Hi..I am new myself...Welcome and Congrats
  5. Christine.. I thoroughly researched both Ocho Rios and Negril (Swept Away) and both are amazing resorts..Both All Inclusives offer more than a couple could need..I hear the difference between the two is that there is more to do (excursions etc.) at Ocho Rios and Swept Away is more quiet..You can not go wrong with a Couples Resort..They have thousands of yearly return customers due to their high customer service and food, apparently they really treat their customers like Queens and Kings and its for that reason that people return year after year... Although it was more expensive than other AI's, I wanted the security of not worrying about my food and drinks, it gives me comfort to know that I can just go and relax..Also at Ocho Rios, I think there is also a nudist beach close by? not sure though!! I think you have made a wonderful decison to honeymoon there, I can't wait to hear of it when you return..Just go onto their forum and you will see how many people LOVE both resorts and go back year after year Jamaica Resorts Reviews: Couples Resorts - All-Inclusive Resorts: Jamaican: Message Board What made you decide Couples Ocho Rios AI?
  6. Dragonfly... I am in Ottawa, Ontario and you? Wow so nice to see so many Ontarians here..LOL... As for my day, hmmm I was a 3 dress bride but finally on the third one, it was discontinued so I contacted the designer directly to have them re-make it in my size...It's very beachy and thin, I will post pics soon so you can see it.. As for my feet, I have my barefoot sandals already for months~ My colours aren't really determined, I love teal (monogram) but also love bright pinks and orange, so decided because we are getting married in Jamaica, I would not have been able to bring my flowers home, so decided to make silk ones to bring so I knew exactly what they would look like...I bought the material required last week and hope to start that today, but I think I will do something white mixed with a bright pink..Still have not decided completely~ I also will be making my veil and have all the material here to start also this weekend..I want a cathedral length for pictures~ I made most of my jewelry already and they are very "shell like" which has that beachy feel to it~ As for pics, we have hired a photographer in Jamaica for a 10 hour shoot to do a few hours on the day of the wedding, and then do a 7 hour shoot the next day to include a trash the dress event..Our pictures were really important to me, seeing as I will not have any family there, so I wanted to make sure they would see the day's events~ What about everyone else?
  7. I researched both Ocho Rios and Negril and both are beautiful, it depends what you are looking for...Safety in either of these places should not be an issue, as they are very safe while on the resort!! IF you plan to go off resort, it can be very scary, for us, we chose Negril but again, if you plan to stay on resort, no worries!! You have to remember even in places like Mexico, if you stay on the resort and do not venture into the "poverty" like areas, you are safe, if you do decide to venture outside the resort by yourself, venture with caution as I have heard of many people who have been robbed and so forth... Good Luck in your choice..
  8. Beautiful pics, Congrats..I believe ALL Couples resorts in Jamaica are amazing...
  9. I know you have already chosen your resort and congrats, one of the hardest decisions has been made...We chose Jamaica, Couples, Swept Away because of opposite reasons, we are going just the two of us and did not want a resort with children (love kids but wanted to be by ourselves with a romantic setting) We had first chosen Mexico and I had my heart set on a few places but due to the lengthy paperwork involved and blood tests and having to be on resort longer to qualify, we decided to choose Jamaica and although it was much pricier, it had everything we wanted for a wedding and honeymoon. Congrats on choosing Jamaica, I am sure you will not be disappointed..
  10. I heard the beauty is breath-taking but again, it was out of our budget!! Good Luck...
  11. Congrats, the hardest decision is made and you almost can't go wrong with Jamaica..Its also one of the "easiest" places to get married with respect to paperwork and such...
  12. I am using Sungold Photography... I have seen lots of their work and they seem pretty good. Unfortunately there are not a lot of options in Jamaica...I will post a review and pics upon my return in September. They can be found at Sungold Photography

Congrats, Couples, Swept Away bride here...Good Luck
  16. As I browse around, I find it incredible how many people are here to help other people and I am amazed..This is a wonderful place to be and I am so happy to be part of it.. A little bit of information on us...We live in Ontario, Canada and I met the love of my life approximately 3 years ago online after coming out of a hard relationship..I was not looking for love and nor was he but thankfully we found each other... A year after dating, we bought a home together and moved in (both previous owned our own by ourselves), 6 months later, he proposed..We have both been previously married (but they don't count) and we have always wanted a destination wedding on the beach with the waves coming in... We have booked our wedding at Couples, Swept Away in Jamaica for September 3rd, 2007. We leave August 31, and return September 11th. ...WE are super excited!! Oh yeah, although our families know we are getting married, we have opted not to invite anyone, so its kind of an elopment without the surprise.. I have been planning this wedding for over a year and have done tons of reasearch on many different resorts both in Jamaica and Carribean so although we are close to 2.5 months away, I would be more than happy to help anyone else, its a give and take, I have been fortunate enough to belong to other forums that have helped me so much and I hope to be able to give this back to someone else.. I am sure there are still lots of things I will have to finalize and will appreciate as much help as well...So with that said, thank you for allowing me to be part of such a wonderful community forum, I look forward in meeting many of you and helping you any way I can...
