In fact, she said she's from NY, but went to an art school in LA, and lived here a few years and then moved back to NY before moving to PV. I thought maybe she just forgot to mention Michigan... haha... Anyway, to answer some of your previous questions... Beth told me she would take about 500 shots the whole day. She'd send them all to you on a CD. Then you can pick the ones that you really like and she will re-touch them for you. We didn't do a contract and I didn't make a deposit, but now I'm thinking we probably should. Oh yeah, I also told Beth about this forum and she said others have mentioned it too, but she's been too busy to post. Hopefully she can find time soon! I'd highly suggest getting a contract - without it you have no recourse if she doesn't show, etc . . . a contract protects both parties.
  14. I refer my clients that have their full-access cd's to go to Mpix.com Online Digital Imaging Service - Order digital photo prints online from professional imaging lab for their prints; the prices are very reasonable & the quality is great. I've heard so many bad things from other photogs about pictage that I stayed far, far away from them when building my website & deciding upon online proofing. If a client is ordering from my site, I want to have some quality control as to what they are receiving . . . don't trust not seeing what my client will be getting!! I'd highly recommend staying away from the walgreens, walmart kiosk's for your images . . . you've paid all that money on a great photographer, you want to get great prints too! Hope this helps, Robin
  15. I've seen them listed in several of my pro-photog mags, but have never checked them out. I do recommend Mpix.com Online Digital Imaging Service - Order digital photo prints online from professional imaging lab to my clients that purchase their digital negatives - everything is printed on pro-paper (same as you'd get from the pro-photog). Hope this helps, Robin

  17. Las Vegas is one cool city - that never sleeps! Went there in June 2006 for a photography program; we loved every moment of it except the cabbies!!! They will definetely screw you over if given the chance. Can't wait to see photos from your wedding - it's gonna be here before you know it. Robin

Also, on page 4 at the top there is something called a Hand Crafted Heirloom Album and professionally produced video utilizing your still images and put on a DVD. Would that DVD be similar to what Leigh Miller did for Ann at her Las Caletas wedding? What is this heirloom thing? Sounds interesting. Hi Marla, Thought I could try to answer some of your questions. The canvas wall portrait will probably look like this (this is a gallery wrapped canvas - no need to frame; they have a special coating on them to perserve them): With the gallery wraps, there are different thickness' - 1/2 to 2" . . . depends on what you want. The album sounds like it may be a coffee table book or something similar, not quite sure on what they are describing. Yes, it sounds like the DVD is more of a slideshow on DVD set to music like Leigh & myself offer (I have a sample slideshow in my siggy). Hope this helps! Robin

Just wanted to pass that along. Happy planning! Crystal That's not an uncommon practice of photographers. That's what brings in new business to the photographer - them showcasing their work on the web & in adverts. My clients love when they are featured on my site / blog / print ads.
  20. Why would these resorts be willing to lose many thousands of dollars in revenue over a bride/groom bringing in an outside vendor That is just absurd!!
  21. That totally sucks!! Just about everything is made in china now . . . it would be extremely hard to not have anything in the OOT bags that wasn't made in china. Hope it all works out for you! Robin
  22. The best thing to do is actually bring the file to whom ever will be printing it for you - that way they can digitize the file how they need to. Robin
