So far, the owner and wedding coordinator have been fantastic to work with. This thread makes me even more excited for our wedding there

    Hello!

Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the boards! I am a Puerto Vallarta bride - let me know if you have any questions! Jackie
  4. We bought each of their plane tickets to our wedding. And then, at the rehearsal dinner, we are going to hand out small gifts(aviators for the guys, still thinking for the girls...)
  5. The p.p. cost for our 5 night hotel package is $830.00. This includes breakfast and open bar for the week. After adding in airfare, our guests will be paying approx. $1,330.00 each. So far, we have 21 rooms booked and no complaints yet!
  6. Congrats and Welcome!!!
  7. Thanks for all of the great ideas! If I end up using the palms, I will probably use hot pink water and put votives around them. Rachelle - thanks for all of the candle pictures - there are some great ideas on there!
  8. Our wedding property is very lush with flowers and greenery, and I am afraid that floral centerpieces will pale in comparison. I am considering these palm leaves, but afraid that they won't "stand out" either. Which lead me to these questions: #1. What do you think of the palm centerpieces? and.. #2. Do you have any other ideas that may work better? Thanks in advance!!
  9. Congratulations!! Cant wait to hear all of the details! Sounds like your trip is going great Jackie
  10. Welcome to the boards!! You will find plenty of help here! What destination do you have in mind?
  11. It was pretty intense(I am terrified of heights!) but I'm really glad that we did it. If it seems like too much, there are tons of other tour options to choose from. I emailed you our pictures, just in case you change your mind
  12. It was called The Mayan Encounter by Alltournative. It was INCREDIBLE! They have a detailed itenerary on their website. Also, I have tons of pictures from this if you want to see!
  13. Both resorts are great, but we personally liked the Maya/Lindo better. It was not as crowded as Tucan, an in our opinion the beach was better. The rooms were also bigger - ours had a jacuzzi tub, a separate living area and a nice balcony. Our building of rooms had a private pool, and a concierge that would make your meal reservations each night. The Maya seemed to have more to do at night - a piano bar, cigar bar, karaoke, disco, ect. Either way, you really can't go wrong! There were tons of great things at Tucan/Quetzal as well and I think the Maya is much more expensive.
  14. Jaime, You are going to have such a great time!! I'm jealous Is this a scouting trip or just for fun? A few tips - - Eat at the Mexican and Japanese restaurant - they were fantastic! - If you go to any of the nightly shows, I recommend getting there a little bit early to get a good seat. The Mr. Iberostar Show was the best, IMO. -If you are planning on any excursions, I HIGHLY recommend The Mayan Encounter through Altournative Tours. It was unforgettable and worth every single penny. We stayed at Tucan/Quetzal for a few nights, and then they upgraded us to the Paraiso Maya (no strings attached!) I have since heard that they offer upgrades frequently. Have a great trip!! Let me know how it goes! Jackie
  15. Hi Andrea, The wedding that we saw was on the beach in late afternoon with about 20 guests. From what I remember, it was held in the middle of the beach and wasn't too close to the building. The wedding itself was simple, yet nice. There was a very large crowd of beach goers that gathered around and watched. If privacy is not an issue for you, than it shouldn't be a big deal. The resort itself was beautiful. It was like walking through a jungle. We saw tons of wildlife (monkeys and turtles, ect.) The food and staff were great also. Would you like me to send some pictures of our stay? Jackie
  16. Hi, My FI and I stayed at Iberostar Quetzal/Tucan and Iberostar Paraiso Maya last August. We loved our stay at both places, and saw a few beach weddings while we were there. If you have any questions or would like more details, let me know and I will be happy to help! Jackie
  17. Hi Jessalyn, I found this chart on nuptialnet.com - They also have charts for four hour receptions. Hope this helps! Jackie
  18. Michelle, I LOVE your idea of pre-wedding reception. Also, I have been researching this all morning and found this on The Knot - "Generally, we say that those who are invited to a wedding shower should also be invited to the wedding... But since you are having such a tiny wedding, the rules change a bit. In this case your shower will serve as a way to celebrate your upcoming marriage with those you cannot invite to your wedding. Guests should not be offended when they realize that your wedding ceremony and reception will consist of only 20 people -- so do make sure that they are aware of this! If, however, you are having a large celebration and your shower guests are left out, they would most certainly be offended." Hope that may help you too, Nini_bride!
  19. Hi, My parents would like to throw FI and I an Engagement Party on Labor Day weekend. They are going to call it a "Pre-Weeding Fiesta" and we will NOT be asking for gifts. My question is.... Is it okay to invite guests that are not invited to the wedding?? We are having a small ceremony, and only invited immediate family and wedding party. We would like to find a way to include everyone else, and thought this might be a good time. (We have decided not to have an AHR). Thanks for your help! Jackie
