Thanks all!! I am glad that SOMEONE knows something. The more people (again, my family making me nuts) tell me that they need to know information, the less I think that I know. Thanks again. I feel better now. I will call the wedding sales department and move from there. I am actually using Michelle at Liberty Travel. I think that she is swamped, but I just needed/wanted some kind of confirmation. A simple, "Ok. Your wedding is a go for oct 4th. Feel free to send out invitations now."

Alright, I know that this is wayyyy too early to be freaking out, but I need a little help. SO, I want to use the ROR for my wedding. 2 of my extended family members had their wedding there and it went off without a hitch. I can't say the same thing for the Sandals weddings in the family, but RIU (both in Ochy and Negril) have done wonderful jobs in dealing with our crazy clan.... Anywhoo, I digress... I went online and checked into a date, oct 4th and it said it was available. 2 days later, I get a confirmation of it's availablity. I called the travel agent who booked the last 2 weddings there and she insists on checking out the RItz as well. Ok. She says that she is checking it out at the RIU. It has now been a week and nobody has taken money from me for anything, so I am afraid that I am gonna lose my spot. Is that possible? Do I have to pay for the package that I choose now? How do I go about reserving a private reception (I have 62 guests, including 10 children, that are confirmed and ready to put down deposits or are staying offsite or live there and a huge amount of folks that haven't even been invited yet)? I know that it is too early to speak to Chandlyn, but what do I do? I want to lock things down so that I can start sending out Save the Dates and start making plans. What do I do??

We are getting the same thing. Everyone has a comment. Both of our families are Jamaican, so people aren't really complaining about the trip....yet. Mostly everyone wants to stay elsewhere (well, we are staying at aunt/uncle so and so's place. or at other resorts..) while not realizing that I have to pay PER PERSON if they stay someplace else. I was trying to get away from the per person issue. No one wants to chip in money for their day pass and now the newest load of crap is... wait for it.... So, since your wedding is at 2 and the reception wont start until 6:30, we are gonna have a family dinner at another restaurant and then come back later... Ummm.... how will it be a family dinner without us, and WHY WOULD YOU GO TO DINNER BEFORE I HAVE TO PAY FOR YOU TO EAT DINNER JUST HOURS LATER!!! ARRRGGGGHHH!!!

Yeah, but for those of us flying from the states, we CAN'T lock our bags before we fly, thanks to TSA. Even if we lock up the suitcase, can't they just take the whole bag or cut it with a knife or scissors? If they are going as far as to drill into a safe, I don't think that a knife or scissors are above them. Leaving stuff in a drawer or something worries me. Any ideas?
