Thanks ladies for all the good advice. We still have not made a final decision. We will probably end up just going out to dinner with family & friends. We are not trying to have a fancy celebration. We would only be inviting about 20-25people if we have that many. I just don't want my wedding day to be just like any other day. All of the people that we would invite are aware of our finanical situation so that would understand. I guess I am thinking this would be just like friends and family getting together to celebrate a special occasion,(B-day job-promotion,graduation etc). But I do appreciate all of your suggestions. I haven't given up yet. Thanks so much for all of your help.

Hey ladies, Here is my problem and I will give the short version. My FI orginally planned to get married @ The Riu n Ocho Rios, JA on 10/25/2008 will we had to postpone the date because of my mother's lung Cancer. We took our saving to help with some of her medical expenses. Then we ran into trouble with our house, we had to wait until the intersted rate became secure so that we could refiance our home. We finally got everything settle but now we have another problem. We are having a small civil ceremony May 2009 with family. We would like to have a small celebration dinner,we have found a nice resturant that will give us room for privacy. The room will hold 80 people. We have paid for a 7 day cruise for our honeymoon. Ok, now here is the hard part, we can't afford to pay for dinner for everyone.We would like to invite our family and friends to come and celebreate with us but they would be responsible for their own meals. How would we word that on a annoucement/invitation. I do have a menu with prices to offer them choices We are not looking for any weddings gifts. Just being with our famliy and friends will be enough.

Hey, Squeeze me in..... Wedding Oct 25th there 10/23 thru 10/27

I have never been to Riu before but I did go to Ocho Rios last year. I was there on a cruise. We went horse back riding along the beach . It was beautiful. we didn't have enough time to spend on the island. We found out that Ocho Rios has a lot of excursions which is way we chose to go there for our wedding. It will give us lots to do and make the trip more exciting for our guests. I have a list of activities if anyone is interested.........

I am recovering from a herniated disc. I go to PT 3 times a week and she is teaching me to stretch and pilates. This is suppose to strength my abs,hips and thighs which supports your back. I really believe that it is helping. My back doesn't hurt as much because is stretch everyday and when it gets to tight I will use the heating pad. But the most important thing is to go see the chriopractor he can recommend the best possible treatment. GOOD LUCK

I guess I was wrong I can up with Island elegance. But I don't know what the means. So how do I create my theme? At the wedding? Reception? When?

Hey I like you ideal. I would like to plan an outing for my guest . So please clarify your schedule for me. I'm a little confused on what day to schedule it. When do I make the suggestion to my guest? Do I include the info on my itineary? Do I chose where we go? Or do we take a vote?

Your pictures are so nice. Can you send me or post pictures of the reception. I would like to get a general ideal of what the color scheme is. I need to make a decision about buying extra decorations. I saw your wedding pictures on the gazebo that's where I want to have my ceramony. Will I need to have an isle runner or rose petal.? I have so many questions. I'm sorry. I just get so excited!!!!!

Hey Ladies, I'm getting married @ The RIU 10/25/08 and I have rec'd my confirmation number reagarding my wedding package. But after reading this site. I have found the prices are different(cheaper) My FH wanted the most expensive wedding package. I don't feel that we would use all of the stuff included. I also am finding out that we don't have to use the florist at the hotel. That we have other options. The hotel prices are sooo expensive. So my questions is this. Would it be cheaper to go with a cheaper package and then do add-ons. I would like to have a gazebo wedding and I am hoping that the natural beauty will shine thru and I won't have to spend a lot of money on flowers for decorations. I would appreciate any and all suggestions.

Hi future"Mrs." I have seen on another wedding site that brides ask for certain photos to be taken. I need help with this one. I am having a DW in Ocho Rios at the Riu 10/25/08 and their wedding package includes a photographer. Do I let him take the pictures or do I request certain pictures? If so, which one do I request?
