  1. Christine.. Thanks, yes we have booked with Jamaica air, they are only offering travel credit at this time so if we want our money back on the flights, we have to go through insurance..WE bought travel insurance (thank God) but we have already obtained our refund for the resort room, which makes me so sad at this time, if we want money back for flight we are suppose to call tomorrow.. I am kinda waiting it out, I am watching and listening to a Jamaica radio station live feed to hear exactly what is going in minute by minute..I almost wonder if I should of waited until tomorrow to cancel the room? WE will see what happens tomorrow after the hit happens.. It will be difficult cause we have to cancel the wedding plans (with the resort) and also then cancel the photographer that we have already paid half deposit down for.. Thanks for your great advice on St. Lucia..I am looking into all options at this time, IF we could remain going to Jamaica that would be perfect but we will have to wait and see the damage.. Thanks to all of you that have offered to help, its so appreciated~
  2. Nadine: I am on hold right now as we speak waiting to speak to a representative to completely cancel our trip before it gets too busy...I am so bummed right now..We watched a news forecast and its concrete to me that we will not be going, the hit that is about to take place is worse than anything in 2 decades, so we certainly do not want to go while the city is flooded and so forth..I don't even think we would be able to get a flight, even if we wanted to.. So with this sad news, I am now officially trying to close things up and try to have my money returned...I have no idea where or when we will go..I am so sad right now.. I feel like I am jinxed (not sure of spelling), we had a major flood 3 weeks ago in our home, then last night my computer died, (more money) and this HUGE cancellation..I am really sad right now.. Thanks girls for all your efforts, its so appreciated.. Nadine: what is your plan "B"?
  3. Nadine.. Lets keep our fingers crossed for today..YIKES the problem now is that Dean is 60 miles wide and Jamaica is 80 miles wide so not much will escape Dean... I feel the same, I feel as if my dream of getting married on the island have been crushed but before I go cancelling and making concrete alternative plans, I am waiting for today to happen and assess the damage.. No I have not heard anything about Cuba, sorry..I guess my focus has been more on Jamaica at this point..Should I hear anything, I will keep you posted~
  4. Thanks very much..I am looking into both those options with my better half..You are so nice to suggest these places to me and the second option is quite nice...I thank you very much for your kindness~
  5. Thanks, yes the VP is updating hourly almost on the Couples Website as well...I anxiously await hearing any information.. Thanks for the other information on St Lucia, I will look into that shortly~
  6. MoBride.. Thanks so much for your efforts, please keep me posted, we are worried sick at this point. Any information is appreciated~
  7. I have been in contact with them all say and they have only been able to evacuate a certain amount..786 people are left there between their 4 resorts to weather this hurricane coming.. YES before I cancel for sure, I will wait until tomorrow to confirm the damage..Thanks girls for being so nice and willing, I appreciate this more than you know..
  8. Its only the two of us, thankfully BUT couples only has resorts in Jamaica (unfortunately)...
  9. Well as I said on the other post, it must be similar to Swept Away in that its an all inclusive, adults only and not in a highrise like resort but more of an intimate like resort.. Must be Carribean not Canada or US..Thanks girls, I guess I better start doing mega researching..oh it has to have a nice beach too, I have never touched the Ocean.. Thanking any of you in advance..
  10. Moran...Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart~ As much as I would love to go to Mexico, there is too much paperwork to get married there from a Canadian's perspective..With that said, I would like to seek something that is comparable to Couples Swept Away in the fact that its an all inclusive, adult only as its just the two of us, and something that has a large beach but this may sound strange but, I do not want a highrise type of hotel, so something intimate and not a large chain for a hotel as RIU or others similar.. hmmmm, I don't think a little Island will be as affordable and as far as a photographer goes, that is the HARD part, we have researched for over a year for a fantastic photographer to give us a photojournalistic style, some of my favorites have been Sol & Matt, Leigh, or something of that style..UGH... I guess we are open to suggestions on resorts that are not overly priced yet intimate and are all inclusive, it may sound bad but our photographer is one of the most important decisions as our families are not going to be with us, so we very carefully planned to have a fantastic package for the day of and TTD session the next day.. We had booked everything to leave August 31 and return on Sept 11th..WE have not yet looked into getting our money back but we did buy trip insurance as we knew we would be travelling during hurricane season but never once did it cross our minds with fear.. Our holidays have been booked for almost a year, we just dealt with a flood (posted a few weeks ago) so