  1. Tammy- The individual cakes makes me think of the Bridezilla that did 35 individual cakes for her centerpieces. In theory, it was a great idea until she had to make them all! Fortunately with DW, most of the time you come up with the idea and everyone else does the work. I love the cupcake idea. I'll keep this in mind for my AHR. I could easily bake a ton of cupcakes...I think. Mom's always do it for birthday parties.
  2. Great dress. Can't wait to see it! I bought a Maggie dress too. There is just something about her dresses...they are all so beautiful!
  3. I have read so many mixed reviews on the food at the Barcelo. Nothing else is really bothering- ie. it being outdated, but I do want to have good food at an AI. I just don't want to pay for 11 days worth of food that I think isn't very good, then end up eating out every day. Does anyone have an opinion on their food?
  4. Congrats! How exciting! Trust me, you will be starring at your ring all the time. I've been engaged for 6 months and I still stare at it all the time- like "is that beautiful ring really on my finger?" Getting it cleaned is awesome too. It starts the staring all over.
  5. We have debating this one for a long time as well. It's very hard to pick a resort. FI wants an AI. I don't really want one, but I'll let him have his way on this one. I might suggest the Melia for my guests as well.
  6. Amy- Just out of curiosity, why aren't you thrilled with the Melia? I looked at the pictures. It looks beautiful.
  7. Yes, please post pics! I hired Beth for my wedding and I would LOVE to see more of her work. How exciting!
  8. I was thinking of staying there, but now I'm up in the air again. I take it back...I thought I was done with all my hard stuff. I have yet to determine what hotel we want to stay at.
  9. Paulina Ulloa takes some pretty pictures. What a tough decision. Good luck! I think it gets easier after this part. I love picking out all the small details. All the big stuff is out of the way once you get your dress, venue, and photog.

I'm sure your pics are going to be amazing! I hope so Amy. This was the hardest decision by far to make. I thought the venue would be the roughest, but photog shopping was way worse. Thanks for refering me to her too!

Shelley, sometimes they can order it with no train or a shortened train. You may just want to ask if you find the "one" and the train is too long. I had that problem with a couple of dresses and the bridal shop had told me certain designers have the option for trains to be removed.
  12. Honestly, while searching for a photog, I would ignore their package pricing and contact the photog directly. I would let them know what I want and what budget I can work within. Surprisingly, most of them generally tried to meet my needs while negotiating in the budget range. For me, I didn't have a huge budget. I didn't want to go over $1200, so a mass amount of prints wasn't a priority. I figured as long as I owned rights to the negatives or a cd of prints, I could always print them when I could afford more (or even if I wanted more.) Sorry this didn't answer your question directly, but I hoped it would help. I'm using elfoto.org (Beth Fladung) but I haven't had my wedding yet to share my experience with her. So far she has been great with communicating and I think she may join the forum.
  13. Beautiful wedding. I can't believe there was rain. You can't even tell! Your colors couldn't have matched the color of the ocean any better! Congrats!
  14. You should Jamie. You don't even have to stay there to see it. Just tell the guard you are going to eat at the restaurant, and bam! free access to roam.
  15. I like the WC you posted Ann. They have some pretty ideas in their portfolio.
  16. That's a good suggestion Jen. I personally think blue shoes is a cute idea for something blue. And to pair blue with your dress wouldn't be too awkward looking (like if your dress were a different color with a ton of beading I think that would look odd.) And by the way, I think your dress is gorgeous. I'm not sure if I ever saw that in a different post, but I love it! Nice pick.
  17. ok the first link Jamy posted- eventful moments...that was the "guy" wc I was referring to. After looking at the link, he's the founder, not specifically the wc.
  18. I found these on Virtual Vallarta: Wedding Consultants [Coordinadores de Bodas] • Laura Cárdenas — I Do Vallarta - Tel: 223-0008 • Tamara Bradley — Incredible Journeys - Tel: 224-9728 • Unforgettable Weddings — Condos La Marina 18-3 Tel: 224-7131 These I found through a google search. WeddingPortfolio Click on "details". I think they have done some pretty weddings. Puerto Vallarta Weddings | Vallarta Original Weddings There was also guy WC that had some great wedding galleries. Now I can't seem to find the company. Hopefully Amy can provide more.
  19. Awww Jamy I want to see them too, even though I looked at your photos a few times. I have no red x's though. Just blankness.....

Amy I really think you can do that. There are tons of beautiful dresses. I was kind of overwhelmed. Luckily for me, nearly half of them looked awkward on me. But they were still beautiful hanging up!
  21. Courtney, ask and you shall receive. Hotel Lobby. It was so pretty with the safari theme. Rooms facing the savanna. I recommend this if you can do it. So beautiful! Lobby window over looking the savanna. It's awesome when it's grazing time. Flamingos that roam the property. Gazelles grazing. A giraffe being a giraffe. My honey outside by the pool (although you can't see it.) There were so many animals to take pics of but I had a hard time. They ended up looking like lumps on the grass. And just an added note, the property is so cool because they bring in African safari tour guides to answer all the questions about the animals you see around the property. Apparently, Disney sets them up with some kind of scholarship program. It's pretty cool just to listen to the accents.
  22. Kelly, if you are interested Animal Kingdom Lodge let me know. I have pics, although they probably aren't any better than what you would find on the internet. We didn't take any of the room though. Just the property.
  23. Awww... I loved the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I thought it was so beautiful and I never once smelt elephant poop. Maybe I did and didn't realize it because it's not every day you recognize the smell of elephant poop. If you don't stay there, you must at least check out the resort. It's too beautiful too miss! The Savannah view is awesome!
  24. I love your work, especially your attention to detail. Very beautiful. Welcome.
