  1. We are in the same boat. Almost everybody (save 4 people) is going down on the same plane, so Jason and I are meeting them at the check-in at the airport and handing them out then. Most airlines allow two carry ons, so they will be fine~ We did towels too, so we sure didn't want to lug them all down with us!!!

  3. Thanks Vanessa! 111 days to go for me... I can't wait!!! Your pics made me EVEN more excited; didn't think that was possible. Congratulations! xo
  4. Thanks for putting that together! Great idea to leave info with the sitters too... love the magnet idea.

  6. Hi Holley, I'm in Edmonton too; and I'm getting married at LC next year (May 6!!!). Cool! Its looking like we'll have around 50 guests and we're all staying at the Melia in the marina. The beach there is gross, so it isn't the choice for you. As mentioned, South and North (Nuevo), the beaches are much nicer, so you should stick with those. We are staying in the marina to be close to family, but I have to say its a little too bad... I would have chosen to stay south for sure (Dreams looks amazing!). We did the delux package too; booked a long time ago, so not sure how that translates to the new stuff... the price sounds about the same as the one you were asking about. My bridesmaid, my mom and I are going over in the morning to kick back and the rest of the guests are coming over on the boat. I wasn't going to do that, but after reading all of the advice on this AMAZING forum, I am 100% in (THANKS GIRLS!). J and I are doing our site visit on Jan 2, and that will be our second time there together (my fourth time. I love it there.) I have to say I am not the least bit concerned about anything anything anything. We have been in touch with Nicole and between her and the ladies on this site, I have no concerns what-so-ever. I always joke that I have two wedding planners: BDW and Nicole. Happy planning! Nancy
  7. We have done EVERYTHING via the internet... we sent out STD's with a link to our website (we used Wedquarters, we love it~), and a couple months later we sent out our invites via email as well (also linked to site). I wondered about this being a faux-pas, but our guests have responded very favourably. We printed out the entire site and had it bound for an aunt and our grandmas, who don't have email. We just keep them posted with updates by phone. We password protected the RSVP page of the website and put the password on the invitation. Both the STDs and the invitations are simple word docs... we wanted to make sure everyone would be able to open them. Jason did some fancy stuff on his computer and sent it to me, but since I didn't have the programs, I couldn't open the attachment. We have lots of family out in rural areas who are still on dial-up, so we didn't want this to be an issue (*we tried downloading some fancy fonts, but they didn't open either*). We just put text on top of meaningful pictures using paint, and they worked out beautifully! We decided since we are having a DW that we could push the envelope a little, and it has worked out really well. Total cost for STDs and Invites: $0.00!!!! Let me know what questions you have, Nancy
  8. Trisha, I am sending you warm hugs and support from up North. You are in a very difficult position. Please remember you are not alone. When I was in your position I kept everything inside and just about lost my mind. Your body is doing crazy things to you, never mind the thoughts you are having to process. Let our cyber hugs keep you warm and connected, and don't forget to keep your darling FI in the loop. Thinking of you in your difficult time, xoxoxoxoxo Nancy
  9. Welcome aboard, You have some big decisions to make... but you have help now! I can't tell you how helpful this forum has been to me. I'm getting married in Mexico in May. Have a look at the threads to do with Las Caletas, it would suit your budget and it is affordable for guests to get to Puerto Vallarta, especially from the States. As soon as you choose your spot and book the date, it pretty much just takes off from there. Happy planning, and remember, we're here! Nancy
  10. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!! 161 days to go. Brilliantly written review of a brilliant day. I don't have a single doubt or ounce of anxiety about my LC wedding~what a lovely feeling! Congratulations to you both, and thanks again for sharing. I am jumping right out of my skin! Cheers again, Nancy
  11. Oh My God Brooke and Gen, I've been watching the site like a HAWK for your pics. They are fabulous! Another magical LC wedding... Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to read the review when you have time to write it. Cheers, Nancy

  13. Darnit darnit darnit! I can't imagine how disappointed you must be. I'm sure that was a difficult decision to come to terms with, but think how perfect your wedding will be when the time is right. Big hugs your way. Try to remember that your reasons for postponing were good ones, and be relieved that you have made your decision. xo Nancy
  14. Maui'd... I love it!!! Hahahaha!!! Welcome aboard BB5!
  15. That's awesome Leticia! How exciting!! The same thing happened to me... I never would have tried on the dress that the consultant brought to me. Sure enough though, it was THE one. So exciting!!
  16. Hi Janelle, I'm just down in Edmonton... we're practically neighbours! I googled "Jamaican themed party" and lots of cool stuff came up. I think the music will be your biggest bonus, the live music scene seems to be pretty amazing up there in GP, you might even find a band to play! The food would be pretty doable too, coconut shrimp and jerk chicken... For decorations, you could just get tons of those big palm-type leaves that florist use for greenery, that would look cool. You could do lots with the bright carribean colours too. I think it would be super cool to extend the whole Jamaica trip into the AHR, especially in the middle of a Northern Alberta winter. Perfect! Happy planning, Nancy
  17. Lindsay, I love that you kept Caletas a secret! When I read that you had done that I decided to try as well...but I have not been very successful. Our guests know we are taking a 45 minute boat ride to the wedding, and that it will take place on the beach. I keep letting other things slip (Jason is way better at keeping mum than I am), but I've managed to keep the name under wraps! Did you enclose info on PV in your OOT bags? I was thinking Adventure Vallarta information would be perfect because they're such an amazing company, but I'm afraid people will clue in to the Caletas thing on the brochure...
  18. Holy Cow Shelly, I don't know what I would do!! Any news from Petsmart yet? I sure hope they don't drop the ball on this one. Give Ashes a rub behind the ears from all of us.

    new here!

Hi Leticia! Congrats and welcome to the board. I'm a May '08 bride too, crazy how it is sneaking up on us. I'm sure you've already noticed, but this forum is an absolute wealth of information. Happy planning! Nancy in Edmonton
  20. I agree with Edna, updo is definitely the way to go. Love your dress! Greek goddesses do their hair however you decide to do your hair because in that dress you'll be a goddess no matter what!!!
  21. We are arriving in PV 03/05 (May 3... I never know which one to put first!) and staying at the Melia (with our guests) for a week. The wedding is on May 6 (Tuesday) at Las Caletas. We're staying for another week for our honeymoon, but not sure where, maybe Sayulita.
  22. Hahahah, I haven't posted much but I spend so much time with you girls I feel like I'm part of the family anyway... so does my body because I'm in synch too... Never mind statistics, let's go with "neat". (Not to mention relieved! Was a little unsure about our timing for about a week there... not yet!!! No room in my dress, and I'm not wearing it for 6 months!) Break a leg tomorrow Christa!
  23. Dear Beautiful Man Who I am about to Marry, Thank you for driving all the way here just for the night. I love you so much. I can't wait to be finished and move into our beautiful home! Dear Self, OK. The wedding is very exciting and you have TONS to do, but don't forget you are STILL IN SCHOOL. I know you wanted to graduate before the wedding, but at this rate, you will be returning for summer school! Also, was it necessary to eat all of that ice-cream tonight? Just because you bought the "light" stuff (totally not worth it by the way) does not mean that you can eat twice as much. REMEMBER THE DRESS (and being on the beach in a bathingsuit in front of all of your friends and family).
  24. Wow Angela! Thank you so much for posting all of your stuff. Fabulous ideas, you've been a busy girl! Thanks for sharing...