we are truly beginning to wonder our luck at this point.. Thanking anyone that attempts to help us at this point..Jamaica is stated that with what they are predicting, it could be many months to recover from this predicted hurricane disaster so its almost evitable that it will hit and the country will not be able to accept visitors without loss of power and water and resources, with a planned vacation of leaving in less than 2 weeks, it does not look good at this point.. I feel so bad for many brides destined for Jamaica within the next few months and I pray that Dean does not hit as predicted towards Mexico bordering Texas.. Any help is appreciated, we will have to change travel plans probably ASAP, most people are cancelling their Jamaican plans today ..ARGH.. Thanks girls, this site truly is amazing... Trista
  11. Thanks, it may appear to go that way~ I have been searching all afternoon for alternate locations but again, nothing seems to be similar to me and then there is the problem of a photographer.. Thanks for your offer~
  12. Thanks for your advice, however, I am from Canada and it takes a lot more than just going off to get married here, its actually a few months before its recognized, as we already looked into this option when we considered Mexico before Jamaica and just too much work with blood tests and paperwork... I have spoken directly to the resort today and evacuation is being done right now and they tell me to go cancel my plans for a week away as it will be hit, at this point nobody knows to what severity~ UGH..reality is that it will more than likely have to be completely re-planned again..I am trying to stay positive but it does not look good..I agree that the news always exaggerates stuff but this time, the resort is quite scared at this point and there are 800 tourists there right now stuck on their 4 resorts that they can not send home at this time so they are preparing for the worse..Jamaica has a "laid back attitude" most of the time but this time, they are truly very frightened at what is to come..I am trying to face the devestation that may come tomorrow, keeping my fingers crossed for the people of Jamaica at this time.. Realty is that the small island is unlike the States in quick recovery and in fact Jamaica may suffer for a LONG time due to Dean..I am just trying to get things into perspective and should I have to re-schedule (I will decide this tomorrow) what my future plans could possibly be.. Thanks for your advice, I am quite afraid that no amount of praying at this point will change the fact that Jamaica is now aimed at a direct hit, the severity we are not sure but the evitability is evident~ Thanks..
  13. I am soooooooooooooooooooooo depressed..I am due to leave in a week and a half for Couples in Negril and it does not look good at this point..I have been tracking Dean for 2 days now and its getting worse by the hour.. I have been planning this for over a year and half and 1 week or so before we leave, Jamaica is set to hit the hardest..What will we do?? We are so looking forward to this long awaited trip?? It looks like Jamaica is a sure target and I dreamed of going there to get married..UGH... The catch 22 that we are in is where else should we go? We are okay in the fact that its just the two of us, but gosh Jamaica had all our paperwork for getting married etc? We will wait until tomorrow to make any concrete decisions but we need some helps as to where else to go should it be destroyed? Seeing as Dean is also heading to Mexico after Jamaica, we would not even consider that area..Any suggestions girls? I am so crushed right now..I also worry for all the Jamaican homeland people who will have their beautiful land destroyed~It is not even a matter of just the hurricane hitting but the country not even being able to run properly with water and electricity? Anyway, any advice would be appreciated at this point as to where else we can go?

I do know what you mean, originally we were planning for Mexico and our trip to Negril is 2 times more

  16. Awesome job, you are for sure very talented with your DIY skills, you should for sure consider doing this for a living~ A lot of girls could use these services...Great job, it looks fantastic~Your hard work really paid off, they are unique and very beautiful...
  17. My prayers go out to every destination involved..I am worried sick about Jamaica and its people, yesterday,it was in direct hit of Dean but today its kinda moved south to hit the south side..I am travelling exactly 2 weeks from today, although Dean will be done, I worry about damages to all the islands involved~ My wells wishes go out to all the people that have no-where to run that they may be safe and sound with no damage to the people and their beautiful land~
  18. I agree, I just bought one on ebay (the one recommended here) and just bring it with you..Although I love the docking station, I HATE my Ipod, it seriously gives me so much aggrevation, at least in trying to transfer music to it that out of frustration, I have bought a chord that will allow me to hook my mp3 player directly into the IPOD docking station (speakers).. They are not super expensive and it would not be money spent just for the day but a docking station you would always have for the beach or where-ever? Just a thought~

  20. Not my style but that is just my opinion..if you are not sure, that price tag will buy you lots of other beautiful accessories?
