell separates . I've had my vix suit forever and its my favorite suit. I'm going right now to buy another one for wedding/honeymoon. thanks for the headsup!
  16. I haven't tried this yet but I saw a booth at my local mall that does laser tooth whitening treatments for around $100. Has anyone tried these? I assume they are the same technology they use at the dentist.
  17. It's so reassuring to hear that all the restaurants are open and that the scale-back is not interfering with weddings and vacations. According to their WC only 44 rooms are open. If anything, only having 44 rooms open will make the experience more intimate for our wedding guests. Our wedding party is staying at Eurostars 4/09 so maybe we will see you there! sarah
  18. My understanding is that there are 44 rooms open and all amenities are open. Please let us know what you find out.
  19. I have been speaking with Angelina who is the WC at Eurostars. I understand from her that the hotel is "partially" closed but that 44 rooms are open and all restarants and amenities are available. Still, if you are signing a contract with them, especially for a ceremony, I would specifically outline what will happen to your party if there is an unexpected closure. I don't think they have another Eurostars hotel in the region so they can't move your group. Our guests are still blocking rooms at the hotel but I am getting a little nervous what will happen if the hotel closes unexpectedly.
  20. Great to hear that Al Ceilo changed their policy. I imagined they would when they started to loose wedding over the fees.
  21. Does anyone know what is happening at Eurostars Blue Tulum? I keep getting the run-around when I email their WC. She is very elusive saying the hotel is "somewhat open". My rooms are blocked there but not until April so I assume everything will be fine but I am starting to get nervous.
  22. I didn't think of that! I will ask Laura. She is making our stamps too so I assume that she knows that a regular postage stamp will be sufficient.
