Ann, Did you ever get a chance to ask your guests how they liked the Mexican Trio you hired? I am 90% I will hire them which means I wouldn't have to download that much Mexican music. I'd have the authentic version!! Any Las Caletas bride know how much music I should plan on having for the dinner and reception? I assume the Trio doesn't play during dinner but I'm not so sure! Thanks We're music freaks so we have a huge library at home. To hear samples, besides the illegal download thing, you can go to sites that sell music and hear like 20 second samples (i.e. towerrecords.com, amazon.com, etc). There is a fairly accurate timeline provided when you sign your contract, have you done that yet? It says the start and end time of each segment of the wedding/reception. That's what I based ours off of. If you didn't get that ask them or I can pull mine out and tell you what they told us if you need it.
  2. Kash I've been waiting to hear from you....I'm sorry there were some snags but from the video I saw it was lovely and I know you guys didn't let it ruin your day. But what a PITA!!!! Can't wait to see pics and hear about your European honeymoon. Congrats to you both!
  3. I'm late but welcome and congrats on the engagement! I think the caftan sounds really nice. As for the heat, you may be right. I live in L.A. where it gets pretty hot sometimes and I was very hot in my gown even when the sun went down! I brought a white sundress to change into after the first dance so that's something to consider if you go with a formal dress - you can always change. And I'm a fan of barefoot outdoor weddings. It's good for the soul to sink your feet in nature but really it's so much more comfortable too. Happy planning!
  4. 1) Was there any item that you wish you had included in your OOT bags? Dramamine!! I was going to then just told people to bring their own. We ended up bringing extra and passing them out anyway so we should have just put them in the bags. We were on a boat though so it may not be needed if you're just on land. 2) Was there anything you included that could have been nixed, or your guests didn't use very often? I didn't see anyone use the playing cards but maybe they did in their rooms at night? I could have done without them but they were cute. 3) Was there any certain items that your guests really used a lot, or really loved? Dominoes!! Many guests thought they were too cool and played by the pool like everyday. They loved the portfolios I put in their bags. They were like 12 pages but guests were impressed and found them usefeul. It included a welcome letter, itinerary, maps of PV and where everyone was staying, history of PV, where to shop, where to sight-see for free, guided tour info, a page of tips for staying healthy, and emergency info (#'s to embassies, doctors, credit card companies, etc.) They used the monogrammed bags often too and loved them, some people brought them to the wedding too. Oh, oddly also cocoa butter bar soap was a hit. Sometimes people forget that hotel soap is really drying and don't pack their own.
  5. hehehe....I'm such a dork...I just saw this but thank you all for your wishes like a month ago
  6. If I could have done the deluxe wedding during the day I may have, just because the color of the water is so strikingly different at Caletas by day than by night, and the backdrop would have been so different. In the end I'm overly satisfied with it all. In June the sun sets after 8, pics weren't really dark until we hit the dancefloor. And that afternoon sun is no joke, it would have made everyone way more uncomfortable baking out there. I think April would be lovely if it works out for you, it's not as hot either.

  10. This is a bit off-topic but just in case this may apply to you, if any of those guests not staying at Dreams want to come see you at Dreams on another day besides the wedding, they will not be admitted. It probably won't matter but in my case there were a few relatives who wanted to meet us there for a drink and it was a no-go. We just went to their resort instead.

We were laying on the beach one night at like 2 a.m. and didn't apply the spray and our legs got all bit up by mosquitos. At the wedding though I didn't see one mosquito which was weird...maybe some of those candles were citronella? Not sure.

We told them we'd be making charges in Mexico and Jamaica in a specific time period and we had no problems in either location. It was funny because the last few times I went to my bank they were all like "how was Mexico and Jamaica?" because those notes are on our account. Anyway, it's worth a try.

I think you shouldn't fuss too much because the envelopes are the first thing in the trash anyway.
  17. Nevermind I answered my own question. TA said January 08.
  18. Anyone know when UNIK is opening in Isla Mujeres? Are they already accepting reservations?
  19. I did ours too. I took calligraphy classes years ago and it finally came in handy. I agree some professionals are too pricey. My envelopes came printed with return address on outer envelope and response card so all I had to do was address them to guests. If you have time go purchase some calligraphy pens and practice at home. You'd be surprised....those pens can work wonders! Even your normal print or cursive, when written with a calligraphy pen, can look very elegant. Nobody will analyze it and go "what font is that?". Or if they do they're weird...lol.
  20. Good ones, Maria. I included all the emg. numbers in a welcome portfolio in the OOT bags...if you have the time it's helpful to guests. In addition to what you both have, I suggested guests bring: hat addresses in case they want to send postcards comfortable shoes single dollars for tipping insect repellant dramamine extra batteries for cameras/ipods/etc. (they get costly oot) That's all I can think of for now.

We grill year round out here too, I guess it helps that it never rains. Few things beat the smell of grilling food! Jaime good prep work, it will make the day of so much easier. I'm sure your burgers will come out very tasty!
