show us your rings!
JaimeLynne replied to NABUMBAH's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Courtney I love your ring! It reminds me of mine, except I have baguettes on the side. Anyways, I've had a few requests of me to post my ring. I've already posted it in here but I'll go ahead and do it again since it's been a few months and may be hard to find. It's from Zales, 1ct. total weight set in white gold. It sparkles so much in person ~ I love it!!!! -

We went ring shopping and that was the first ring I saw, and I loved it! I later found out that he went back that very day and picked it up, so he's had it for a couple months now!! Haha, you've got a good eye! We started out at Quetzal/Tucan but then I used my Spanish (hehe) and got us bumped up for free for our remaining 3 nights to the Maya! You should make the drive up here for the Dallas meetup!

I believe there are a few ladies now getting married at Playa Fiesta on here, and others who have at least been there. I have a few questions: - What is your estimated cost (not including your guests lodging) for the whole wedding/dinners/drinks that you're paying for? - Do you have other activities outside of the hotel planned? Are you worried at all about your guests getting bored? Do you go outside the hotel for the rest of the meals that you do not choose to order for your guests? - Is there a beach w/sand leading up to the water that is swimmable or is it just rocky? I can't believe it but I am actually reconsidering this location... Ha! One big plus is that it doesn't seem too expensive for the guests. At around $100/night per person x 5 nights that's only $500 for the hotel costs - not bad! And it is my understanding that this includes an open National bar (beer, wine, well liquors). *Edit* I keep forgetting to add in all those taxes/gratuities that are not included which is 27%. So that would bring it up to about $635 pp total for lodging BUT you can also get a massage for a simple $15 gratuity charge which is nice! Also, airfare from DFW to PV would be around $600 so that's only app. $1,200 pp which isn't bad for a 5 night stay! I bet Cabo Dreams would be twice that... (That's the other location I'm considering)

I too am reconsidering our original choice of Riviera Maya for Cabo. I'm in the process of researching it and so far it looks wonderful, but expensive. I'm trying to weigh the factors.

Which photographer did you go with? I really like Michelle Turner's work but obviously she's much more expensive...

Oh gosh, now you have me looking at this hotel again.... Last time I checked, I don't think you could get the National Open Bar included in the room package. That makes a huge difference. If you paid for 2 or 3 dinners and then they paid the extra fee per night to have open bar I think the guests would be very happy that they didn't have to pay for every drink separately!

Ooooh, Maria - I will be so jealous if you get married there!!! Btw, I had some communication with them awhile back when we were considering them for our wedding. I may still have the packages and stuff. I'll check... They are super nice tho. We were going to go to PV originally for our vacation and he offered to let us come stay a night there for free to talk with them and even taste the food they had to offer. I believe they only have one wedding a week which is really nice because they completely focus on YOUR wedding! Also, I've heard the sunsets in PV are gorgeous!

I usually just wore my Pash from Glenda or my "Future Mrs S..." hoodie in the evening and was very comfortable. Awe, cute! That weather sounds so nice.

Thanks for the info and have an amazing time on your honeymoon!!
-
Oooh, I love that location! Congrats! If I wasn't doing AI I would totally have my wedding there!!!
-
Jill, thanks for the heads up! It was just about a 2.5 hr flight to Cancun as well, but then an extra hr. bus ride to Playa del Carmen. I agree with your view on Cancun being a party style atmosphere. Also, just how chilly does it get? We are planning a Summer wedding, probably late June or July. Sarah, the lack of rain sounds wonderful for wedding planning! I'm starting to get excited of the possibilities of Cabo now, and Martin is too! Thanks ladies.
-
Hi Kendra! Glad to see another Dallas girl on here, we're gaining in numbers! I'm considering Cabo but still going back and forth between it and the Riviera Maya. What made you decide on Cabo?
-
I wish I could go visit both, but I think we'll only be able to do one more site visit between now and our wedding. I just *really* like the look of the rooms at Dreams Cabo as well as the Gazebo wedding area there. The Gazebo at Dreams Cancun is definitely still nice tho. However, we don't really like the touristy Cancun area cause it feels too much like the U.S. w/all the restaurants and such. I would pick Playa del Carmen over Cancun but we haven't really found a hotel there yet that we like wedding wise... Things sure have started to get complicated once that ring went on my finger!

Dress Shopping Today!!

Awwwe, you look so HAPPY!!! I agree with Martha tho - take more pics just to make sure it's the lighting/angle/whatever and NOT the dress! I do like all the beading and scrunchy and bunchy-ness (hahaha). -
Sarah - thanks for that, I think I needed to hear it! When I was down in Playa doing site visits I kept thinking of YOUR wedding video, and I realized that location was what I kept envisioning in my mind for the "perfect" wedding. So, needless to say none of the places we looked at even came close! I got all excited when Martin agreed that Iberostar just wasn't right for us, and I thought that you had gotten married at Dreams Cancun. When I realized it was actually Dreams CABO I was bummed again because of the prices! But I think you are right - it's OUR WEDDING and if I let a little money get in the way I REALLY think I will regret it. So thanks again for your words of encouragement from your "soapbox" (lol!). I think I will start looking further into Dreams Cabo - yeah baby!!! (Excited again! Haha)

I haven't really looked at a map to see where Cabo is, and I've never been to that part of Mexico before.

Yay Kash! Can't wait to see that dress. Best of luck!!!!
