  1. Great job!!! I'm still debating whether to have a message in the bottle invitations. How many hours did it take to put these together?
  2. Susan...everything is all together! Very nice stuff and ideas you've got going. Starfish theme is great. Have a great time in Cancun!!! Can't wait to hear reviews from you...
  3. My fiance designed a custom stamp at zazzle.com and they came out great. I think it's worth it for an invitation. I did it for my STD and planning to do another for the actual invitation. Cost of a 41 cent stamps is 73 cents.

  5. I just sent my STD last week for a June 2008 wedding, directing guests to our website where they can RSVP (by 11/15). I plan on sending the invitations by end of January. By that time, the invitation will just be a formality because hopefully those that will be attending have already booked their travel and RSVP'ed. To estimate my rough guests count, I've verbally asked my closed families and friends who will be able to make it.
  6. I have to add this though...the resort looks great from the inside and out. During my visit to Cancun last month, I was able to see the resort's location. It's across a strip mall (kind of busy area). Has great restaurants and modern decor.
  7. Actually when I started looking into resort for my wedding, The Royal was my top choice. Everything is new, food is great, service is great etc. In fact, they had made us an offer that was pretty good that we should have decided to have our wedding there. The factors that made my decision to not have my wedding there are: -Adults only resort (big factor - cannot accommodate all of my guests) -Very narrow beach -A bit on the pricey side compare to other hotels in Cancun -Too new that there's been lots of complaints (they don't have their act together yet) -At that time, it was hard to find information/pictures of weddings at the resort. I see why you would be unsure of having your wedding there. Goodluck...
  8. WC told me that if we book 30 rooms then we get an upgrade, if we have 50 rooms then they can give us 3 nights/ 4 days of free vacation on our next visit. I'm sure all of these are negotiable. I think the way you have to approach the negotiation is to ask for something that matters to you. Also, you are entitled to the Eternity Honeymoon package if you are staying at a Honeymoon suite of higher category for 7 nights or have 5 rooms staying for 3 nights (from your guests). Goodluck!
  9. Hang in there...your wedding is right around the corner. So exciting!!! Here's a big hug...
  10. Thanks for the feedback everyone. It's nice to get other perspective on this kind of stuff. I think we've narrowed down the activities that we will offer our guests and will make it optional.
  11. OK since everyone has to fly to our destination wedding and spend a lot of money, I sort of feel obligated to treat my guests to something, like an activity. I'm trying to get an idea what things you picked up the tab for? I'm expecting between 70-100 guests so this could be costly. If there weren't so many people coming, I'd definitely treat everyone to a snorkeling trip or something.
  12. I would love to see your photos as well since I'm interested in Claudia's studio. I'll send you an email.
  13. Here's the link to my favorite bridal designer and the gown of my dream. I'm schedule to try it on mid-month so I'll posts more pictures then. CasaBlancaBridal.com: Spring Collection/1849
  14. Ops, we're getting married in 2 different places. I guess I won't see your wedding afterall.
  15. I like the top right. In fact, those are my wedding colors (burnt orange & chocolate). My wedding is 3 days after yours...so maybe I'll get to see your wedding if we fly in on a Sat. I also like the orange and blue combo, those are definitely eye catching.
  16. Thanks Susan! This is news to me that organza is included in the package. The price I saw for the organza and ivy was $288. As far as set up costs for table decor, you defnitely have to pay unless you do it yourself. Which probably isn't so bad if you don't have very many tables to decorate. Paula, do you have a picture of the bouquet that you want? I want mango calla lilies and orange roses and the price I was quoted was $150. I thought this seems ridiculous considering the package came with a basic bouquet.
  17. I have to agree since during my recent visit to Cancun, I experienced the same thing. Tell your guests that once they get out of the sliding doors (after customs), they should proceed outside to your shuttle bus and just ignore those guys (they are all wearing the same polo shirts) selling everything in the world. It would also help if you can get the parking number of your shuttle bus so you can go directly to that parking spot. All shuttle bus picking up at the airport are assigned a number to park and wait for their passengers. You don't have to make any excuses, just keep walking and ignore them.
  18. CONGRATS!!! Welcome to the forum. There's a few of us getting married at Dreams. Feel free to post any questions. First things first, you may want to research the weather in Cancun around the time you want to get married to make sure it's not rainy or hurricane season. Happy planning!!!
  19. Hey Paula, We're expecting between 70-100, same size as Susan's wedding. I put the 50% deposit while I was in Cancun. I don't have a contract yet, but Claudia should be sending me one soon. I'll double check the contract to make sure she doesn't try to charge me for the extra hour of reception. Although, if their staff cannot serve your party in the allotted 3 hours (due to the size) and would have to go overtime, then maybe they'll just eat the costs. Whereas if you requested for an extra hour to party, then they'll probably charge for the extra time. I guess it's best to play it by ear and see which party extends the time...
  20. Jilly, when I was in Cancun with Claudia she said there's no charge for me to have my reception from 7-11. I only wanted a reception from 7-10, but she suggested because of the large size of the party, we should have it from 7-11pm. My cocktail hour (6-7pm) will be at the Terrace (both indoor and outdoor) and reception in the ballroom so you can definitely have your parties in different parts of the resort. A contract is suppose to list all prices and description in great detail of what you're paying for. Not having the costs in the contract may be good or bad, either she won't charge you at the end or she can charge you whatever she wants. Personally, I'd prefer the detailed breakdown so I won't be surprised.
  21. I think the largest expenses in a wedding is usually the F&B (varies by the number of guests). We're expecting between 70-100 guests so F&B is on top of my budget lists. Then personal travel and honeymoon as well as complementary travel for our parents. After that photography and videography to capture the moments that you'll either forget or too busy to witness. Then the wedding bands which will lasts forever so invest on a great pair!
  22. Susan, can you pls. send me the name, contact, prices of your DJ? I'm still trying to look for a DJ. Also, how are the feedback for your photographer, Citlali. Trying to decide between a few photographers and would need opinions from other brides. What made you ultimately go with them? Thanks!
  23. I'm not sure if this was posted before - prices for having a chocolate fountain during your reception. (yum!)
