And can you tell me who the designer is? Honestly, it really is my favorite dress so far! -
What I would and wouldn't do again...

Kashmira!!!! That dress is the most beautiful dress I've seen!! You should not regret that at all! It was gorgeous! If I thought it would fit up my thigh (and if you hadn't already sold it), I'd probably buy it from you! Seriously - it was gorgeous! Could you maybe negotiate a cheaper price with the other girl and have her give it back to you after she's finished? That way you could keep it? -
Post your "Must Have" wedding songs
Opice34 replied to TammyWright's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
This is a great thread! The only song I haven't seen is Sweet Caroline which always makes me want to sing at the top of my lungs! (And no, my name's not Caroline.) -
Holy cow, I just read my post and I do not know what's wrong with my grammar. Apparently I am overwhelmed! I was a frickin' English Lit major and I can't even write properly anymore! This wedding may be the death of me. Okay. We are getting married at the Hilton in the Miramar Garden overlooking the ocean. I'm a big fan of high heels and can't imagine not wearing them on my wedding day. So, a beach wedding was out for me. We haven't decided on a rehearsal dinner spot yet. That was another negative about the Hilton as they don't have a restaurant that's large enough to accomodate a rehearsal dinner on site. We are going back there in June, and I'm hoping to pick a rehearsal dinner location then. We are taking both of our parents on that trip so that they can join us for the menu tasting and get a glance at the wedding location. Don't stress about the beach. One of the things that calmed me the most during our site visit was that there are so many beautiful locations, that I think a wedding will be wonderful no matter where you have it. I know you have your heart set on a beach wedding, and you will most likely get it, but just in case mother nature throws a wrench in the plan, there are plenty of beautiful locations you could use as back-ups. Even a pretty terrace overlooking the ocean would be nice. So, I don't mean to scare you, but Cancun is in the hurricane zone, so there is always a chance that the resorts will lose some of their beach. I think the odds of this are slim, but it's possible. And again, there are so many pretty places, that I think you'll love them all. It's a happy time! Try not to stress! (Easier said than done, I know. I can't even spell anymore.) But the odds of everything working out perfectly are pretty slim, so we have to learn to let go and be okay if things don't go exactly as planned. (I haven't yet figured out how to do that, but I will let you know if I figure it out.) There may be some sort of muscle relaxer involved. Ha. Good luck! Everything always works out!

I did a site visit before choosing the Hilton. Here is my 2 cents on your hotels listed below. Fiesta - didn't visit this one Hilton - there is plenty of beach for a beach wedding (I believe you saw my pics in my previous post?) Westin - we cancelled our visit here because the reviews on tripadvisor are horrible. We decided that even if we went there and loved it we wouldn't risk putting our family and friends at a resort with such bad reviews. But, we didn't see it for ourselves. MP - I just posted to you in another thread that I thought it was about 15 minutes from the hotel zone. They are plenty of MP brides that can give you more info. They had a nice beach suitable for a wedding. Dreams - They do have a beach that would be big enough for a wedding, but I"m not sure if anyone has wed there or not. JW/Casa Magna - both are beautiful hotels. JW is the nicer of the two and will most likely be more expensive. CM feels a bit more laid back. When we were there, neither had much beach though. If you email the resorts, they will be very honest with you about whether or not they can accomodate a beach wedding. (At least they were in my experience.) Those that lost their beach in the last hurricane season very quickly told me that they couldn't accomodate a beach wedding. I'm not sure when you're getting married, but keep in mind that another hurricane season is approaching and even those hotels with a beach right now may lost it. You will probably have time to visit all of those in one weekend if it will set your mind at ease. We ran around like idiots on our site visit weekend, and we visited lots of sites and had dinners at potential rehearsal dinner locations. Good luck!!! I'm sure you'll fall in love with one!! As of right now I am debating on the following: Fiesta Americana Condesa Hilton Cancun Golf & Spa Resort Westin (I haven't heard much at all on this property!) Moon Palace (is this even close to Cancun? If not I will need to rule it out) Dreams (Has anyone wed on the beach there? The gazebo is beautiful but I really want a beach wedding, yet I haven't seen any pics of one) JW Marriott/Casa Magna Marriott (which is better?!) Paradisus RM Cancun Can anyone help me? The wedding will be small, with about 30 guests. I must must must have a ceremony on the beach (so its important to me that the beach is nice), and am pretty open about the reception location as long as it has nice views of the sea and a dance floor. I have younger siblings so it must be 'teen'/child friendly. I want a nice place that is unique, where my guests will enjoy their 'mini-vacation'. Are there any of these I should cross off my list, or any that I should definitely keep for my Top 3? I'M SO CONFUSED!!

