  1. 1500 for three days worth is an incredible deal. But, only if you like what you would be getting. You could probably find a photographer for under two thousand that would do the wedding day and reception. But, probably not as much as this relative would be doing. Maybe ask him to see more photos? Even if they are not destination wedding photos, you still get an idea of his work.

Those are just some examples in Mexico. Hell, I don't think I would stay at a Dreams resort again because they have a "Swim with the Dolphins" thing at their Cancun resort. So, yes I put my money where my mouth is. Not the other way around.

I was just pointing it out to spread some awareness about respecting the cenotes and the people that own and run them.
  4. the shot where the bride is standing on the bottom of the cenote is a big big big no-no. That stirs up sediment in the cenote which disrupts visibility as well as the ecosystem of the cenote.
  5. Arecibo Observatory? Or the town of Arecibo? Just curious. Either would be awesome in my opinion.
  6. I made a thread a while back listing tons of stuff and links to everything. Check it out here. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t3325
  7. Aint puppy breath the best? Until they get older and sometimes it smells like they licked a used diaper before kissing you. Awesome photos too!
  8. Akumal - DiveShop There is one option. I have heard nothing but good about it too. The Akumal Dive Shop seems to be consistently good.
  9. One more thing with Vanessa is that she is very accommodating as far as editing styles. As a photog wanna-be myself, I knew what we liked and did not like as far as editing and Vanessa even went as far as to include the un-edited versions of the photos for me to tinker around with.
  10. Another thing to consider is if the packages are comparable. We always use Liberty Travel and the pices our agent quotes us include things like transfers, all taxes, etc etc.
  11. LIke others have said, the bus is 6 pesos (approx $0.60). What other hotels are you looking into?
  12. If it is in Trenton, we could probably stop by for a quick hello. My brother and my two awesome nieces and little not-even-one-yet nephew live at Fort Dix which is in that area. We never get to see them because it is about a 4.5 hour drive to get there. I would feel awful if we drove all that way and did not spend all the time we could with the little buggers. So depending what time of day everyone is going to be meeting up, we could stop by for a minute either before or after we see the kids.

As far as playing with the aperture settings.... a good idea may be to do a bracketing sort of system. Set the camera to aperture priority, then do one shot at the original program setting. After the first shot adjust the aperture up and down from there to play with depth of field. For example.. shot 1: 1/250 at f5.6 (just a random setting for the example) shot 2: 1/500 at f4 shot 3: 1/1000 at f3.5 shot 4: 1/125 at f8 shot 5: 1/60 at f11 they all are the same correct exposure but using different fstops adjusts the depth of field to play with how much or little of the photo is in focus.
  14. You gotta love the 50mm. I have a 50mm 1.8 for my camera and I use that nearly all the time. Such a great deal on them usually too. I think I got mine for about $90. As far as how I am feeling........I am doing very good! I am nearly pain free for the first time in years. The surgery recovery was a lot easier and quicker than I thought it would be.

I do not think you should have to do anything you don't want to just to appease someone or any group of people. It is not their fucking wedding!! The only thing that should matter on that day is you and your husband. Not what other people want you to do. People get so asshole-ish when it comes to weddings. Do this, do that, I don't like chicken, it's too hot, I can't wear blue, invite my friend, don't invite that person, blah blah blah blah. It's downright selfish and rude. People always try to make things about themselves instead of being happy and considerate of other people. "So how do you really feel about this Jason"

  17. That is awesome Tammy! I swear, I am becoming a huge fan of your photos! What kind of lens did you get? I have always kinda wanted one but never went for it for some reason.
  18. Awesome photos everyone! I really liked the 'c' photo using the jet engine. Very cool. Gotta go work on the D & E this weekend.

As long as Karen and I can make it we would be willing to meet some NYC people somewhere in between to carpool with. Especially if the place where everyone is getting together is in northern Jersey somewhere.
  20. It's a possiblility that the photographers monitor could be out of whack as well when they were editing the photos. If every single photo has a color cast to it, it would be an easy fix for them to go back and do a batch edit of all of them. I would contact them and see what they say.

  22. I finally got home to be able to upload the 'c' picture I took today. I really did not have many things to choose from while on my lunch break. I was limited with time and even more so by subject. So, here is the 'b' and 'c' photos I have. I already posted the 'b' but I want to keep with the thread and do both. I love your 'c' photos too Tammy! Very cool looking.
  23. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t1058 There is tons of info in that post. It is a sticky right in the wedding attire section of the forum.
  24. I will see what I can find while walking to the post office on my lunch break. Gotta go mail Glenda's wedding photos to her