This post is so helpful!!! I have been particularly worried about getting a band in Mexico that I've never heard of, so we were thinking of going with a DJ instead. But I would love a live band if it's a good one!! Did they play CDs on their breaks? Thanks again! I met Josefina at Casa Magna on our site visit and she was WONDERFUL! IndyPitty - I'm getting married at the Hilton too! We'll have to stay in contact!

I do have to say that Clara at Le Meridien was just adorable and I think I would trust her with anything. She was really wonderful and one of the only WCs who followed up with me after our visit. She was very organized, wonderful to work with, and just has a great attitude. And their wedding locations are BEAUTIFUL!!!! Moon Palace is a ways from the hotel zone. We rented a car for the weekend, so that's how we got there. I'd say it took us maybe 15 minutes to get there from the hotel zone? I'm not the best with directions, so I'm not sure. I'm sure your guests could take a cab there, but it would probably be a bit more expensive than going to the hotel zone. LOTS of people get married there though, so it can't be hard to get to! From what I understand, JW and Casa Magna just lost their beach in last year's hurricane season. I'd say ALL of the hotels have a smaller beach than what appears on their websites. All of them lost some beach last year, but unfortunately, some of them lost all of it. It also depends on the time of year...when the earth tilts, the tide changes, and can show more beach. (I think that's how it works - I'm not a scientist. ) But yes, when we were there, the waves were literally crashing right into the hotel walls. All of them mentioned that they were hoping the tides would shift and they'd get more of their beach back. A lot of times, hotels will bring in sand to rebuild as well. We chose the Hilton and we are so excited!!!!

Ben & Kelly's Welcome Booklet
Opice34 replied to KellyMN's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Wow! How great that all of the guests were moved to a better resort! That's a good omen! From the wedding pictures, it looks like everything turned out beautifully! Did anyone on this thread receive the template from Kelly? I sent her a couple of PMs requesting it, but it was right before her wedding, so I'm wondering if she missed them because she was busy. (Probably re-doing the brochures.) If someone would share the template with me, I would greatly appreciate it! It's just beautiful, isn't it? Nice work, Kelly!! Oh, and I just saw that you said you feel like you've failed in the female friend department! You haven't failed!!!!! We're all crazy and having female friendships are hard. Especially in our 20s when life seems to be changing so much. Don't be so hard on yourself!!! I hope everything works out!

It kind of reminds me a of me a bit, but I never ditched my friends like your BM seems to be doing. But most of my friends started having babies about 5 years ago, and I was so far from that place. I couldn't even go visit them at the hospital when they had the babies. It just made me feel like I couldn't breathe. Don't get me wrong, I was there for them, I bought them baby gifts, I went by their houses to meet their babies. But I was completely freaked out by it...to the point where it felt like I was having an anxiety attack. It was worse when one of my free-spirited, travel-around-the-world friends told me that she was having a baby. It just brought up a lot of self-reflection and I couldn't figure out why all of my friends were ready for that stage of life and I wasn't. At all. It took me a long time to realize that it was okay for me to reach that stage on my own time and that it was okay to not want the same things other people my age wanted. I didn't ditch them, and I helped them out when I could - I love them all very much - but I was completely having an internal freakout during that period. And looking back, I really regret not going to visit them at the hospital after the birth. Her behavior probably has nothing to do with you. She may just be working through her own stuff. Different people reach different phases of life at different times and it sounds like she's just a little behind you. Don't count her out yet. I've now caught up with my friends and we are all in a very similiar stage now. I just had a lot of traveling to get out of my system first. I do hope she can put her own feelings aside and realize that even if she's not ready, you are, and she should be there for you during this time. Part of friendship is accepting who we are and where we are in life and supporting each other through it all. I hope she comes around and does that for you...

Amy! That's a GREAT idea! Thanks for sharing! -
Isn't something else going on with her that would make her unhappy? It sounds like she's not a happy person. Is she maybe freaked out that you're getting married and not handling it very well? If she's been a good friend for a long time, don't count her out. She might just be going through something and having a rough time...

Those are great bags!!!! Thanks for sharing everything! Looks great! -
I haven't been to Lorito Joe's, but I am also looking for a good rehearsal dinner spot in Cancun. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've done some searching on the board and haven't found much yet.

Gift for Wedding Coordinator
Opice34 replied to Maggie&Darryl08's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
15-20%?!?! That'd be several thousand dollars!!! And I believe 15% tip is included anyway. I guess I should see if the WC gets any of that.
